42 years… Theo off again! Wenger in for Higuain & Gonalons?

Morning all,

Another beautiful sunny day ahead for us all here, but sadly, it’s same old from the players…. Well, certainly one!

Good old Walcott, he’s been pretty poor for the last few months, then, having scored a goal within three minutes of kick-off when we played Fergies lot, he’s back to ‘I want to play central striker’!!

I played a few games there and I would like a few more towards the end of the season, I scored a lot of my goals this season when playing up front, so I have shown what I can do and it is up to the manager to do what he sees is best. I am sure another chance will come.

I set a 20-goal target for the season, but the biggest goal for me is to help Arsenal finish third or fourth.

Well third is gone I suspect, forth, well that’s all to play for but I still have my doubts that we will achieve it.

But, as far as playing central goes, he’s likely to miss out – when asked about continuing with Podolski playing central this Saturday, Arsene Wenger said:

At the moment, yes. A definite decision has not been made but if there is an opportunity then there is a good chance I will do it.

He has the qualities because he is a good finisher. He has a good technique, and because we have a game based on very quick combinations I believe he can be a part of that.

Overall I am convinced in the coming games he will show it.

Three games left, neither really have a chance to prove they can cope for the long haul, in any case, the big Frenchman will be back for the final game of the season! So make that two.

Regardless of what happens, we need a goal machine. Go sign him Arsene!!

There is one at Real Madrid who will definitely be available this summer, that’s Gonzalo Higuain. I doubt many fans don’t know who he is, but just in case:

He’s French, 25 years old, 6′ tall, he’s scored 16 goals in 40 appearances this season (not quite so good) and he’s known for ‘his speed in the last third of the pitch and his great striking ability’

Despite being born in France, he chose to play for Argentina after obtaining citizenship in 2007. His strike rate is marginally better for his country, having netted 19 goals in 32 appearances since 2009.

The newspapers believe that since his club announced he is on the move, Wenger will be very interested in bringing the player to Arsenal. The Daily Mirror also suggest that we are stepping up in our chase of Maxime Gonalons.

Anyway, there are a number of strikers who are clearly going to be available this summer, yes they will cost money, proper money and Kroenke/Wenger needs to make sure we pay it, well, within reason of course. Falcao may just be a few million too much!

Regardless of who plays tomorrow and regardless of how they play. A goal scorer is a necessity before we kick off pre-season…..

That’s it for today, other than to leave you all with a little clip recorded back in 1971……

Enjoy…

Have a good day all….

It sure has it’s hat on and doesn’t it make you feel so much better…

Despite what is going on at Arsenal….

Nicknamed El Pipita or Pipa (Like his father), Higuaín was born in France, attaining Argentine citizenship in 2007, and now holding dual nationality.

    Morning all,
Another thought provoking post Rico. Theo Walcott Podolski and Gervinho and Giroud, Strikers or posers, in my eyes none seem capable of leading the line. Yes a few goals have been scored but that doesn’t make a top striker. Our club although not big spenders must buy a quality leading man, a player who can hold the ball up a player with a good turn of speed and above all talented, he will need to do his bit in defence as well and fairly tall and robust as well wouldn’t hurt. This position has been missing in our game this season with shots hitting corner posts and row z . Top strikers know where the goal is by instinct they react in a second they battle and they plan their runs. The so called strikers we have at present will all find a goal now and again, just like the blind squirrel who finds the occasional nut. but we need an experienced Squirrel who finds nuts from all over, someone who holds his own against the toughest defences. These top strikers are not two a penny they need finding and they normally come at a high price. The players we have now can be support strikers but none have the talent thats needed. Theo Walcott is a winger he can see his caree out untill his speed goes but as for the rest Theo is lightweight.

    Morning All You Sunny Gooners.

    Morning Rico.

    Morning Lee. Peroni @ 11am?

Morning Sir Stevo. Fishing this weekend?

  6. rico says:

    Morning Sp and Ak

Out of all we have available, Pod has to be the better option, he just needs a bit of help.

  7. rico says:

Arsene Wenger has dismissed speculation linking him with Paris Saint-Germain by insisting he still loves his job at Arsenal.

Wenger has faced criticism this season after the Gunners again failed to land a trophy and his relationship with the fans has been strained by a string of dismal results.

Reports suggested the Frenchman could cut short his lengthy spell at Arsenal and link-up with Paris Saint-Germain before his contract runs out in 2014.

But Wenger has ruled out a return to his home country as he remains passionate about his job at the Emirates and hopes to even extend his reign.

When asked about his future, he said: “I answered that question already. I respect my contracts. Football excites me…my love for this club excites me.”

Questioned about a possible new deal, Wenger added: “I want to stay if I do well, if the club considers I do well.”

  8. allezkev says:

    Higuain for AFC..?

Can’t see it myself. Massive wages blah blah blah.
But I could see him at Wastelands alongside Aguero.

But the club will be happy to let the rumour run whilst it’s season ticket renewal time…

  9. stevepalmer1 says:

Hi Ak, been going at least twice a week, The Lee valley is fishing crap at the moment not many fish coming out at all. Been like it all year. Got a feeling there’s something wrong somewhere, they should be on the feed now but although i saw a couple yesterday they don’t appear to be feeding. Yes may chance my arm this weekend as i am always optimistic. You still working every waking hour.

  10. stevepalmer1 says:

If Arsenal make CL this year Wenger’s going nowhere. The board will not even consider any other manager while Wenger wants to continue. So the only way we challenge for honors is if the kitty purse strings are untied, if that happens we have a chance, starting with a decent striker Goalkeeper and DM. but i shit myself thinking who we can get for threepence.

  11. rico says:

Ak, I can’t see any big name being signed, not if history is anything to go by…

Sp, I don’t think we’ll get top 4. Is that what AW means when saying ‘if he does well’….

We’ll see very soon I guess..

  12. stevepalmer1 says:

Don’t know Rico, but if anyone can muster a top 4 its Wenger. Doing well means £30 mill you know that as well as me 🙂

  13. Micko says:

    Morning all,
    God bless ya Ray Kennedy.
As for Higuain, we’d struggle to buy his boots.
Walcott talking the talk again, needs to walk the walk.

  14. rico says:

Arry has been asked about our interest in Cesar, he said if it’s true, Arsene will speak to him tomorrow as he’s there 😉

  15. W.A.T.H says:

If only it had been in 88 Micko it would of mean’t he wasn’t at Wembley for the Luton debacle…!

  16. rico says:

    He’s long overdue one Micko

Interesting that Green has been in goal for Qpr of late….

    Poor old Gus….

    Hi Wath

  17. Micko says:

Still leaves a nasty taste in the mouth wath, he had the whole of North London to kick that ball outta the stadium.

  18. W.A.T.H says:

I can still see him on the ball Micko, I was thinking to myself just launch it you muppet… the rest as they say is history…!

  19. W.A.T.H says:

We’ve mentioned Gus and Lee has probably run straight out the building to down a pint or two to deal with the instant shaking he encountered recalling such an ordeal…!

  20. Lee says:

Peroni in the currant is a dangerous thing….luckily I only had a few, hic! How AK drives a smash & grab in London when it’s sunny, I don’t know!

  21. rico says:

Wenger has said in his interview that he has been through a sensitive period, the club are now through the worst and we are financially well off…

He’s going to spend isn’t he??

  22. allezkev says:

Stevo, yep, i’m afraid i’m working all over the weekend, bar Sunday.

Rico, Peroni is nice, but it can go to your head. 😉

Lee, the worst part is driving past pubs whilst everyone is outside sinking pints.
Thank Fod for my bottle of Um Bongi. 😉

  23. rico says:

    😆 Lee…

It always goes to mine Kev 😉 I love it though and our local pub has it on draught …

  24. allezkev says:

Blimey, it’s a madhouse on ‘ere today.

    Sir Stevo has gone fishing.
Lee is on his 10th Peroni.
Scott is stuck up a gum tree.
    Oz is dreaming of grouting.
Adam is in the kitchen cooking spicey pot noodle.
Mick is out somewhere playing shinty.
Agag is snuggled up with Torres. That is her bedspread.
    Stan, just calm down.
Rico is eating some spicey lentals.
And I am drinking my tea.

    Lata 😉

  25. rico says:

RvP to get the number 9 shirt at the Mancs next season, I hope he takes ‘that curse’ with him…..

  26. agirlagunner says:

Hello, all!! Haha, Kev. I fell asleep blogging last night. Ack. I’m getting old. 🙁

Soya meatballs, rico?? I like silk tofu though. 😉 And I didn’t know Higuain was French. AW would be interested in him, then. 😛

RvP… yuck. I see that walking dollar sign, and I want to punch his face til he looks like Rooney. 😀

  27. agirlagunner says:

You sure you want to eat those soya thingies?? I’ll send you a can of Spam. 😛

  28. allezkev says:

    Soya meatballs?!!!

Not sure about them Rico… 😉

It’s quiet in Town tonight. Well for a Friday, that is…
A lot of ppl gone away for the weekend I suppose.

How do you see the game tomorrow Rico?
I don’t see it as an easy game at all.
The pressure is off QPR now, so they could be quite dangerous.

  29. allezkev says:

Apparantly, there is gonna be a bit of a clear-out from the Reserves/U21’s…
    About 12 to 15 could be released….

  30. Adam says:

With my snug red trousers and frill-collared and cuffed satin shirt I think I look quite debonair. What do you think Kev?

  31. agirlagunner says:

Impressive, so far, Adam. How’s your hair though? And when are you wearing your ochre velveteen corduroy jacket?

  32. Adam says:

I only wear that when I use my cigarette holder Agag and I always pair it with a cravat.

  33. gonerjoe says:

Defense did well in the first half to keep Liverpool out we are much better in second half we then scored a great goal from a shot from outside the box.

  34. rico says:

    Hi Adam…

    Weather is changing 🙁

Still, will be good for all those with nice grass in their garden.

  35. Adam says:

That is true Rico, but now I don’t have to spend my time weeding and cutting. I have lowered my carbon footprint considerably and can devote my spare moments to the cultivation of soft fruit and even the odd grape. Anything neat really. 🙂 I may even take up Bonsai.

  36. rico says:

That’s me done fine people. You all have a good evening and catch up tomorrow..

Fitness class for me first thing so catch up around 10.30…

Night Adam, agag, Gjoe and all…

  37. Adam says:

I am off for the evening. I have to put the sun beds away. Have a very nice evening everyone, especially you Rico.

  38. allezkev says:

Adam, I hope to see that shirt & trouser combination in Mangals. I will bring my camera.

I last saw that combination, worn by Jimi Hendrix, at Monteray in 1967…

Will you be bringing your Fender Stratocaster as well Adam?

That would be really cool, man…

Lee can bring his crops… Groovy…
