39 year old shows up Arsene Wenger. A cracking game expected today….

Morning all.

After two domestic cup fixtures, today the focus returns to our domestic campaign, one which really needs an injection of something good. Like many fans do I guess, I browsed the official site to see which players were involved in training. To my surprise, there was Jack Wilshere who have obviously recovered quickly from his ankle sprain and that’s not something we’ve been able to say before about Jack after suffering an injury. Sead Kolasinac was training too as was Aaron Ramsey so it looks like our walking wounded are slowly but surely returning to the squad.

I bet Stuart the camera man wishes he’d held this one back.. ?

Also training, and who’d expect anything different, was Alexis Sanchez and I really hope he plays today as I feel it could be the last time we see him in an Arsenal shirt but I guess if any move away is imminent, Arsene Wenger won’t risk him.

Bournemouth are an odd team I think, one which it’s hard to know what to expect from them. Sounds familiar doesn’t it. Our last trip to The Vitality  Stadium was certainly eventful. 3-0 down and to be honest, we looked out of it but somehow and how I don’t know the last twenty minutes saw us come back to nick a point. Ramsey and Sanchez had a bit of a disagreement at 2-0 and Giroud got in a bit of a strop with Mustafi because the German didn’t pass to him. Handbags no doubt borne out of frustration because Eddie Howes team were battering us. A late sending off possibly helped us get the third but even so, drawing with Bournemouth was nothing to be proud of. The fight back yes but the way we were outplayed so easily was really embarrassing.

After that game, Wenger moaned about one team having had plenty of rest while the other, yes his, hadn’t. Nothing changes eh.. It’s little different today either as Bournemouth played eight days ago, whereas we played just a few days ago but that’s the joy of being in the EFL Cup semifinals.

We could do a good another good performance on the road today. The opposition aren’t know for parking the bus, it’s not in Howes dna, so hopefully we’ll see an open game and one with goals. Ours more than theirs of course but having played pretty well at Stamford Bridge, that might be the one monthly decent performance gone for January. Who plays, who knows but one thing we do know is that the team as a whole will pretty much always play the same way, the Arsene way. Little thought given to the opposition and not much more thought given to our own game either. Out you go boys and enjoy.

i watched our old boys play in La Liga last night and all three looked better than they did whilst at Arsenal. Perez might have been on the losing side but still remains much better than a few in our current squad. Gabriel showed what a good and steady central defender he really is and Coquelin, despite being at his new club for five minutes, already looked disciplined and quite at home in the heart of the Valencia midfield. What a difference a good coach makes eh and the Valencia guy is just 39 years old!

Enjoy your Sunday guys, should be a good day of football and I’m looking forward to it. The later match could be a cracker…

Chelsea looked a bit lacklustre against Leicester yesterday, but we’ve had another 24 hours recovery time so no excuses please, just get on with it.

Alexis looks gone, we’re probably just waiting for the final pieces to be put in place, maybe a replacement for Malcom sorted out, then it’ll all go through Monday or Tuesday I guess.

    And we move on…

  2. potter says:

BTW it was Valencia , but yes none of them looked like the little boys lost at our place . No Sanchez , question does Mourinho really want him or does he see a few quid to stop us having him as a fair bet to put us out of the running.? I suppose time will tell.

  3. Le Coq Monster says:

    Afternoon all and thank you,Rico.

Imo one of the weakest team sheets we have put out for a EPL game for years !………………..Wenger`s naive management is finally unfolding to ultimately leave us in Shit Street !………………………..players contracts running down our top two probably on the move for peanuts when relacing them like for like will cost something like CFG spent last summer …………£180M plus !,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,second tier club due to management and board owner…………………………….the future is shite !

  4. potter says:

Arsenal: Cech, Chambers, Mustafi, Holding, Bellerin, Xhaka, Wilshere, Maitland-Niles, Welbeck, Iwobi, Lacazette

Subs: Ospina, Mertesacker, Elneny, Ramsey, Kolasinac, Walcott, Nketiah

    Are they both off ?

  5. Adam says:

Hi Rico. It seems that, once again, Wenger’s curious stance on contracts has allowed circumstances to set the agenda as opposed to himself.

  6. Kk says:

    Afternoon rico and all..
Arsenal and manure agreed a fee of 30 millions for sanchez. .
    Mourinhos done it again !

  7. rico says:

    Afternoon Kk, Adam, all.

Oops, silly me Potter, thanks for the correction.

Alexis to Utd then, didn’t expect that. Mind you, he might hold off until the summer if he wants only City.

What a dreadful situation Wenger has got us into…

  8. andrewh1313 says:

Looks like two lower mid-table Championship teams with little creativity. One bit of magic from MN and just one player trying to get us moving, JW. Who admitted beforehand AW hasn’t spoken to him yet. Can you believe it!

  9. rico says:

    Dreadful so far.

Got lucky with the penalty not given against Iwobi.

AMN was unlucky not to score..

    Jack our best player again..

  10. rico says:

I can Andrew, it’s so typical of Wenger. Hopefully someone else is ready to sort his contract out as if the club leave it Wenger, nothing will happen.

Starting to wonder if Ozil is really injured, having a winter break or he’s off too.

What a bleedin mess this club is in.

  11. Kk says:

One nill to the arsenal. .

yes rico what a mess..wenger was occupied by his own contract issues and neglected his duties towards the squad.
Them two were obviously never going to renew their contracts and should ve been sold in the summer and replaced with quality players.
Now you look at the bench and it’s only Nkieta who may or may not turn out to be decent..
Don’t know what Walcott is going to do..
It’s obvious wenger don’t fancy him ..since his infamous post match interview “they wanted more than us”

  12. rico says:

Agree Kk, Walcott must really peed off seeing Iwobi on the pitch instead of him.

The bench looks better than the one at Notts Forest though.. lol

  13. Kk says:

Can Cech keep a clean sheet?
    Can he save a pnalty?
    Can lacazette score again?
    Can Walcott stay onside?
Can wenger learn anything from the past?
Will he leave in the summer?
    Will he ever leave?

    Lol to all of that!

  14. Lewis says:

I’ve said this multiple times before but if he loved the club like he says he would have resigned a long time ago. Deluded egotistical fuck wit.

  15. potter says:

Lacazette is spending more time outside the box than where he should be on the shoulders of the defence. Feeding off scraps .

  16. Alex says:

    Rico…good afternoon

This is very good result for the on comers but not the fans obviously.

Is crystal clear that this team is absolutely full of dross and is a clear message to whom so ever is coming (manager or players) that there is a lot of rebuild needed.

The club will not sack him and he will not resign………..

At which point is the status quo will not be untenable ?????

Have the board accepted to be a middle table club ?

  17. rico says:

Agree Lewis. But it’s all about him, him and him. He’s as bad as Mourinho..

    I think I did Andrew.

It’s hard to believe Wenger ever won the trophies he has.

  18. andrewh1313 says:

Only crumb of satisfaction is wondering what all the remaining Wenger lovers are thinking now.

Sanchez has carried us for 18 months, and I hope those that have still been knocking him, see what we are without him. He’s been a good pro, not spoken out while under contract and has every entitlement to leave rather than stay in this rabble of a club. Unfortunately for us, he is ambitious, good on him.

  19. rico says:

Well said about Alexis. I’m gutted he’s going, best player Wenger has signed in years and he fails to build around him. It shouldn’t be Alexis leaving, it should be Wenger…

  20. Joaquim Moreira says:

In the School, who wants to put someone of punishment, that takes the student to see an Arsenal game!
    Holy remedy!

  21. andrewh1313 says:

Yep rico. Even last season Sanchez was annoyed after clawing three goals back against Bournemouth, that we had got in that position in the first place. That we had dropped two points. Not too many Winners around these days of inflated wages, I wonder how long before we get another of his ilk? Not only the most talented, not only put in the biggest effort, but also cared the most.

  22. rico says:

Agree again Andrew, he’s irreplaceable imo. But never fear, Wenger has promised to adapt to get the best out of who ‘replaces’ him.

  23. Lewis says:

That starting line up today is the most average team Wenger has ever had. The bloke is a fraud. He had no clue how to assemble a team anymore. It’s farcical.

  24. allezkev says:

All I can hear on the radio is Liverpool players pressing ManC all over the pitch. We couldn’t press a flower.

  25. rico says:

They are a Kev, they’ll beat City if they keep this up. Only good thing to come out of that would be City not going unbeaten.

But who really cares about that now…?

  26. Lee says:

Just fuck off Wenger, you’ve been draining my love for the Arsenal for far too long!! You’ve been finished as a top flight manager for several years…..

  27. Adam says:

Rico. Well, when asked the other day if he would be leaving, he re-iterated his standard crap about never having left a contract early, then asked why he should leave. It appears as if the awful state he has got the club into has eluded him and he sees the truly shocking results as somebody else’s responsibility. Any goodwill, even for the sake of the ‘good times,’ has slipped away now.
My feeling is that, with the season in such a state, the board should take advantage of the situation and sack him now. Letting it drift along is a really poor option. He is not even remotely the future.Every step he takes now might need to be retracted by a new manager unless the intention really is to let him see out next season. There are so many players at Arsenal who have no right to be there and Wenger won’t get rid of them. The only players he loses are the best ones.
For Arsenal be caught in this position when there have been so many warning signs is absolutely shocking.

  28. Le Coq Monster says:

Said it was the worst Arsenal line up in EPL under Wenger`s reign, so not one bit surpised by the result.
Many may think the rot set in with our two superstars not signing new contracts, but the rot set in when The Ox preferred Bindippers to Arsenal on less money !………I miss The Ox as he was one of my first choice players for every game.

We have become as average as Real Madrid !………………but we know they will act !

  29. Le Coq Monster says:

And you know what ?………………………………I dont give a toss that Alexis may be going to who ever, he`s still under contract as an Arsenal player so should have played today !……………bet he preferred to play a game of football than to sit at home looking at properties in Manchester on Rightmove !.

Very disappointed in Lee only saying “fcuk off Wenger” !
    😆

  30. Le Coq Monster says:

I was talkng about the recent rot Mark II, Adam………….or is it Mark III ?
    🙂

How come you do not have a similar term of phrase as your Brudder ?
    🙂

    Are you more controlled ?
    🙂

  31. Le Coq Monster says:

Actually I can trace it back to when Gazidis said we are now in a position to compete with the big boys on transfers and wages…………think he actually used Bayern Munich as an example !……………….they (BM) went on to thrash us 10-2 on agregate in the CL a punishment for taking the piss !

    🙂

  32. Adam says:

LC. I am a bit more controlled – but I have my moments. 🙂

I reckon it’s about Mk 10. Let’s not forget all the big losses Wenger has had. Or was that the players faults too?

Get him out before he wastes more money on another flake like Mikhitaryan

  33. rico says:

Adam, I know what you mean. Any respect I once had for him has gone flying out the window. He’s killin* the club single handily..

  34. Le Coq Monster says:

Looks like we are still going to be the only EPL invincibles for another year……………………it will please Wenger and he will tell Stan about it when negotiting another contract deal tomorrow !. hahaha

See………………Bindippers lose their best player, but because of their style of play can still beat the best !

  35. allezkev says:

Mind you LC, ax controlled as Mr Adam might be on a regular basis I have also seen a recent tendency for him to be incandescent

  36. Kk says:

Wenger is lucky that no back pages is going to talk about hm or his pathetic team performance ..it’s all gonna be about the dippers and city first loss of the season.

  37. Kel says:

unfortunately the club has to continue to fall before change is made. tbh I doubt even the change will bring about Arsenal challenging for the league within the next 5yrs we might contest top 4 after a rebuild nothing more if kronke remains owner.

currently we are over half way through the season and we’re closer to the bottom than the top..

the best players are leaving and it looks like to utd again, once our rivals lol.

and to think some people said be careful what you wish for..

So to all the AKB’S out there that might be reading… suck it up buttercups..

  38. rico says:

Very true Kk, the media seem to love Klopp and his Fab Four.

I know Kev, made me laugh too.. might buy a bag of frozen ones though…

  39. Le Coq Monster says:

I didn`t !………….nice to keep some kind of record !

Wonder if Alexis will play for the U23`s tomorrow ?…………………..and for which team ?…….hahaha

  40. gnarleygeorge9 says:

Arsenal is nothing more than a 3 ring circus these days, Wenger & those 2 other arseholes Kroenke & Gazidis

  41. potter says:

LeCoq,Gabriel,Perez and now the Ox,all improve when they get away from Wenger.
    He’s the common denominator.

  42. Kk says:

rico, PEA is not in Dortmund squad playing now vs Wolfsburg..so 2 plus 2..
He may end up at manure or city knowing our dithering in transfers…

  43. Kk says:

I don’t know if he can cut it in the PL, I don’t know if any player can cut it with wenger. .
One thing I do know, he is better than Iowbe, Walcott, giroud, and welbeck..

  44. rico says:

Yes, I saw he looked awful. Skinny and pale so what’s going on cannot be doing him any good whatsoever. Just read the transcript. Nothing new really.

  45. rico says:

Sky Sports are hanging him out to dry. They’ve just shown his interviews from saying Alexis will stay, to today. Dearie me….

  46. Le Coq Monster says:

Skinny and pale !………………………..you`d think on over £8M per annum he`d be able to afford a decent meal and a spray tan !

  47. Le Coq Monster says:

Rico, have they got a re-run from when he said Arsenal couldn`t be considerred a big club if he got rid of both Cesc and Nasri ?

If I lied to my wife as much as he tells porkies, my wife would have good grounds for divorce !……………………Wenger needs to be divorced from us !……………………..only photographic evidence of him knocking one out using one of Stans Syrups will make Stan take appropriate measures !

  48. Le Coq Monster says:

True !……………..I suppose if he was on the minimum wage like me he`d probably jack it in !
    🙂

  49. Le Coq Monster says:

    I got the 100th comment !………………………I`ll raise my bat !…………..drinks please !.
    🙂

  50. Le Coq Monster says:

Last time I looked Australia won the ashes not Taz`………………
    🙂

Just looked on Untold and they are patting theirselves on the back for their 10 year anniversary of idolising Arsene !…………………talk about blind love !………………if anyone epitomises The Stockholm Syndrome it`s them !……………….their love for their abuser also defines what delusion means !

  51. gnarleygeorge9 says:

I don’t want to be a bearer of bad news, but this period of mediocre for The Arsenal might go on for another 10 years if Wenger stays, then 5-10 more years of rebuild.

  52. Le Coq Monster says:

Actually GG…………….this summer gone, there used to be a bottle neck near Jamaica Inn at Temple.
They were about 9 months behind in the schedule because of a dispute involving pasty`s !………………..just one more bottle neck to clear up now between Truro(near) and Redruth (about 7 miles) then it should be plain sailing all the way through Cornwall, virtually all dual carriageway !……………………….didn`t bother me too much as I know/knew all the ways around the jams !
    🙂

  53. Le Coq Monster says:

Feels like Wenger has been around since 1066 !

Herb !…………………….what do you think of todays dreadfull showing ?………………of CFG losing and us rejoicing that our Invincible record is safe for another season !

    🙂
