£24 Million Deal Done! Thanks For The Memories Thierry….

Morning all.

Well, it was going to be all about the great Thierry Henry today but what is there to say that’s not already been said…

What a man, what a player and what a fantastic signing by Arsene Wenger. If only Jens Lehmann hadn’t had a mad rush of blood in 2006, he’d have won the most prestigious prize in European football with us and he deserved that. To be fair, Arsenal deserved it that year too…..

Thierry scored many many goals, many were good, many were outstanding, so many it’s hard to pick just one. No doubt the solo goal against the nasty neighbours will be up there with the best for many fans, as will be the flick up and then wonder strike to beat Utd. And who can forget the wonderful performance against Liverpool when his hat-trick secured us a victory over Liverpool during Arsenal’s best ever season?

I can’t – it was awesome……

But as said, there were many wonderful moments from the great man but there was also a big gaff. That penalty goof with Sir Bobby – but after we’d won the game, we could all see the funny side. Had it come off, the spot kick would have been remembered for all the right reasons….

Just as Thierry Henry will be for all he gave to football, especially to The Arsenal…

He Deserved More......
He Deserved More……

Young Hector Bellerin posted the above photo on Twitter, accompanied with a comment:

Congratulations @ThierryHenry on a great career. True @Arsenal legend!

He is of course just one of thousands who have paid tribute to a wonderful footballer, a wonderful man and one who wants to one day be manager of the club he says he never left, not in his heart. Speaking to the Telegraph , Henry admitted that managing his beloved Gunners “would be a dream come true”, but said that he would first have to pay his dues in the coaching world.

He’s also got a few years to work for Sky Sports, £24 million he’ll reportedly earn, twice as much as Gary Neville! Not bad eh………..

Retirement? Nah, just a change of job…. Enjoy it Thierry and thanks for all the great memories….

Have a good day folks….

Morning again Scott and all… Thanks …

Perhaps he’ll learn a few tactics from Gary Neville, just hope he stays away from the other two poster boys…

  2. Wath says:

    Morning All,

Rico you sneaky so and so….. Wait til you get the sensitive types on here moaning about who are we buying for 24million…. lol

  3. Wath says:

There I was thinking you had heard we’d actually bought someone and then I knew you were just teasing…..!

    Nasty indeed…! 😉

  4. Wath says:

    Are you mad…. I’d change jobs for 2mil let alone 24…….. 😀

Then again Kev earns that in an hour…! We won’t even mention that’s 10 mins for Lee…..!

  5. Wath says:

The next Vieira we been signing ever since the last Vieira left……………….. bla bla bla…..

The two Brazilian midfielders are also in the news and that Polish midfielder in Spain has gone quiet.

Another 16yr old is hardly going to be able to come in and fix a problem that needs a remedy now is he. We need a 22/23/24yr old that can fit straight into central midfield now…!

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has put an £8 million price-tag on West Ham loanee Carl Jenkinson, as the Hammers look to make the England U-21 internationals deal a permanent one, according to the Daily Star.

The English defender is on loan at Upton Park for the season and has impressed during his spell in east London. West Ham boss Sam Allardyce is keen to make his move a permanent one in the coming months, but it is though he is unlikely to land Jenkinson with Arsenal demanding around £8 million.

The 22-year-old was expected to return back to the Emirates and make an impact, but the acquisitions of Calum Chambers and Mathieu Debuchy over the summer have left Jenkinson in a precarious position.

Hector Bellerin has also made an impression at right-back for the Gunners and Jenkinson seems like he could be on the move in the coming months.

morning, my first chance to hone in on what has been a fantastic week ,for us after the victory against an inform Newcastle team, who just couldnt live with us, showing flashes of the style of play we had become known for, and then to FINALLY get a reasonable draw,to which surely we can advance, and who knows then, a quarter final draw versus Porto or Basle, perhaps,If the gods are shining on us, could scrape to another Final, in the year that Thierry retires. speaking of Thierry, What a player he was, apart from that goal against Utd, Another of my Favourites was he,s GOAL that knocked Madrid out of the Champions League. The first English team to beat Madrid on their own territory. Couldnt help digging this actual recording from The Guardian on that famous night :
47 min – GOAL! Real Madrid 0 – 1 Arsenal Brilliant from Thierry Henry! Absolutely brilliant! From just over the half-way line he turns past Ronaldo and ghosts past three Real defenders before coolly sliding it into the far corner from 15 yards. Superb. ” Thierry your a legend”.

Rico, it gives me no joy to see Soton struggling as they are a brilliantly run club….they make the absolute best of their resources.
I couldn’t see things panning out any differently, is all.

  9. rico says:

Me neither Scott, I like Southampton for the reasons you say and considering the players they have lost over the years, they are doing well. I hope they pick up. Makes me wonder how much they are missing Morgan…

  10. dublingunner says:

Ye Rico we need them nights back, big time. We always had brilliant fans, and still have, but the divide and In-fighting saddens me to watch it. But we must remember we all want the same thing.
Heres to a better and brighter 2015.

  11. rico says:

It saddens me too Dublin, no doubt it’s all frustration because f performances, results and lack of signings. Perhaps and let’s hope that Newcastle will kick start a much better run and January sees a couple of proper signings made….

  12. Wath says:

If the esteemed one buy a couple of proper strong quick and mobile central midfielders in Jan Rico the corner could be turned, the issue is will he…! The other issue of course is will Kos need surgery on that achilles injury.

If the right midfielders are brought in then there is reason for optimism, if not then I think we in for more of the same, displays will all depends which team turns up and how much of a patch work quilt defence we put out.

  13. Wath says:

Agag, We have Alexis… what we need is a Vieira, Petit or a Gilberto… That would be of more benefit at the moment.

    I trust your well.

  14. rico says:

Have to agree Wath, last chance saloon is where he is sitting….

I see the dwarf reckons he was very close to signing Henry…. Tit!

  15. agirlagunner says:

Boo, GG Man!! How’s your stock for the holidays? Been difficult to source GG, I believe you have hoarded supplies yet again. 😉 I hope you’ve finished your Christmas shopping.

rico, I’m liking the new boy, too. 🙂 🙂 He’s not half bad, is he? 😉 How do you rate his thighs? 😛

The dwarf just has to have something to say; he’s irrelevant if he’s not being being weird or controversial or both.

  16. Wath says:

    Thighs she said Rico… Thighs……………

All well with the GG stocks AGAG am sorry if you don’t have much, you need to let me know earlier will send you some 😉

I definitely will not be running low on stocks…!

  17. agirlagunner says:

Hah, rico. I knew you’d have checked out his thighs. 😛 Alexis’, I mean, not Diaby’s. 😛

WATH, rico’s site is for general patronage; mind your language. Haha. 😛

I see the special ego has made silly claims that he came close to signing Henry for Barcelona, says this was when Henry went to Juventus, (missed by an inch he claims) he also says it was while Bobby Robson was manager, and the media go along with it despite all the flaws in the premise, such as how could Mourinho sign Henry when he was only an interpreter, secondly Henry joined Juve in January 99, Robson was long gone from Barcelona at that time, he was manager at PSV. The special ego has to make even the retirement of a legend all about himself, what a tiresome little man he is.

  19. rogerbij says:

A wee shout out to my original home town, Auckland City going down 2-1 to San Lorenzo in extra time in the semis of the Fifa World Club Cup. Not bad for genuine amateur players who were expected to lose first round… hit the post near the end and so close to playing Real Madrid in the final. Just typing that makes me laugh! Well done lads.

  20. scottfromoz says:

    Lee, I do.
I usually would say that anyway 🙂 but this time I think even he knows he has to.
Who and how much…….who knows, but they’d better be quality.
    Hi Rico.
