Morning all.
I hope Arsene Wenger made sure the players were up early, very early, in fact so early they think this match kicks off at 3pm.
Injuries:
Liverpool are without Daniel Agger, Jose Enrique, Glen Johnson and Mamadou Sakho.
We are without Mathieu Flamini, Aaron Ramsey, Thomas Vermaelen, Theo Walcott, Yaya Sanogo, Abou Diaby and his new mate, Kim Kallstrom.
Put those injured together and you could have a full starting eleven…
Liverpool clearly have problems at the back, what team wouldn’t with four key defenders missing and today is certainly a day to test that defence. None of this fifteen passes in attempt to get around them, be direct, put them under pressure and see if they crack. I hope we see a bit of pace in the side too, I know we don’t have players as quick as Theo in the side but neither Gnabry or Chamberlain are slow, if either or both start, they need to be driving through the heart of the Liverpool defence or making the kind of run we saw OC make last weekend and be there ready for Santi or Mesut to place their pass…
Don’t give their midfield anything, don’t give them time on the ball or a chance to feed to two forwards. Want that ball, keep that ball and make sure every pass finds a team-mate.
At the back, more of the same determined and dogged defending which we have seen this season and Giroud, when Sagna get’s the ball down the right, he has to be in the area ready and waiting and not half way up the pitch still trying desperately to get there in time….
In my opinion, this fixture could turn out to be one of the most important in our season so far, win it and we kick on full of confidence, lose it and the doubting niggles could start to creep into the players minds and we don’t want or need that.
Twenty five years ago Michael Thomas was an Arsenal hero and he still is today for ‘that’ goal:
Not a day goes by that someone doesn’t talk to me about the goal. Everywhere I go it’s with me and I’m very proud of that. It was the highlight of my career, but it wasn’t just my achievement. It was Arsenal’s achievement.
I can remember it vividly. I made a last burst forward hoping someone would pick me out. I got a lucky bounce off Steve Nicol and then I was in on Bruce Grobbelaar. It seemed to take an age before I had the shot. Even when I see it now, I expect me to shoot sooner. When the ball hit the net it was just incredible.
Seconds later the ref blew the whistle and we were champions. I didn’t think you could get any more dramatic. We won it on goals scored at the home of one of the best teams in the world.
It’s all about the future now. Our team won the title back then and the likes of Patrick Vieira and Thierry Henry did it a decade ago with the ‘Invincibles’.
It’s time for this current side to do it.
He’s right!
This is a huge game, it should be a great game and if our boys are all playing from the same song sheet, it will be our game to win…
COYRRG’s….
morning All..big big game for our lads..Arteta need to replicate d form he showed when we beat them at emirates..i don’t know why i’m nt nervous at all..COYRRG
I’m nervous Kc….
12.45 ko’s always make me nervous…
I will start Rosicky alongside Arteta and shift d OX at RW…poldi, jack and gnabry as d super subs..hopefully we ll nt need them
Morning Rico..don’t be nervous..after all u hate stats re d 12:45 KO…but if we MIRACULOUSLY keep a clean sheet against d MEDIA HYPED SAS…it ll do our defence and confidence lot of good…honestly in d grand scheme of things I will take a draw in as much we give MOYES boys d pounding they deserve
Morning Kc, your comments are hard to read sometimes with all the abbreviating…
I’m still nervous but looking forward to ko…
Rico,if we contained them like we did at the Emirates and also lucky,we could come home with the 3 points.
Why do you hate the early KO matches?
Xr’s – because we seldom perform well when we ko early and we can’t afford not to play well today…
Hope Newcastle spring a surprise later…
Morning all!
How is the weather like in Liverpool?
I’m not very confident for today
I’m watching the olympic games from socchi
Noted Rico…AW should tell Arteta to sit deep and play like a third defender the way we played at Emirates..IMO Gnabry will offer more threat on the wing than d OX(i guess Aw will shift him to the wing)..5 points clear of the table will make a perfect weekend…COYG
Boring Boring Chelsea
Not sure JM but no doubt it’s very wet and very windy just like it seems to be across the entire Uk…
Morning Rico
if we can score them early i think we will gain more confidence to put pressure them.. I confident that we will prove our critics wrong.. COYRRG
Morning All
Morning Rico, excellent post…
12.45 ko, huh, about time we got that nonsense out of our system and bloody performed properly. Today is the first of 3 seminal games in 8 season defining days…
Our team need to turn up!
Arsenal’s great defence vs Scousers over-hyped attack.
Arsenal’s technical midfield vs Scousers workmanlike midfield.
Arsenal’s resolute attack vs Scousers suspect defence.
Szczesny needs to outperform Minolet….
Arsenal need to win, but cannot lose, so a draw looks the most likely result, although I think that this Arsenal team, against all the odds, can win up there…
I suspect he will Kc..
Morning Kev, McR
I hope to see us taking more shots and running at Kolo, he’s a liability these days..
Thanks Kev and a very good comment….
COYRRG’s I say…..
I went up there last season when Diaby was awesome and Podolski led the attack.
Podolski had a great game as our lone attacker and Santi was magical, scoring a magical 2nd goal. Lukasz got the first…
The players need to reflect on those good memories as the Scousers will be nervous.
Nevermind all that ‘Kop atmosphere’ rubbish, our boys have the tools to silence them…
Having beaten the scouses this season we must have an advantage mentally,
we know we can beat them,
The scouses……………know we can beat them.
Should Podolski start, i think we will have more shots..
You should put that ticket on ebay Kev, aren’t many around for a game when Diaby has played 😉
I am getting mightily fed-up with all this Media inspired crap about Arsenal’s nightmare month…
Nightmare month!!!!
What a load of bollocks….
These are ‘the games’ that we follow football for…
These are ‘the games’ that get the heart racing…
I love these games, the chance to show what a great team we have…
The chance to stuff all the criticisms back down the throats of the doubters…
The are ‘the games’ that Rico spend hidden behind the settee…
That’s what we want.
Because if Rico is behind the settee, then Arsenal have got something to play for… 😉
OK, I have a cup of tea with AK on it….
COYFRRG
Rico… 😆
The atmosphere will be no worse than in Dortmund and we beat them on their own turf..
One of their fas was on here yesterday fred, he was concerned for today.
I’d expect Podolski to start and praying he’s got his shooting boots nicely polished….
😆 Kev, I have to go out just after the game kicks off, an 80th birthday visit… No not mine!
Thankfully BT Sport will be available, and a very big sofa 😉
Morning Rico and all,
Michael Thomas’s goal now another similar one will do today…
I’m a lil’ worried about today just because everyone is talking about Suarez’s lack of goals against the big 4;the saturday lunch time kick-off hoodoo will also be in the back of some of the players minds…
but if we can keep them quite in the first half we can nick it or even a draw will see us remain top on goal difference.
I heard that JW will be playing next to MA08 based on yesterday’s training… I was expecting TR07 to be played there instead with Ozil playing on top of Lucas and Gerard…
Wenger on Sagna: “We are not close to extending his contract. He’s a great player but he’s keeping his options open.

Morning Ts & Dg, thanks as always for the streams Dg..

Morning Madam,
Sorry missing a few games lately. Busy bee, hey…… LOL
will settle for 2-1 today… c’mon the real Reds…
🙂 Dg, shame on you lol
I’d settle for 1-0 win by an own goal Ts..
The dippers : Mignolet, Flanagan, Cissokho, Toure, Skrtel, Gerrard, Henderson, Sterling, Coutinho, Suarez, Sturridge…
Please Cissoko, and Henderson have a stinker…
big game and with their backline ravaged with injuries we should get this job done – lets hope Scotties constants, about Suarez not scoring against the big boys holds true again tonight. Really concerned about another top player walking out – will hurt us big time
COYG’s!!!!!!!
1-0 would do me too Rico – 3 points please anyway they come
So as I suspected TR07 has been omitted… well
Szczesny Sagna Mertesacker Koscielny Monreal Arteta Wilshere Chamberlain Ozil Cazorla Giroud
Whats up with Gibbs latest omissions…
2-1 to the good guys!
no gibbs?
Lets’ give Brenda and his ilks a hammering with that patched up back 4… there front 4 is very solid plus Gerrard and Henderson dictating their play…
True Rico,Oz at this stage of the season 3 points is 3 points…
Hiya Dg… how is your harem treating you? 😉
A bench of Rosický, Podolski & Gnabry will be enough to inject some energy if needed… maybe not Poldi .. lol
would have played Rosicky myself – his industry is important in these types of games – we loose the midfield we loose the game
BFG/KOZ;
They shall not pass….
2-0 to the Arse
good test for them tonight Kev – we must focus on getting into the heart of their defence though – Ozil needs to step up tonight chase, work back and run at them
Suarez, Sturridge, blah, blah, fcuking blah…
Just have a look at the rest of their team…
It certainly doesn’t scare me!
Starve Suarez/Sturridge of service, simples!!!
You OK Oz?
Lata
yeah doing alright mate – a few nerves about tonight – could go wrong very easily but all things considered we should come through this first test of many coming our way now
last season corresponding game finished with Poldi scoring his first goal for us…
Diaby dominated the midfield 3 of Gerrard, Sahin and the so called ‘Welsh Xavi’..
Catch up later guys..
COYRRG’s…
Kev, are you going to the Stoke game on the 1st?
Afternoon all – extremely nervous today.
Today would be a huge win a head of 4 massive home games on the bounce
oh well – its these types of pressure games you see what ya got – lets hope we are calm and precise and get it done.
Hmmm??? Wenger: “Our target is to control the game. We come here with a huge desire to win the game.
ok, in the road to anfield
Catch you later
OG12/Ozil goal please…
SC19, Arteta…
One of our CB’s has a goal in this game
What h,as Podolski done to upset Wenger?? Although I don’t know where he’d fit given that JW10 is back in again.
If we win I’ll forgive Le Chef if we don’t the vitriol will. Burst forth unabated!
SaS well they’re shite, aren’t they?!!!!
Podolski didn’t do enough in the last game and with jack being back it was either poldi or the ox and with 2 goals last time out there was no contest
It looks like its going to be a long one with Owen commenting…
Oh no…
Noon kick-off… tsk
Clear offside but Owen didn’t see that I guess…
Ginge, Stoke?
Not sure mate, I’m going to the FAC next weekend, but Stoke, it’s down to my lad, he’s got my old season ticket now…
He pays for it, but sometimes he legs his dear old Dad use it…
COYFRRG
*lets*
*legs*!!! 🙄
Well there goes my 2-0… 🙁
come on boys…
please wake up…
Proper disaster
We lose to this lot we won’t win a thing this year!
Awful awful awful defending.
Should be 3 down…..
we need a goal this half…
come on…
The 2nd goal is a replica of the goal we conceded against Chelsea last season…
Where is Micko btw?
We could get spanked here. That would be embarrassing!
3? We should be 5 down
Poor line up imho… with too many ‘bottlers’ in the front 5…
TR07 should have started… Ox is having a defensive’ mare… Serge more tactically aware against the better teams for me…
Dear me… Ozil has paid for that one…
Ozil doesn’t deserve his place in this team at the moment
Wondered what would happen when we played a half decent team!
Done watching this.
is the ref being serious??
https://twitter.com/Gooner_AK/status/432134404153282560/photo/1
4-0… with 20 minutes gone…
This is unbelievable, 30 days to strengthen the squad and looks what’s happening.
AW should let me manage this team when we k.o at 12:45…
Poor line-up and preparation…
Our front 5 starting position is shocking…
MA 08 with the captain of arsenal. Lol
Is this where it all unravels? I truly hope not
Down spirits with Bayern and City next.
What a monumental cock up.
The FA have something to explain. Why do they employ blind lines men??
4-0. Is this a joke?! Good old February, always a dark month for gooners!
woody I’m 100% agreeing with your 1:03 pm right now. All three goals he gave the ball away.
Wenger showed his title ambitions in the January window….fucking unbelievable!!! Still, give him a new lucrative deal.
who’s going to do an AA23 for us today?? c’mon the Arsenal..
Damage limitation please…
Goal difference not good we move to 23rd if the chavs and $hitty win…
Ts, AW is past it the globe knows that’s.
NG – it’s not the first time either. He plays so slowly, it’s like he’s still in Spain.
He needs to realise that this is premiership football
AW, guilty as charged. Why are you always trying to appease certain players?
Aw’s selection today was appalling Dna…
When we bough Ozil, I said that if we play Ozil with TR07 and Ramsey most fans will be on his case…
If I was Aw, every 12:25 k.o I will play Gibbs and Monreal together on the lhs and drop one of our attack minded players…
But he select what most fans wanted so..
The way I see the game… I do not rate JW, Ox, SC19 in the big games… most will agree because they are allegedly skilful…
But to me they are very poor tactically; And as Pep said in the past live on TV most academies have a dozen of those types of players but he does not consider them special…..
Our fan base is scared of changes that’s why AW is still at arsenal.
we move to 3rd even re my 1:12pm
Have you seen how certain players are just strolling around…?
Only AW will tolerate that shite…
Like I asked a few weeks ago, how the heck is Aw playing a young boy who had been out for 5 months and started only 4 games out of his 25 appearances in 2 seasons…
I just don’t believe I’m seeing the same Ozil of RM in an Arsenal shirt.
Are Ox and Sc19 not meant to be playing on the rhs & lhs?
They offer no protection to the fbs’…
Ozil doesn’t understand counter attack or hitting teams on the break. As soon as he gets possession the game has to stop
Well let’s see what Arsenal comes out for thee second half
Ng, this is Ozil’s game though…
Maybe this league is a bit fast but this is Ozil…
He performs better with intelligent players next to him… the reason why all his better games have come with TR07 playing…
Until we start playing or buying intelligent players we will come unstuck in the crucial games… imho
My post at 12:30… questioned how Aw thought he could dominate the game with this line-up but hey…
This is a disgrace.
It sounds like Anfield are trying to get Wilshere sent off.
Wilshere’s gonna get sent off if he keeps that up
Why are we always capable of doing this. Fucking disgraceful. Like they’ve never played together before.
Bould and AW are sitting 10 yards from OX and they can’t tell him to help Sagna… 😡
A average Liverpool side using arsenal to wipe the floor, some 1 need to grab AW and give him a soccer punch.
T’s. AW got this coming. He’s been messing up too many times now. TW, appeasing certain players and formations. It just too hard to defend him when he makes such poor decisions.
Rosicky on oil off pls
Oil = Ozil
Same shit different season.
Disgraceful…
First time Awe have conceded 4 goals in the EPLduring a first-half in 13 years.
Lets not go overboard – it’s one game and we certainly cannot complain with the results so far this season
A typical example of an appeasement is Jack.
T’s. He plays sometime as if Arsenal is forcing him to play for them. Now I begin to see some of the reasons why RM sold him. His attitude is very poor.
Why buy Ozil and have MA08 playing DM, no other sports organization would allow AW to bring the franchise to his level, the man is pass it. Playing with MA08 and OG12 is like playing with 9 players.
oh dear – wake up for everyone I think, fans, manager and players alike, we could easily be six down now
soccer punch Dna… is that American? 😀
True Ng… I use to love AW’s policy but this season I have been very critical of him even when we are winning…
AW failing to rotate in November leading us to win 1 in 7 and having crucial injuries was the final nail for me..
As I said during that time ( as I was privy to some data h) I could not get my head around why he was still playing Ozil and AR16 when they fatigue figures were in the red…
I also questioned his selection even before we kick-off …
Wood, what is there to defend? AW have been doing the same shit for years and expecting different results.
me too tsgh – didn’t look right to me either
The scousers aren’t half the team Bayern are, or city. Genuinely worried for our season.
I still believe we will win the league but we will continue to capitulate in the big games like this imo..
You did Oz… true
let’s hope we don’t end up with another March with all success possibilities gone – Liverpool have backed right off a couple of quick ones and who knows. Trouble is we’re so slow now days
Again a trip North results in no return – can’t keep doing this – we seem so poor today and plenty out there don’t seem to bothered do they?
Should we expect changes?
1 week to prepare for a game and this is the result.
the first goal wasn’t offside? however, we were very lack in the first 30 seconds! The ball was so easy and Mets was completely away from the game
Like I wrote before, Arteta-Wilshere-Cazorla-Ozil does nort work.. AW try this again.
We are tired. Giroud is tired. Ozil is completely away from the Game. wilshere must be replace quickly.
Hope we win 2-0 at the second half because the three points were dropped.
And like i posted before: our first target should have been Cabaye or another Cabaye and the second a central forward.
Flaminy is very importante in the teama because Arteta is slowly, hasn’t any player playing beside him (without Ramsey and flamini) and Kos and Mets are not quickly enought
6 at city 4 to the half at Liverpool – loss at the other very average United – not looking good is it? How bad is Ozil playing, amazing
Gone are those days when two to three touches would put us in the other teams half in counter-attack.
MA08 will/has to move this summer… he has been a great servant but his time is up… all he has to accept being bit part
The question is with Fernando, Matic, Sven, Matuidi, Josuha all wanting to stay with their clubs who can be an upgrade unless we can get Schnerderlein… maybe Kroos can be nicked too…
AW allowing Yennaris, Aneke etc who can actually read the game to leave so he can play Ox as a DM is like fraud to true football loving fans who may not care about the number of English players in the starting XI…
agree Nash, those are now memories. Gob smacked by this
tsgh – Wenger looks confused to me TBH. I think he’s been that way in the heat of battle way to many times over the years
We’ve been poor in many games. We seem to have one player that performs. wilshere, then Cazorla and last week Ox to save us in the game.
Agree Jm.. to me Cabaye would have been perfect but section of fans do not rate him so… and AW does not believe in paying more than £10M for a defensive minded player…
To me he is an intelligent player…
Intelligent players help a team dominate and win trophies… ‘tourist pay to watch skilful players… Saatchi- AC Milan.
5-0… no excuse this time…
Oh god, no fucking changes same shit. AW is a big Cnut.
Agree Oz, I wrote in my post Everton match post… common denominator imho…
When Song was working for JW to shine some never notice and give him credit for it. Some say he was shit.
5! Honestly can’t believe this!
Very true Ng…
Pep said the same and then Barca bought Song… but Song was deemed not to be good by our fans so…
JW is a very good player… unfortunately being English the media praise has affected his ability to LEARN as he should have imho…
Most people I know who watch other leagues do not rate JW much… at least not as much as AW and pundits do…
Surely now Wenger? Or does he think they’re gonna come back in this and beat United?
I hope all AKBs sleep and don’t fucking wake, they are all part of this shit. Defending AW through years of failure.
Now we can see why i said arteta hasn’t got pace. Even d referee can ghost past him
https://vine.co/v/MuhFnmIWBvL
This is what Dna should do to AW…
Can you believe this is Arsenal playing? 5 down to L’pool???
Ts, that a waste of time when I have my 45.
Never a fan of JW and arteta pivot and never will be.
Hiya Emma… everyone knows MA08 and the BFG do not have pace…
When he plays with AR16 and TR07 its not an issue though…
To me MF20 is even worse…
😀 .45 are not allowed in the uk…
OG12 off. These are the reasons why we been calling for another prolific CF since last summer.
Fans will again blame MA08 but I will be asking why our front 5 have not created anything against Flanagan, Toure & Cissokho.
That’s why AW always gets away with being such a big Cnut.
Emma- to me the question is, should JW and Ox be starters in these type of games?
I LOVE Jw and respect his honesty too…
He has 2 or 3 interviews where he has said that ‘he was never the best at his level but is grateful to AW for giving him a chance’….
Arsenal makes Toure look World Class!!!!!
Ng, to me Suarez will not improve us…
What we need is a big game player…
He does not turn up in the big games (both for Liverpool and Uraguay) where we already do not turn up and need someone to come in and turn up so…
I hope I have not jinxed it by saying that…
Was the camera lady copping a feel of Henderson’s backside? 🙂
Ag at this stage who really cares who else scores.
Can someone tell me what JW’s dribbling success rate is?? lol
ts – In my opinion wilshere should never have started. He doesn’t look match fit hence compounded with arteta slow pace.
Old senile French Cnut.
Now we really need to see our mental toughness to come back from this in tough games
If Chelsea are only ‘a little horse’ where does that leave us?
‘Kin Shetlands!
Or should that read ‘Shitlands’!
This game is a Big Big question mark on our intention for title contender!!!!
Mourinho have his flaws but the man is a winner, the resources a club like arsenal have we should never b humiliated by a shitty team like Liverpool, I hope Josh advises his father and Stan sack AW, he is bringing down the franchise.
It doesn’t change anything imo…
we will win the league but bottle it against the better teams…
I reckon two words sum that up….
Fucking disgraceful
Fucking gutless
Fucking embarrassing
Fucking shit………………..!
Think that about sums it all up….!
Ah 2 more………….
Grey Goose
Unbelievable scoreline. It’s being coming. We have being playing sloppy football for d last couple of weeks if we don’t beat manure on wed we should kiss d league goodbye.
I hope the fabs now realize how pointless it is to defend OG12 and MA08.
Afternoon Wath. No good then?
New contract for a worker who increase his incompetency yearly, buy an injured player in the last transfer window and he deserve a statue outside the playing ground. Congrats to the fan base who sits in the Ems like its a Anglican Church.
Not just those two DNA….they were all shite!
Adam, I wouldn’t bother watching MOTD tonight….just a heads up brudder!
If only we hadn’t sold Gervinho….
Seen plenty of rain lately but..
That was the biggest shower of shite from a good arsenal team.
Wenger once again under-prepares our team.
Half the team need dropped, oh wait we can’t because our squad is so thin! Still can’t believe that Liverpool team put 5 past us, that is fucking outrageous!
I won’t be watching at all Lee.
When the score was 1 nil, OG 12 should have scored. It might sound harsh but Walcott and Ramsey shouldn’t b the ones injured, it should be OG12 and MA08.
Nothing bad about the GG Adam………….. 😉
we may have a 100m in the bank but my word its come at a cost. 6 at City 5 at Anfield at the business end – dear oh dear. So many shockers out there from front to back
The entire world can predict the outcome of arsenal season.
The referee/linesman cheated us for the first goal, which lifted them/crowd and fucked our game plan…
Changed the whole dynamics if the match…
No excuse for the rest…
But we need perspective here….
We’ve done exceptionally well to still be in contention up to this point…
We mustn’t lose our heads….
Having said all that, the son of a very good friend of mine predicted three years ago that Wenger wouldn’t win another trophy, and so it seems likely to pass.
i ask again, the Wenger promise was no new contract unless he can prove he can bring trophies to the team – so if by March we sit fourth and out of everything – will he keep his word? not on your life.. watch the excuses flow as will those of his supporters.
Oz, there was no player available in Jan who could strengthen the squad, so the AKB general buy a injured 1 to please people who ask for new signings. JW, MA, NM & OG12 should be dropped.
Gotta ensure we finish in top three….
Forget Champions Lge, Wenger will never win that…
The FACup remains an outside chance I suppose, as long as both City and Chavs go out…
GunnerDNA – the window was a disgrace, another one but then we’re used to seeing the needed positions ignored by now. Wenger knows best you know. He looked hapless and out of ideas there today as he did at City. The game has passed him by and as the season hots up and teams start to step up, we’ll see more of this IMO – It will be passed off as one of those days again no doubt… another one against decent opposition
Kev, only three years? I have been online predicting that for twice that time 🙂
I got to admit it, JW is a average, overrated player. Arsenal fans allow AW to ruin there main sports. Luckily we have the NBA to give us a bit of joy.
Afternoon all,
I was expecting this after all the talk of our defending. At one stage we were 5.0 down fans were leaving the ground in their dozens and who can blame them, after all Liverpool is a long way to travel to see your team outplayed in every department. Luis Surez Sturrage and Stirling showed what pace against the lack of pace can do, Yes we have to hold our hands up and acknowledge that Liverpool, well and truely kicked our arses. Now i am not just blaming our defence as poor as they were but also our midfield playmakers who gave the ball away at every opportunity. Our lack of creativity was pittyful I counted one scuffed shot by Chamberlain and a backheader from Giroud apart from that we passed ourselves to death until we gave it away. Liverpool really must have thought it was their lucky day as we were as poor as a championship side, and that is being unkind to them down there. Arsenal and Arsene had no idea what to do, no tactical plan to slow down Liverpool’s dominance. In fact Arsene was so shocked he brought subs on on the 60 minute mark. Far to late to change the game but he had to do something. I have said many times pace will be our downfall up front as well as defence and when an outfit like we saw today can rip us apart with complete ease shows everybody where our weaknesses are. I don’t think we will be bragging about our defence next week.
Oz, notwithstanding today’s game, this season has been progress.
I know that it’s a disappointing result Oz, and Adam has been telling me that he can see this coming, and as usual he is correct, but we’ve competed for the first time in six years, so there is light at the end of the tunnel….
Just not sure that we’ll come out into the light with the present manager in charge?
kEV, Its February mate with most top clubs having gone through massive managerial changes. Mind you facts are – Chelsea, Man city, Everton and even Man U remain unbeaten by us and we now we receive our second hammering at the hands of a top 4 club.
Hi Kev. I wish I had been wrong but I have been watching the team closely for a while and have been wondering why Wenger can’t motivate players these days. There are easy answers but no doubt the real reasons for days like today are many and complex. The last good performance I saw was Spurs in the cup. What I do believe is that throwing away 2 transfer windows makes no sense. If you aren’t moving forward in top level football, then you are going backwards. The big decision now is whether it makes any sense for Wenger to sign on for another 3 years. Sticking with someone because you can’t see an alternative seems weak.
I don’t think we need to panic just yet, yes i know its a big shock but we have to realise that so was Aston villa’s result and that kick started our season. Today we were very poor and it has to be said it could so easily have been worse, but with all the players giving interviews to anybody that will listen will be like a kick in the teeth. Knuckle down take this defeat for what it was, (an eye opener) and get back on track for the run in. City got their arses kicked last week, but they will still believe the league is still on. So must we.
sp1 i thought City was the big eye opener?
What a shower of shite that was.
The players and manager should hang their heads in shame after that gutless and totally unimaginative performance!!
The first goal was offside, but the other four were all down to us playing so so badly as a team..
Disgraceful….
Rico, 1 of the defenders legs seems to play him onside. The problem was why AW sit and allow the game to be lost in 16 mins? The players he buys tells what type of person AW is, shy guys with feminine personalities.

That performance in the first 20 mins reminded me of the Bayern game at the Ems every player flew at the Arse playe rwho had the ball. Whenever in possession they closed us down using at least 4 players just surrounding the ball, stealing it and rapidly progressing forward. Liverpool did the same today, high energy chasing, closing down and winning the ball or forcing an error. We don’t know how to play against this tactic and neither does Wenger! Until we learn how to cope with this high powered game, we will win nothing!
What surprised me was how such technically gifted players were so poor when controlling the ball, laying it off and or passing it. They were really poor, really, really poor.
Back to the drawing board I think!
Hi Rico. What you say is correct but what, if anything, happens next? I am more interested in the bigger picture and where the club is heading. Man Utd on Wednesday gives us an opportunity to bounce back but, with his new 3 year deal hovering, just what is Wenger going to do about this debacle? Not the next interview, which we can predict, but the future. Will he change to adopt to modern football?
Gdna, didn’t look like it to me but to be honest, it mattered little, we offered nothing and have/had no alternative…
What pees me off is it was clear we weren’t right early on but what happens? Nothing, same old same old from the bench…
I’m not going to resort to name calling though….
Some of the name-calling on here this afternoon from the usual people has been disgusting. Really horrible stuff and not what HH is about at all.
Hi Adam, if he doesn’t, this new contract will seriously bite Kroenke on the backside…
We can sign all the players we like in the summer but if AW doesn’t change his ideas and tactics, then nothing will change..
You said you had reservations, well today’s trip to Anfield showed why you were and are right to have them.
This has been coming, most saw it coming. Well, barring the manager….
Yes, I agree.
Name calling is what used to go on in school playgrounds. Pack it in from now or head off elsewhere..
HH is better than that and there are plenty of other Arsenal websites out there who might welcome such ghastliness, but not this one…
Oz, it’s worse than that, Liverpool aren’t even a top four club 😉
There is no obduracy in the team, no stubborn resistance. If things don’t immediately go their way there is no sense that we will either adapt or force the issue.
After all these years we seem ill-equipped to adapt in real-time.
Rico, name calling or not, we just have to be realistic, AW is a big pussy. Money in the bank and big stadium only amounts to nothing, not even Michael Jordan don’t get the love that AW gets. I would not be surprised if AW is not a drug addict.
Ffs.
Kev, I agree re the top 3. Get 3rd and CL football sorted and see what the summer brings…
I’m not sure we’ll be hearing AW has signed a new contract until the end of March…
That’s enough for me Gdna, off for a shower you go….
Adam, I agree totally with that summation. Historically. McLintock, Adams, Vieira were all past masters at seeing ‘the game’ and positional or tactical shortcomings and had the power and authority to change it on the field. Recently BFG seemed to have taken some responsibility and Arteta should have been more proactive but neither of them got a grip today and neither did anyone else. JW10 tried, by example bit none of the other players seemed to ‘get it’!
If there is blame to apportion here, who are the guilty parties? Is it the manager, who has somehow ‘missed a trick’ our do we blame the players for just all being poor. Or do we blame Liverpol for, on the day, just being better than us?
Anyway, lost 5-1 ………..move on………we play another poor side on Wednesday, who are also not top 4 material……….outcome assured! Please, reverse today’s result and it won’t seem quite so disastrous.
well what a pathetic performance that i had the displeasure of watching live 🙁 (left at HT) lacklustre, no energy, clueless performance, Arteta was simply bypassed in mid and tbh we were lucky it wasn’t another 8 imo, all i can say is thank god we have a 10/11/15 point gap over spurs, everton, utd… because we are gonna need it.
We saw this coming no doubt about it. The two past TW tells us a lot. And to speak the truth AW has become complacence as Arsenal manager. We have seen 8-2, 6-3 and 5-1. What’s next?
OG12 goes off, who comes in?
Just exactly what we been asking for, another prolific CF.
Wavy. As someone old enough to have seen many Arsenal teams over the years I have always admired Wenger’s commitment to the game, as he sees it. But I have always been concerned that a degree of pragmatism has been sacrificed on the alter of his idealism. I watched Chelsea play Man City with a degree of reluctant admiration. I detest Mourinho like any right-thinking man yet I yearned that Wenger could somehow take on a degree of that tactical win-at-all costs by out thinking the opposition and being hard, firm, tight and stubborn when the game required. This won’t happen now and that’s the way it is. I have spoken privately to my friends Rico, Kev, Lee and Rocky about it many times. As I recall, when I suggested Mourinho (knowing it to be contentious) for Arsenal last summer, imagining that a winning team would mean we would admire, if not love him it fell on stoney ground. It seems not be a coincidence that Wenger has never beaten him. But then again we whacked West Ham and Chelsea could only draw. It’s not an exact science is it? 🙂
Rocket science football is not! You right though for al the innovative things Wenger has done, diet, drinking, training etc he has imo always been tactically naive. It’s probably is the reason why SAF, Moronyo and even Pulis have got the better of him. I feel he lacks the ability to ‘change direction’ when things go sour and quite often, like today, he does not set the team up properly. I’m sure here prepares ‘his team’ but if Cesc was to be believed, after he left us, Wenger pays little or no heed of what the opposition plays like, who their best players are and who to kick or not to kick! Etc etc. the team are prepared but only half prepared, imo – again! During the glory days this didn’t really matter too much as we had outstanding match winners who when given the ball could almost score at will. We don’t have that now, sadly.
This is a good team, not a great one, but its better than we’ve had in past few years and may yet surprise us. I fervently hope so.
🙂 Adam, I hate the little squirt but no way would we have lost 5-1 today under him… (she whispers quietly) 😉
Last remark,
I just can’t see Le Chef changing at all now. He’s too long in the tooth, assuming they are all his own or toothless if he has none left!! A bit like his tactical awareness!
If that truly is the case Wavy, then things really need to change.
I think Kev was pretty much spot on earlier….
AW found wanting tactically again against one of the stronger teams in the league. No shock there, sure we’ll see it a lot over the next 6 weeks.
Surely we can beat utd at home though, right?!
Hmmm, not so sure we will Lewis..
Wenger is the £24 million safe option for Kroenke and as for this board finding someone to replace him? That would be a nightmare ride I think. But, if he doesn’t win something this year having declined the opportunities afforded by two transfer windows and insisting that Giroud is enough (I can’t bring myself to include Bendtner) then he has played all his cards and surely big questions must be asked.
I don’t think the issue is tactics but rather personnel to execute the task at hand. Too many square pegs in a round holes. Arteta is as slow as a snail, flamini is not d answer to our DM situation as he cannot tackle, midfielders playing as wingers with the tendency to always cut in instead of getting to the byline. We are missing ramsey and theo badly
Emma. I agree. For a man who placed so much emphasis on pace I find it quite incredible how it doesn’t seem to concern Arsene these days.
Safe but very expensive Adam..
emma, did you think there would come a day when you typed we are missing Theo? 😉
But yes, you are right. AW is obsessed with midfielders yet what we truly need is wingers, good wingers. Then we’d see a very very different style of play…
Adam – ditto
rico – 😉 theo theo theo
I am very depressed this evening but wish you all a peaceful night. I might even open a bottle of something nice.
Night all.
Night Adam..
I have resorted to watching the rugby and cheering England on… 😉
Merts on facebook:
‘Sorry guys, this was a poor game of the whole team. But we have to stand together in this defeat. We have to get our heads sorted now and get ready for the next very important games again’.
Szczesny on facebook:
“That was f….ing embarrassing!
“Apologies to anyone who sat through 90mins of that game.”
Off to eat, laters….
rico – hope they all take a close look at themselves in the mirror when they all get home. Only consolation was shitty drew
When midweek li predicting AW for the game , and as I had the opportunity to write here , I was worried and predicted then a debacle .
AW once again fails to realize the following : a) Arsenal have a predictable or game that gets quickly ( very quickly ) in the game and then, with a well structured and balanced , with players of average or superior team is much difficulty b ) the opposing team always plays in front of the game . In a team like Arsenal , showcasing various features and average offensive little data to defend in that extreme are the side defenses , in which central defenders are not fast (especially the Mets ) , against a team that has advanced very fast and feels comfortable on the counterattack , must give priority to a strong midfield ahead of the defense. c ) Have not seen that players like SC , JW or Ozil , need freedom of movement and not spoiling each other ; MA08 which has no ” life ” to play alone in front of the defense , which requires a player Sagna , TW Gnaby or you can make the right hallway and have recovery time to close the right-back , and above all, the team is tired , loses all individual duels in midfield , is not all muscle energy and plays in effort.
Although Arsenal continue to depend solely on you, the joy, the physical availability, reliability and pace of play, compared to eg chelsea, is abysmal.
Finally, and not dwell, do not understand with a coach after the 1st goal or at most after the 2nd goal, do not jump off the bench and give a yell for the field. It was necessary to get to 5-0, with the game lost long ago to make a substitution and show displeasure with the display and some players who should be earning more. (Again: Podolski has to play with another striker and tilts down to the left side … it’s hard to see this?)
it’s no rocket science indeed,
the whole football world knows we needed a proper striker and a defensive midfielder for god knows how long,,
square pegs in round holes rarely works and should never be the norm..
Wenger has passed it and it’s almost impossible for him to change..
even his hard core loyal supporters deep down know that..
wenger ran down Ramsey because he failed to rotate his squad..
he doesn’t rotate the squad enough because he doesn’t trust them..
he doesn’t trust them because they are not good enough
why bendtner and park still at arsenal??
Diaby?
Not to mention the despicable injury record of the club and the medical staff..
He doesn’t seem capable to motivate his players anymore.
why he plays the same tactics(if he has any) in every game, though it’s obvious they don’t work in so called big games?
why big players with so much talent fail miserably under his management lately??
why not enough players make it to the first team?
still we travel millions miles away and brig special talents Campbell and miachi,,,where are they?
He might not have had enough funds in the past 8 years but he definitely wasted a lot of dosh paying ridiculous wages for average and shite players..
Finally he had the money the this season the club kept bragging, and he does fuck all….
signing an injured player who is going to be out for six weeks or more and actually trying to justify it ..is just taking the piss..
negligence and incompetence of the highest order…
Ozil is waste of money if you don’t bring the right players to support his talent,,
Missing on great signings because he won’t pay the extra pound has cost us more money paying the flops..
it’s obvious this idealism doesn’t work in todays football ..
Arsene , the club is not your dream project.. you should do the right thing and move on ..and take the useless board and scouts with you..
all of course IMHO..
.
Glad the wiser heads managed to get HH back to its as per usual venerate level…
Bad day in the office for the boys… wednesday can’t come quick enough… its not the end of the world…
come on Gunners…
Rico, have you seen the photo of AW being helped up by a police officer after his fall?
Hope he is ok….
emma, from what AW said to the media, I think they will all be in for a right dressing down, including the manager….
Good points JM…
If the club have any morals they will refund the away fans fees today for the game…
sahvi – or maybe just get his ideas changed from game to game and to suit who we face. That would be the best change right now bearing in mind he’s staying..
I made a comment a few days ago about signing a new attacking coach, Fergie did it for years and that’s why he won so many trophies…
Ts, I haven’t seen that. Didn’t even know he’d taken a tumble.
Was it in the box?? 😉
There are certainly many apologies from the manager and players for the performance so there might be a refund…
ha ha Rico… at least we could have gotten a penalty in the box…
https://twitter.com/101greatgoals/status/432226983594819584/photo/1
Not really funny btw…
At least shitty dropped points against Norwich and 120M points worth of striker talents could not score…
Makes you wonder if Gervinho has a point??
“The fundamental difference between Roma and Arsenal is the coaching.
“My coach here, Rudi Garcia, gives me confidence, because I know he believes in me. When I wake up in the morning, I like coming to work, I look forward to being with these people.
“What did I learn at Arsenal? Honestly, not much because you cannot learn much from being on the bench.
“I left England because I was not playing. Not enough. The most difficult moment was being on the bench. That was the worst part for me and my confidence.”
That looks nasty. Hope he’s ok….
Gervinho may have a point but on the other hand he flopped his lines more than once so…
AW said on TV he was the best striker in the concaf… what more did he expect though..
The issue I believe was not due to lack of chances but maybe being signed when we had lost both Cesc and NAsri… fans never accepted him…
Moreover he was not strong mentally to take the abuse from the fans and prove them wrong…
At the moment he looks a better player than HAzard but that is just my view so…
Whenever Arsenal is losing all decency, respect and adult communications go out of the window.
Oh I know Ts, but… And there is a huge difference between the PL and where he is right now…
Ng, 3 strikes and they are out though as Gdna knows right now…
Yes, we are all angry frustrated etc etc and will rant a rave, but I draw the line at some stage…
emma – 6.08 😛
Serie A is slower so it helps Yao Gerv,,,
I do not think this league is a s technically good as the likes of Owen make it out to be though..
You have a point Ng…
Michael Owen knows sweet FA imho…
I’m upset, can’t eat, can’t even take a nap. But AW has done more for this club than I would dream of doing, but if I had my way right now I would ask SK to fire him because of what he did to the TW.
He’ll never be sacked imho Ng…
But something has to change and right now the only one who can is him. He needs to listen to someone else and stop being so bloody stubborn….
That’s me done for the day folks…
Night all…
it’s high time Wenger balls up and start benching ozil in the big games and let Rosicky do what he does best. He looks ok against d midtable/relegation teams. I wouldn’t start ozil v manure if i was Wenger
Making Ozil the scapegoat is wrong imho…
Anyway, gone now….
Morning all.
So lovely to see the Wenger haters have ammo, and they are never shy to blast away with it.
First goal was most definitely offside…..there was a choice of two or three, to be honest.
That just set us on the back foot, and Liverpool jumped us from there.
For the last few years i have said two things stand put when we play badly.
One is movement off the ball….when we play well, we always have players in motion, allowing quick ball movement, and we are hard to defend against.
Last night, there was none.
Players were static, and in general, we looked a lethargic unit.
Secondly, opponents run straight theough the middle of us.
V Liverpool, this was definitely the case.
You could have driven a convoy of trucks straight down the guts of our midfield.
I think Wenger left it too long to make changes, but at the same time, 4-0 after 18 minutes hardly gives you time to react, does it.
We can all whine about transfer windows, but that is a farce.
Messi and Ronaldo playing would not have stopped the 5 goals, so give it a rest.
We had 11 players out there who were not there at all.
Wengers fault??
Come on.
Top of the League and away at Andield…..if a player can not get up for that match, then he needs to only look in one pace for the answer, and that place is the mirror.
Still, we all know what happens after a loss, the same old crap gets regurgitated.
It is boring, but expected.
Dna, your 2.03 pm shows your class, or lack of it.
What a disgraceful human being you are.
Out all day watching my son in a TT tournament. What an embarrassment. Those class players we all wanted never came and the lift to the players of a new signings clearly absent. Hoping what we have can pick themselves up quickly.
Had a fabulous steak and frites in Cafe Rouge this evening…
Oz, I know it’s February mate, and there are 13 games left in this present campaign…
Today was a disaster, sparked off by a cowardly linesman who failed to do his job for Liverpool’s first goal…
If that had been disallowed, as it should have, then the result may have been different…
As it is, we have to deal with the result.
ManCity have dropped 5 points in their last two games.
Chelsea dropped 2 points at home recently…
There are a lot of twists and turns in this season to go…
We all know that Wenger failed in the recent transfer window Oz.
But even if he’d signed 2 or 3 new players, we might have still lost at Anfield…
I’m hoping that today’s (yesterday’s) defeat, will act as the same kind if catalyst as last seasons defeat at Slum Hart Lane…
We shall see this Wednesday…
Wenger maybe has to change the teams preparations for 12.45 kick-offs as the team don’t seem as switched-on as they should be for these games…
Now is not the time for dithering or being stubborn, now is the time for everyone, both staff & players, to look in the mirror and sort it out…
I still think that, overall, that this season has, up till now, been a success.
Cast your minds back six months, to last August, after that confidence sapping home defeat by Aston Villa.
If someone had told you that six months later, Arsenal would be 2nd, one point behind the leaders and ahead of Moneybags City, I’m sure you/we would have said “yeah, I’ll have some of that”…..
There are still 39 points to play for…
It’s gonna be difficult, but it ain’t over yet
Night All
Totally agree Kev – the most important thing of all is results and while today was a bad one, overall we are doing well
Well said Kev.
We either collapse like a priceless balloon, or we stand up to be counted.
Pricked balloon.
Stupid bloody phone!!!!
Morning Scott,
When does it become Wenger’s responsibility? Did the team themselves decide to press up the pitch from kick off? Surely not, how do they decide that? Sangna found in their third of the pitch with merts chasing Sterling to the corner flag. Never mind the offside, what if this play Merts wasn’t able to stretch a leg and Sterling was clean through?
Every other game we hold in the first half to test out the opposition but not this one, we pushed and got punished.
Zonal marking screws us up when the ball is played deeper than the line for the second.
Still we don’t consolidate and start the rythum, we sprint head on at them and commit players forward and leave gaps just in front of the defence. Easy break away for Coutinho and Sturidge, 3 passes in that move.
Fourth was all Ozil’s weak attempt at getting a foul where he should’ve taken a yellow for the team. Arteta knows when to do that.
Only after that did we try keep tight and get our rythum.
Hi
Bradster, I do not discount Wenger from responsibility at all, but the distinct lack of effort and intensity from most players is not his fault, it is theirs.
How does a manager respond to 4 goals in such quick succession?
Even making changes to formations and even on field personnel would have made no difference at that time because I guys were simply not putting in.
We made a decent side look like true contenders because we had no urgency at all.
We have had two terrible pwrfoancea this season….Yanited and this one.
We have a chance in the next week to respond to both.
You know what made things worse?
I drive for 90 minutes to watch that disgraceful (lack of) effort, cop it from all these Scouser supporting mates I never knew I had, put up with the influx of Wenger out brigade jumping up and down……all of which I can handle.
Why was worse is reading a Highbury House regular posting that he hopes all AKB’s go to sleep and never wake up.
2.03 pm.
I am not taking a shot at anyone to so with the running is this page as looking back, the posts were coming thick and fast, and I know how it would have been handled if seen, but this is possibly the most despicable thing I have seen I the internet by any “Gooner”.
Yes, that was much worse.
My opinion is that we have too many players that think it’s not my job to tackle and win the ball. I’m the creator in the team.
The not taking responsibility if I lose the ball, someone further back will win it for us.
Liverpool players bust a gut to get to the player and put a tackle in or put pressure.
Totally agree there Scott, what other games are there to get these guys motivated themselves.
Well said, Bradster.
Too much style, not enough substance.
We missed Flamini and Ramsey.
One though no fault of his own, the other through stupidity.
Wenger was right suggesting we needed a Midfielder on January, and should have done a hell of a lot better in finding one.
Where’s the diffeence between Flanigan’s studs up challenge and Flamini’s? No consistancy at all.
Mmmm.
Happens too often to be coincidence.
Scary part is how our duds are starting to look good. Gerv and Chamachkh in particular.
Gerv..he had his chances and simply could not produce.
I always said Chamalh was a very good striker left in the lurch when RVP came back, and most Gooners forget how good he was for us til then.
I agree with the people that say we need a coach with new ideas. Fergie knew how to be a manager and delegate to his staff. Wenger wants to do it all himself.
I wonder if laudrup or AVB would mind being Wenger’s number 2.
Bradster, Fergie used to bring in a new coach every few years…we could use that.
Wenger has too much power because those above him are happy earning the dollars……
If only they’d take control, they could see their share price rise AND get success on the pitch.
Morning disgruntled Arsenal supporters,
After a restless night and looking at the situation of a 5.1 loss away at Anfield, clears the head a little. Yes we can pick on the Manager we can pick on the players and we can say that tactics is not our strong side. We can talk about transfer windows and who should have been appointed, but at the end of the day a bad performance on the day can happen to any side. Supporters who think that the players were sent out yesterday with no game plan need their head examined. Wenger would have instilled what he wanted them to do he would have instructed certain players in how to stop Luis Suarez fro getting a supply of the ball. Wenger knew how dangerous Suarez is as he tried for all his worth to recruit him. In actual fact Suarez was not on the score sheet he should have been but he wasn’t. Sturrage and Sterling ran amock with direct attacking and clever play mixed with Suarez who is quality, showed our defence was always going to suffer. We can argue all day long on who was not where and who should have done what, but the Liverpool boys had a great day out, they no more expected that result than we did it just happened. Our team much the same as all of us would have been absolutely gutted. Players even went straight onto facebook and Twitter to appologise to the supporter, they say they were embarressed, yes i can see why but i would also say i felt embarressment for how the fans left in their droves way before the end of the match they also should have gone on websites to appologise.
Supporters have seen Arsenal at the top of the league best part of the season and i susspect they saw a win in their minds eye yesterday, they feel annoyed and let down they feel shame and they vent their anger at anybody who is attached to Arsenal. Get a grip of yourselves, yes it was a bad result, yes it knocked us off the top but it was only a game of football. Liverpool had a very good day they outplayed us and they humiliated us but they did play well and deserved everything they got. We on the other hand lost our dignty, we felt shame we looked inept and we walked out of Liverpool with our tails between our legs. We are still in with a chance other teams will also drop points and we are only 1 point of the lead, we have big games in days time and we have to get back on track. Yes mistakes were made but we can work on them and we can try and resolve what went wrong. Liverpool beat us on the day but we can reverse that result next week, maybe not the points but to knock them out of the cup would make them and us feel better. At the end of the day one result does not waver a lifetimes support of the mighty Arsenal wipe our noses and get back in the race, after all not every battle wins a war so now we dig in COYRRG’s
Morning all..
Scott, I take some responsibility re the gutter comments. I wasn’t home and once I got back I didn’t read back on the day’s comments, in fact I didn’t see that 2.03 one until I just read your comment.
He was binned yesterday afternoon so that won’t happen again…
Sorry it went on for so long, I was too angry with Arsene Wenger and the players to even bother checking back….
Rico, i apologise if you thought i was having a go at you…i wasn’t.
The action was full on so no way you can be expectedto keep up.
I was disgusted and mortified.
Anyway, onwards and upwards because we can not be much lower than right now.
Smile….what else can we do 🙂
Steve, you’re an enigma mate, and i honestly mean that in the best way.
That was a great post.
Damn, we got pur backsides smacked.
I had mates who had driven 5-10 minutes to watch the game, and leave at half time.
I have never done that in my life, and never will.
We still had some players out there busing their arse, and they deserved every bit of support i could offer, even through a TV screen a few thousand k’s away.
When the going gets tough……….
Well let’s hope for change. This bunch have been poor for a few games we’ve just been lucky no one could finish…until now.
Perhaps Ozil needs a break, play Monreal in front of Gibbs, Cazorla right and let Ox have a go at box to box again.
Rooney is our nemesis and needs to be contained.
Scott, I didn’t honest. I know who were referring to and he’s now gone…
Morning Scott, We have supporters everywhere supporters like yourself that drive an hour to watch the game on a screen in the middle of the night has my admiration. Yes it was a humbling performance but surly our next game will be better. I have been an Arsenal supporter all my life and this is not the first time i have felt humiliated. But i know Wenger will not take this defeat laying down. A few players would have had their wrist slapped but Wenger will vent his anger behind closed doors, the players will be left with what he expects of them, they will not be allowed to dwell on this loss he will be at them, he will tell them what he wants and they better take it in.
According to twitter sanogo & BFG had a fight in training resulting in the German getting a black eye and Giroud was up to no good in his hotel room hours before the Liverpool game
That leaves us super Nicky B……
That’s a shocker Lee..
Lee, those rumours popped up today.
Official word is Merts collided with Szczesnys elbow, but who knows?
Rico, i am glad.
Steve, maybe, and i might be clutching straws here, but it could be what Wenger needed to get some fire back in his belly.
I must say, it is the first time i have felt embarrassed being a Gooner.
The reason?
Well, it is the first time i reckon i have genuinely seen guys not putting in a shift.
Morning Rico and all. It was and remains a very painful day but it is what happens on Wednesday night that is important now. I happen to believe that Wenger shares the responsibility for yesterday with the players. It wasn’t a series of unforeseen events that laid the path to Anfield. It was writ large over the past several games. Before that even. Once we let our love for the club cloud our judgement we will be lost in fantasy land.
We have become a one half team, unable to string potent football together for 90 minutes. We have won games that we quite easily could have drawn, many times. We have had a problem brewing with Ozil for a couple of months now but when I mentioned it I was told that 3 points are all that matters and the we are/ were top of the league. We have no width and use only about one half of the Emirates pitch when I watch the team at home. We do not have a really dominant CM and our striking options, for the top team we want to be, are quite frankly woeful.
The pattern of the home games are predictable when Ozil should be killing teams by opening them up with his quick thought and intelligence. He doesn’t and can’t because we have no pace or movement up front. From where I sit it is so clear I could scream every bloody game. The man could turn defence into attack very quickly. He could make the difference. But he doesn’t because Wenger has him stuck out wide with no ball to play except a meek, tame, square one. I believe that the last two transfer windows have been truly disastrous for Arsenal and there is only one architect of that. The team is stagnating, has been for a while and Ozil is completely wasted at the moment.
Adam, lets be honest, calling them transfer winsowsis being kind…they were non events.
Wenge needs to kick some backsides, and that is his responsibility.
I can not believe how many of our guys were not up for the contest.
A performance mirroring that v Yanited and we could slide oit of the Top 4.
Damn, i am being negative today.
Someone slap me.
Transfer windows is being kind, that should read.
Morning Adam.
A very sensible and spot on comment…
Adam, set me straight here, but on TV it looked as though we were too wide in defence, because they ran at us in numbers straight through our middle.
Too narrow in attack, yet wide in defence….is that fair?
It seemed you could drive a few trucks through our midfield.
So many players walking, and losing the ball but stopping.
Scott. As I said yesterday, in today’s high-end football, if you are not moving forward, which we aren’t, then you’re going backwards.
The slide can be halted but, once lost, confidence is hard to get back.
The bigger picture though for me, is absolutely Wenger’s immediate future and that means Arsenal’s future. Every season brings crossroads moments. This is one.
Yep, we MUST come out and dominate Yanited.
Even a 1-0 win, but with a dominant perofrmance, and we might be back in business.
Under the circumstances, and conaidering they are a fairly average side, anything less will kill us, and i hate saying that.
I’ve put the new post up now…
Scott. I didn’t see the game and obviously didn’t watch it on TV last night. I am not surprised by the result. Hurt but not surprised.
