We’ve seen AMN flirt with England, Ben White too with Aaron Ramsdale called in for the Euros back in the summer but only because of injury. He wasn’t ours then but he is now and this time, he’s been selected by Gareth Southgate on merit. Because he’s been excellent for Arsenal. Both Ben White and AMN miss out this time but I don’t think it’ll be too long before at least one of them is back in international action. Bukayo Saka has been called up for England, of course he has and I’m not sure how long Southgate will be able to resist promoting Emile Smith Rowe to the senior team.
Arsenal having players representing England is great news in my opinion.
Arsenal go to The Amex Stadium tomorrow to face Brighton. A team we thumped last time around. They ripped us off for Ben White and reinvested. They’re doing well.
Can Arsenal beat them? Why not?
The Seagulls have made a really impressive start to the season, but Arsenal are on a bit of a roll at the moment. Mark Lawrenson told BBC Sport, as he predicted a 2-0 win for the visitors. That run won’t last for too long – not a lot has changed about the Gunners, really, because I still think they will go on streaks of good or bad results just like last season – but they will be smiling on Saturday evening anyway.
Of course blokes like Lawrenson, Souness, Lineker etc etc want Arsenal to lose because they’re bitter and twisted old has beens with an agenda. They have to try an justify their existence in their job and what better way than to have a downer on Arsenal. It’s likely that Mikel Arteta’s team will lose a match soon, maybe even tomorrow but that’s the nature of the game. What Arsenal don’t need is stupid predictions from people who haven’t a clue about what goes on inside the club or know what Mikel Arteta is trying to build. In the words of Kevin Keegan, I’d love it if Arsenal went to Anfield in a few weeks time and beat them. Love it!
But you know what, these pundits, media or whatever they call themselves can carry on because they can help push Arsenal on. I can remember Fergie using Arsene Wenger’s comments about Utd to push his team to the treble the year after Arsene won his first double. The more the Frenchman said about fixtures, Utd, their players, the more the Utd fire was stoked.
Sensible people will know that Arsenal are far from perfect, they’ll know that Mikel Arteta still has a huge job on his hands to get the club back into Europe but he’s building a team/squad for the future whilst clearing out those who don’t fit into his plans.
If you look around at what Klopp, Guardiola, OGS and Tuchel have done, remember how much money they had to do it. Arteta hasn’t had that luxury so it’s taken him longer to build his own team. If the players Arsenal brought in this summer are a sign of what’s to come then I think we can compete with the clubs like Liverpool, Chelsea, Utd and City in the future.
As for Lawrenson saying not a lot has changed at Arsenal, I think he needs to look a bit closer…
See you in the comments.
