Arsene makes early move for new striker? Rosicky new deal & Flamini explains Ozil words…

Morning all.

Everyone is very happy to have him here because he’s such a talented player and I don’t understand why people are hard on him.

Couldn’t put it better myself Mr Flamini.

I really don’t get why Mesut Ozil is being given such a hard time. Yes it’s frustrating when he’s not laying on goal scoring opportunities or scoring for himself but wouldn’t it be fair to say that he’s not been alone in that department?

Just because he has a £42 million price tag on his head, it doesn’t mean he is not human and come on, the Premier League is far from La Liga where the referees allow little, or no contact. Not only that, but he’s used to having pacey players moving off of and around him and that’s something we don’t have much of right now and of course, his body is used to having a winter break.

And don’t always fall for the ‘player rift’ storyline either, we all know the press like to be negative:

When you’re a journalist or you’re a fan seeing it from the outside, it’s difficult to interpret it. But Mesut is one of my closest team-mates and we were on the pitch.

It was not about arguing it was just about communication. Mesut is a winner, I’m a winner; we were both fighting because we just wanted to give everything to the team to make sure we defended properly.

It was about communication, but at the end of the day it proves to everyone that we really wanted to win and we’re winners. It’s important, as you want a team with character, not a team who doesn’t react.

That was said after the two players had crossed words during the Bayern Munich game and of course the press have made a big deal about it but as Flamini says, it’s all because he cares.

We were all thrilled when he signed and there’s a reason for that. That reason is because Mesut Ozil is a world class player and one day very soon, his critics will be silenced…

One player who has silenced his critics is Tomas Rosicky. He’s been really good this season and when he starts, we look that little bit quicker going forward and a little bit more complete. Well he’s set to be rewarded with a new contract.

Arsene Wenger:

Tomas Rosicky will stay. We have an agreement with him and it will come out soon. I am absolutely adamant he has to stay at the club.

I think he is one of the players who plays the game of give and move. He is a great accelerator of the game. When the ball comes to him it goes into second gear and that is something I admire in him.

That’s good news, now we just need to get Bacary Sagna tied down to a new deal too.

The latest transfer gossip, The Metro  report that we have already been in touch with Standard Liege asking them to name their price for striker Michy Batshuayi. £10 million is reported to be the players value.

I can’t see this having a scrap of truth as since when do we tell a club to name their price?

That’s your lot for another day….

  1. morning Rico very good read…..I stopped minding the press a long time ago…..im tired of the ozil talk so I will just comment in tomaz I think he really deserves his contract as he is a hard working and a loyal servant to the club……we need his experience as well….I really hope we also sign up bac…..It will be a bad decision if we don’t sign him up imo

  2. Morning everyone.
    Batshuayi stats:
Jupiler Pro League: 26 games, 17 goals and 3 assists
Europa League Qualifiers: 4 games, 1 goal, 2 assists
Europa League: 6 games, 1 goal and 1 assist

20 years of age, 6ft in height

If bought, one for the future?

  3. and a very big Lol to spurs losing yesterday ………they really are a clueless bunch

  4. morning adk,do we really need him????? I would like a more established WC striker…..we have sanogo as well as afobe and akpom(whom I think deserves a chance) as our “ones for the future”

  5. Morning snaparse, Adk and all..

I hope the plan is to sign a striker for the here and now come the summer, not one for the future.

I’d forgive the club if they signed both ;)

  6. Nice post, Rico.
Has Arsene been reading my posts on TR7 though?
Either that or i read his :)
    Morning all.

  7. Morning Scott, thanks..

Maybe a bit of both ;)

  8. Nah Rico, he must have had an off day, agreeing with me.

  9. I liked this from Twitter on Saturday..

“I hate it when people compare Dennis Bergkamp to God, I mean he’s great and all that but he’s no Dennis Bergkamp!!”

    Morning all….

  10. Morning all, Nice one Rico.
Mesut Ozil getting a rough ride from the press, he’s an Arsenal player tell me something new. We all watched the Bayern game and we saw the shouting and finger waving, we have to be true to ourselves and appreciate that Ozil was getting a bollocking, comunication call it what you want but a missed bad penalty followed by a lazy body languidge, and of course having a bad day makes people (comunicate) or get the hump. Wenger gave Ozil a break the weekend, i imagine that Wenger felt that Mesut should sit and watch and workout why his team mates have the hump with him, after all Wenger has a degree in psycology. Mesut ozil is a quality player and i have no doubts that in the future he will show his worth. I must admit that i hadn’t seen a great deal of him before he joined but i know that other leagues do things differently than the Premier. He’ll fall inline and realise that when all around you are busting a gut , you also are expected to get stuck in. Players at the Arsenal right now could not have expected to be in the position they are but for many who have not had to much success of late can now see a light at the end of the tunnel, the fight Arsenal have shown is comendable, they know they are not the best team, but they realise that they stand a good chance. ten or so games to go and with every player giving his all could return a trophy. I expect every player to expect his team mates to give their all, i also expect to see more bollockings should they not.

  11. Whoever we are losing at the end of the season and it could be 4 or 5 players they will need to be replaced and this is not the time for gambling . We will have limited funds, they may be more than we are used to but they will not all be £25 million plus, We need to look at where we will be short and concentrate our spending to fill those parts first. Should Fabianski go ,and he probably will ,we are seriously short in goal. Sagna and Vermaelen might be off giving back 4 cover needed. Midfield we are .o.k. in numbers but do we still need a defensive player and a specialist winger ? and upfront we have Giroud and Sanogo . I f you accept that Giroud was bought as back up for a top striker , has he done enough to be our front man for another campaign ? and if he is out , can Sanogo , Akpom etc fill the gap ? We have gambled before , we have players on loan all over the globe some of whom will never make it others will never get a permit and those that we have had waiting for one have got content playing first team football and formed a bond with their existing clubs and no longer wish to play for us. I.E Vela , Campbell .Wellington Silva A lot of this close season coming up is going to depend on the actions of Wenger and his back up team and personally I can see Wenger commentating the world cup and I have little faith in Gazidis , Fox and Law. It’s worrying we are so close this year and we don’t want to slip back again.

  12. Fancy getting some winter sun? Apparently the Canaries are hard to beat this time of year!

  13. We can agree on that snaparse. But, is Afobe that good? He was supposed to be the second coming a few years back.. They can be our future stars, but we need a world class striker they can learn from..

  14. Mesut Ozils Transfer fee, a record for the Arsenal is not to be confused with how Arsenal is going to conduct future purchases, Personally i would have liked that money to had been spent on a striker, but Wenger’s mind works different to mine. Sanogo i would exspect should get maybe half a dozen more games if Giroud stays fit. he will get better and when he finally scores will probably be the making of him, Rico’s right he does show the right kind of attitude but Potter is also right that some will move on and replacing them will be paramount. £42.5 mill was for us the fans, more than for Arsenal in my mind, Quieting the thousands who spend vast amounts on tickets is where Arsenal get a big percentage of their income and i think it worked quite well, but we will have to buy again. Rosiski will no doubt get another year, and if Sagna accepts the same kind of deal which i don’t think he will. will be two remaining. Vermaelen will not sit on the touchline much longer his prime years are now and he wants football. Fabianski is a keeper i feel should be tied down, i consider him as good as Czez and if i had my way would get many more starts and that is the key to keeping him, Not too much money needs to be spent but players will need to know if they will get games or not before they decide. if they go i can only see cheap players coming in as they will only be used as cover so forget more 42.5 mill signings.

  15. Sorry, phone rang.

And who said women could talk eh ….

  16. Agree Potter, no gambling this summer, we have had enough of that..

It’s starting to look like AW will have to do in the summer what went wrong for AVB….

    Lee :)

  17. Ah, another ‘World Exclusive’ by that organ of integrity and investigative journalism, Metro…
Best torn into strips, with a piece of string put thru it, and hung in the toilet, where it can caress your bum following a No.2….

Boring Boring Chelsea… As per usual…

  18. Morning All.
Morning Rico, nice piece of journalism by yourself, M’dam.

    Ozil is quality, simples…

  19. Rico, what’s the fitness situation re: Ramsey and Adams’ fav, Kallstrom…?

  20. Morning Kev, thank you sir…

Coleman reckons 2/3 weeks for Wales…

  21. Just checking our fixtures, is there an international friendly midweek but without a league break??

  22. Afternoon all.
Article about Michy Batshuayi in World Soccer magazine. Seems he is an unpredictable talent on and off the field!
Did anyone else watch the full game on Sky Saturday night? Tony Gale – talk about a broken record! he did not shut up saying how easy Sunderland made it. In the end I turned it off. He is in the Andy Townsend class when it comes to Arsenal hating. Even match of the day is fair by comparison!

  23. Hi Bj.

We don’t need a player like him then…

Didn’t see the full game but have heard Tony Gale reporting on us before. He’s awful.

  24. Good read Rico…

Pleased to hear TR07 is staying…

I am with Potter re. upcoming transfer window… fans will again blame Aw for not doing deals before going to commentate but will then also say he has too much power and so he should delegate to IG and Fox and co…

  25. van Gaal on his future after World Cup: “Normally I’d to Portugal with my pension. But maybe Tottenham are coming.

  26. It won’t be good if Van Gaal joins the sperds… another manager with a philosophy Aw won’t be able to beat…

  27. Thanks Ts.. Me too re Tomas..

What date does the WC kick off?

  28. Hi Rico. I think the WC starts on the same day Arsenal enter the transfer market.

  29. Hi Adam.

    31st August then…

  30. I think so Rico. But it’s always hard to sign players in WC year.

  31. :) Adam…

I think this year we’ll need to make sure we do…

  32. Agreed. :)
Just off to sweep the lawn and polish the car. :)

  33. Have you bought them yet?? ;)

  34. Off for a couple of hours…..

  35. Briefly glanced at what has been reported about the anti-Ramsey comments in a Stoke fanzine….

That’s right, a ‘Stoke’ fanzine, with a readership no doubt, in the region of a couple of hundred…

Ha ha ha, so fcuking what?
    Is that really news…?!!!

How bloody desperate are some of these useless newspapers, when trying to create a furore out of bugger-all…?

Who cares what some numbskull from the potty Potteries think of Aaron Ramsey…

God save us from the British Press, bunch of tossers!

  36. Good Afternoon Lady, Sir, Gentlemen and Ladies.

Has anyone here, except Scott that is, thrown a boomerang???

Because Piers Morgan has managed to throw one and it rebounded on him.

His show has just been axed by the CNN. He has been campaigning for AW to be thrown out for the past 5 years or so. So a bit of Schadenfreude for one of the biggest mouths in fandom.

    Next in line????

    Steve Palmer maybe?

  37. Hi Lee. I am a bit under the weather today mate. Just feel a bit spaced out. Are you well?

  38. Afternoon Rico and the House.
Another nice post Rico and as others have said the press are a load of tossers. I have nothing but contempt for the all of them.
Its great news about Mozart and I hope to see him finish his career with us.
Looking at our fixture list we play Stoke next week and the next
league game is the spuds on 16th March. On thurs Ramsey tweeted just finished training working hard to be back ASP.
Looks like he will be there on the 16th.
Rico ref the post I will see what I can think up it may take I little time.

  39. Should be take a little time

  40. Oooopppppppppsssssssssssss.

just noticed my mistake. Should have said Myles Palmer not Sir SP

  41. My HH inside source tells me Flamini only barks out orders because he likes the sound of his own voice, nothing to do with passion !

    Stop digging devil.

  42. Afternoon Rick, Adam, Micko, Devil and all..

Rick, thanks and you take as long as you need, just as long as you get there in the end. ;)

  43. Micko, tomatoes are very unreliable….

  44. Only the plums rico.

  45. You saying we are a bunch of plums Micko?? ;)

  46. Awkward, I feel like you’ve put me on a surf board and I’m trying my best not to fall off !

  47. Doorbell just rang, and there was my nice brand spanking new laptop delivered..

    Happy Days :P

  48. :) Micko, surely not…..

  49. Dinner for me, laters…

  50. Bloomin heck, my new laptop is far too advanced for me.

Can’t even work out how to connect to the internet :(

  51. trust a Lady to be able to work her way out of connecting to the internet.

you could not have made it all up. ;)

  52. Oi Oi Devil, spot on ;)

  53. acc to sources close to Sagna the player wants 24 million in total between wages and signing on fee over 4 years.

    He is good yes.

    But for me………????

    Sod off.

24 million will get us a new player who is good, young and has a sale on value. Plus he can become better.

  54. Rico, if its windows 8, download windows 8+1 it gives you a start menu took me ages to find out but helped me navigate a little easier

  55. £24 million Devil????

  56. 115Kpw for 4 years + 6 million signing on fee.

  57. That makes it close to 30 million

  58. Thanks Sp, the guy said if windows 8 is pants he’d downgrade to windows 7..

I can’t even get onto the internet :(

  59. Janmaat and Corchia will cost around 10 million each, both are under 23 years and are good. And neither will demand 115Kpw

for that money I would get one of the Bender twins who can play RB and even he would not demand 115Kpw.

  60. I wouldn’t give him that deal Devil, not at his age….

  61. I think we’ll get a bender or two this summer…

We missed out on the De Boer twins, maybe we should sign both Benders to make up for it….

  62. Bacary Sagna on £60 grand a week and Walcott on !00 Ozil on over a 100 Giroud on !00 who works for 90 minutes and often on his own certainly worth more that ^) grand when you look at the others, but he has said himself he is slowing down, a 4 year deal is pie in the sky.

  63. Key probs Sp? ;)

  64. I would not even offer him that on Soccer Manager let alone in real life.

For me he can sod off.

I can get why AW wants to give him a 2 year deal.

Bellerin would be ready by then.

  65. Yeh still struggling Rico :)

  66. Is Bellerin that good??

  67. Thanks re the internet advice Sp…

  68. I’m off now for the day guys. Need to try and work out how the new beast works.

    Catch up tomorrow,…

    Night all…

  69. No probs Rico 8.1 even i worked that out so it may help Night Rico

  70. Night Sp….

    Gone now…

  71. Rico ,He will be in 2 years.

  72. Morning all.

  73. Hi Scott , we get a look at Joel Campbell tonight against Manyoo , should tell us a bit about our transfers in the summer.

  74. Absolutely, Potter.
If he can show himself to be competitive against them, it stands him in good stead for the future….and Arsenal, of course :)

  75. Thanks Rick, wonder where his position will be though, right back or will AW do Pep has done with Lahm as Bellerin can play both positions..

    Morning all..

  76. Re Campbell, reports in the press suggest that both clubs are in talks to make his loan deal permanent…

Not sure I can suffer watching the Mancs just to see Campbell play… ;)

  77. Rico, lets hope he smashes Chelski amd changes some minds then.

  78. How about Man Utd Scott ;)

  79. Been a long day lol

  80. Beats Eastenders and Casualty though Rico. Looks like I will be on the lap top whilst the wife has the telly.

  81. :) Scott.

No Casualty tonight Potter, but sure beats Eastenders… lol

I might watch on a stream, I can use my old laptop and not worry about about it now….

  82. No casualty tonight , oh well guess Stoke aren’t playing then.

  83. Ha ha, I really detest Stoke….

    New post up now….
