Remember the line from the cooking advert?
“Give em a lift,…ahah, with Cookeen”
Well it seems that signing Mesut Ozil has not only raised the hearts of all Arsenal fans, the players are thrilled too.
“He is a great addition and I am personally looking forward to playing with him. I think it definitely shows a statement that we are ready to step up and Ozil is going to be fantastic for me personally.
“With the amount of the assists he has got, it’s a dream for me to see, so I am very excited to see him in the flesh and play with him. I am sure all the Arsenal fans will be looking forward to the Sunderland game.”
“AHA! Welcome as a new Gunner Bro! So happy that Mesut is joining AFC and we can play together in the…
Not quite sure what the rest of that message was, I’m sure it was football related though.
Welcome, such an amazing player.
Fantastic player, plays the ‘Arsenal way’.
Welcome to Arsenal, great signing for us.
Just arrived in Paris and heard this morning Ozil new sign. Welcome to the Gunners family Mesut.
There are more but keep copying/pasting gets boring after a while……
But not everyone is pleased though, team mate and good friend Ramos:
It’s obvious that he is a special team-mate and friend. I’ve always had a real friendship with him, and it’s a shame. He’s a great footballer, unique.
Everyone is free to choose the best for themselves, but if I were to decide what was happening at Madrid he would be one of the last who would be going.
Forgetting the comments of Ramos, every player at Arsenal is absolutely thrilled to bits with our huge summer signing, it’s given them a huge lift in both spirit and belief and Sunderland must be dreading playing us a week on Saturday.
Whereas, I bet each and every one player who wears red and white can’t wait to see their new team-mate and get the game started, just like us fans.
This could be the start of something very special at Arsenal, we have the big named player in the door, now others will surely want to follow. This signing is a huge statement made by Arsene Wenger and yes, I mean Arsene Wenger because not too long ago he said that he has the final say on transfers both in and out.
I knock him when he gets it wrong, but this signing is a big fat ‘right’.
Just look at what Mesut said after signing:
I am really looking forward to it because I have the faith of the coach. I had spoken to him at length on the telephone, he explained his plans and that he has faith in me – that is what I need as a player.
Wenger gives me the faith and I can develop further. I know what I can do and I know that I could make the grade with any club in the world because I am so convinced in myself, but if I don’t feel people have faith in me, then that is why I had to leave and at Arsenal, I feel I have this fully.
I am sure the new coach is going to develop me further and I am also really looking forward to playing in the Premier League.’
Fans can say what they want about Arsene Wenger but it sure seems like he has the right words for players when it matters. Manchester United, PSG and even Tottenham tried to gazzump this deal but the words from Arsene Wenger were enough, there was no going back for the German.
Mesut Ozil clearly believes in Arsene Wenger and although fans wanted him to sign more players, I certainly did but is this one big statement enough to make you start believing in him too?
Do you believe that signing top quality established players is the way he’s going to go from now on with the odd youth player here and there?
Finally, congratulations to Thomas Vermaelen and his wife who together have brought another little Gooner in to the world.
His name is Raff….
That’s it for another day…..
