And that’s not even us!
Poor old Luis Suarez:
Last year I had the opportunity to move to a big European club and I stayed on the understanding that if we failed to qualify for the Champions League the following season I’d be allowed to go.
I gave absolutely everything last season but it was not enough to give us a top-four finish – now all I want is for Liverpool to honour our agreement.
I don’t feel betrayed [by Liverpool] but the club promised me something a year ago just as I promised them that I would stay and try everything possible to get us into the Champions League.
They gave me their word a year ago and now I want them to honour that. And it is not just something verbal with the coach but something that is written in the contract. I’m not going to another club to hurt Liverpool.
Well, what to make of that?
How classy are Liverpool, not keeping their promise? Pff!
Suarez won’t feature in tonight’s friendly, he didn’t even travel with the rest of his team-mates having stubbed his toe so of course, speculation has gone into overdrive.
I strongly suspect the situation is quite different and he refused to travel, desperate for Liverpool to be left in no other position, other than to sell him.
I believe it’s already at that stage and now all that is left to decide, is where he will end up.
Both The Guardian and Daily Telegraph, who the player spoke to, report that Luis Suarez will be handing in a transfer request by the end of the week if he is not allowed to leave.
Interesting times ahead but we will get him?
The Daily Mail obviously think so, they are already battering him:
No way back for Suarez! Liverpool must wash their hands of a striker who appears desperate, petulant, ungrateful and selfish.
Funny though isn’t it, Luis Suarez wants a move to play Champions League football, to a club which will challenge for trophies and yes, that will be us if he and a couple of other top signings are made. We are a club which has competed at the top in years gone by and will do again IF Arsene Wenger/whoever gets this transfer and others done real soon.
Should we win our Champions League qualifier, we will be in the competition proper so right now, we are a better club than Liverpool and we are more likely to finish in the top four than they are.
This time last summer, all the newspapers were praising and understanding RvP’s decision to leave us in search of silverware at Manchester because that’s all the player wanted.
Suarez wants to join us for Champions League football so he says, so where’s the difference?
The Daily Mail really are fickle…….
Finally, LadyArse report that we maybe trying to sign Saint Etienne Defensive Midfielder Joshua Guilavogui who is 22 years old and French.
