Jovetic finally on his way? Bayern must not be a one off!

Morning all,

Bit of gossip before today’s post. Like the Isco story yesterday, the one today in papers linking us to Stevan Jovetic is no surprise. We have all heard his name linked to us before and if we are to believe what has been written, we have been watching the player develop for the last eighteen months.

For those who have never seen him, here he is.

I'm saying nothing.....

I’m saying nothing…..

This guy is valued around the £20 million mark, so he and Isco would set us back £50 million of our reported £70 million war chest available to the manager. We know though that IF that amount is there and ready to be spent, it could quite easily be increased if we get on and sell a few.

Valencia’s Adil Rami is another player linked. He’s a 6′ 3″ French central defender. I no nothing whatsoever about him other than he’s valued at £10 million…

Just a goalkeeper and a defensive/holding midfielder to go then..

Simples!

Onto today, a guest post:

When I was in high school, a mini-league competition was organized in my environment. Several teams were set up and we all auditioned to be a part of them. I was rejected on the account of being a Mertesacker and Squillaci rolled into one. This description hurt me at the time because I felt that I was a star and the coaches were dumb.

Together with other rejects, we applied to the authorities asking that they allow us  to float another team which they declined initially but later agreed when they saw the passion and determination on our faces.

Our coach told us that what we lacked in skill and talent we should make up for in attitude and work rate. We named our team ‘blue-gunners’ because we wanted to defend like Mourinho’s Chelsea and attack like Wenger’s Invincibles. By midway through the league we were tops by virtue of having a mean defence.

The other teams finally worked out that they couldn’t get past me so became the subject of brutal challenges, one of which led to a knee injury requiring surgery. I recovered well from it but have not been near the pitch ever since because of the trauma of that expirence.

We ended up finishing third and the team wound up because the other teams quickly snapped up our players that had been rejected in the first place.

I’ve written this because the mighty Arsenal are entering into a dicey period where they really need to win all their games to stand a chance of playing Champion’s League football next season.

We might not have a SAF as coach, the talent of Man City or Chelsea but we can do with having the right attitude and work rate as
a team.

The performance against Bayern must not be a one off.

The fan’s also have a role to play. The stadium was so quiet against Blackburn that I could hear on the television, one fan’s desperate attempt to start a chant. He was a one man choir.

The other fan’s suddenly found their voices to boo at full time.

Such must not be repeated at the Emirates again.

We may not have the money/desire to put an Arsenal shirt on Howard Webb or Mike Dean but we the fans can be the twelft man.

Let’s leave the moaning till May. Let’s set aside the Wenger, Bould, tactics and money debate.

For now it’s all about the team.

wow leave aside Wenger, Bould, tactics and money debate. uumm ok not leaving us much room there joywedsjeff :-)

  2. Adam says:

We could always talk about grouting.

  3. rico says:

    Morning all..

Good read Jeff and sorry to hear about that injury of yours…

I agree in relation to what some players lack in talent make up for in desire and passion, but take Jack and Jenks away, who else do we actually see play in such a way each game?

That for me is most of our problem, our lot never seem to look as if they are giving their all.

Had they had done so all season, we wouldn’t be in such a mess…

  4. rico says:

Not talking about what is going on just isn’t going to happen, and nor should it.

It’s real, it’s in front of us, and it’s in dire need of changing….

    Morning Adam and Oz..

  5. Adam says:

Morning Rico. Gervinho to start today? :)

  6. ozgunner10 says:

Jovetić – looks a lively lad a good solid 6 footer with a good hit rate for both club and country. 20m? A lot of money but then strikers cost more than anyone else anyway i guess – Lets hope for an applied effort today from minute one, come on lads

  7. rico says:

    I bloody hope not Adam..

  8. ozgunner10 says:

    Morning Adam, morning Rico

  9. rico says:

£20 million is cheap for a striker these days Oz, especially one of his age. We need to spend that kind of money and get that kind of player, if not better…

However, I suspect these stories are leaked to the newspapers just to keep a few fans wondering whether to renew their ST or not ;)

  10. Adam says:

Morning Oz. Is that bathroom finished yet?

  11. ozgunner10 says:

All done mate yep, just have to save the pennies for the bath we’re after but everything else is done. Second one to start next couple of weeks, oh joy haha

  12. ozgunner10 says:

Rico – you are so skeptical… oh and probably right of course :-)

  13. rico says:

 Oz, it’s probably PHW and what he gets paid, pays for his cigars…..

  14. herbert chapman 2 says:

The Bm must not be a one off. If the gunners can’t beat Swansea, forget about 4th. not even five hundred million will help the gunners regaisn the cl status, let alone challenge for the epl. In this case Wenger must pay the price for years of buying promising players.

  15. Bradster says:

    Morning all,
Good post Jeff. We see it everytime with Man U and ask ourselves how they seem to win those players in their team.
If the Swans were really that good, they’d be higher than 9th. Saw they concede the 14th most goals at home, same amount as Arsenal so let’s score against them like teams do against us at home.
Difference to Munich is Swansea plays with 2 strikers Moore with Michu behind him. Both are quick so Mert needs to be top of his game and read the danger signs. We need to win the midfield battle as we out number them with Michu playing higher up field.
Wouldn’t mind Ramsey stuck on Michu with Arteta more an attacking role and Mert to sweep.

  16. rico says:

HC2 – agree, with Everton and Liverpool just two points behind us, and then behind them is WBA – 4 points behind…

    We can’t drop any points…..

IF this lot want CL football, or even Europa football

  17. rico says:

Midfield for me too Brad, i didn’t think ours was that gutsy against Bayern, we need to win that battle to have a chance today.

Oh, and take any chances we get, and we should get one or two….

Williams will want a good game, if the link to him is serious…

  18. ozgunner10 says:

:-) Rico – Well its match day on the old HH and what will tonight bring, the people in the blue corner, screaming “this is it, this is the real Arsenal” (which of course has a well dressed and very well paid Mr Wenger it in) Or those from the opposite corner shaking their heads at the return of the form book asking “what’s all the excitement about” :-) Lets hope for this league game its the former. Swansea are not exactly shining are they, so we should get the job done i hope. Anything other than a win and the subtle sound of the death bell tolls in the background?

  19. stevepalmer1 says:

    Morning all.
Now that is what i call a positive Post and i congratulate Jeff for his faith. I love the stories of how us normal people have tough times, i love to hear of the down trodden rearing up and putting up a fight almost epic. But when you look at the Arsenal Millionares tough times are when you lose unexpectadly against Bradford, These players will not be to fussed, they won’t lose any money and should they undergo a bad injury like you had Jeff they won’t be shit scared when their rent comes in. You are talking about different Animals those that struggle to survive and those that have everything they need, and feel that it would be nice to win something but if it doesn’t happen will just book a very expensive holiday in the summer and get their strength back. These players don’t know hard times, so don’t expect them to care that much..

  20. Joywedsjeff says:

Good morning all, Oz, Adam, Rico, i understand that this issues surrounding the club cannot be wished away. We can’t pretend that this issues don’t exist. But what irks me is the fact that on most arsenal forums and blogs i visit each day i see fans wanting arsenal to finish below spurs so that wenger can go and usmanov can come. That is simplistic thinking at it’s best. If eight trophyless seasons did not give him the sack or cause the board to have a rethink then finishing outside the top four won’t. They clearly have an agenda which they have stuck to although i think that will soon change with the fabled FFP coming in. Whatever side of the debate you are on, it’s time to join hands to support the team. Spursday must not become goonday.

  21. rico says:

    Oz…

  22. Joywedsjeff says:

Thanks Bradster and SP… True talk. The players themselves tell us how much they care and how hurt they feel although i don’t believe they care enough. There is no excuse for not winning today. If we win today then the swans will have a point to prove against spurs after the internationals.

  23. nonso says:

we all knw wenger he cn never get al dis player

  24. frednerk says:

    Morning All

Plan A…Keep the ball,..move and pass, this involves 8 players the centre backs hold position in free play,(dead balls only).
    O..and good luck chaps.
This is the team talk from wenger?

Plan A..Get hold of that fu-king ball, and get down the other end,if you effing lose it,run you effing bollox off and get it back.

This is a team talk from Fergie?

  25. rico says:

    Morning Sp and Jeff….

I don’t think many, if any on here want Arsenal to lose, not to anyone. I know I don’t and I don’t want us to finish below the totts either…

But I don’t think this crop of players know how to fight for a victory when its really needed, and I don’t think we will get three points today either…

I so so hope I am proved wrong….

  26. rico says:

    Morning fred

The second plan is more what our lot need….

  27. Bradster says:

I hope Wenger is ruthless with Walcott today. Play your position and do some graft or you’re off. Use Schez and TV as examples. He needs to show he’s worth his pay rise.

  28. Joaquim Moreira says:

    Good morning all!
    Hope we win today!

  29. frednerk says:

On the subject of finishing above the spuds.
I work with 4 spuds fans,(never heard a word from them),
    until,
the year the spuds finished above us,
I caught the 4 of them in a huddle.

    You know what..I nearly spewed-up.

  30. rico says:

Will Wenger leave TV and Ches on the bench?

Should he leave them on the bench?

    Agree re TW Brad…

  31. Adam says:

    Nonso. I totally agree.

  32. rico says:

    Hi JM…

Blimey fred, when was that – back in the 60′s ;)

  33. rico says:

I had to look back Adam…

  34. Adam says:

I knew you would Rico. :)

  35. Bradster says:

I saw Wenger commented on it Rico. The Telegraph reported something to the lines of captaincy doesn’t guarantee a starting place, that it’s unfair for the performing player to be dropped for the name of captain. Said Schez accepts the decision well and that a couple of weeks break will give them time to get their minds right. Finally, that they will be needed by the team for the run in of games to the end of the season

  36. emma says:

    Good post Jeff

Jovetic is what we need. He is young, quick, good left and right foot, aerially strong, can hold the ball, good dribbling skills and has a knack for goals. In summary he is a faster version of Giroud with good footwork.

Adil rami is error prone and as worse as Squillaci. :) That I will pass into the dustbin. He should never be mentioned in the same sentence as arsenal. There are better defenders in the french league. e.g Thomas Nkoulou(marseille). Watched him yesterday v ajaccio. Very solid and concentration level very high. Quick, mobile defender is what we need.

    If we need a DM/box-box probably Gonalons/Capoue/Kondogan
For keeper I still fancy Begovic. Mignolet/Vorm not my cup of tea :)

Hope we come home with all 3pts today. COYG’s!!!

  37. ozgunner10 says:

Joywedsjeff – i don’t think anyone on here is hoping for Arsenal to finish outside the top four – if you guaranteed us serious changes if that happened, then maybe. Wenger is staying we all know that, he’d be mad to walk, no one would give him the rope he has at Arsenal and he knows that. He’s supremely stubborn and still believes his squad are the dogs. He will make a token transfer in the summer of something around the international class standard but 99% of the first team squad will be there is my tip. Fingers crossed i have this wrong and i mean that.

  38. frednerk says:

    Sorry
Got that wrong 2010 they got 4th.
Hope I’am not thinking ahead rico.

  39. Joywedsjeff says:

Not on here Oz… But you know how bad feelings spread. I think you are right about Wenger. He has been doing the bare minimum for years now. For his own sake i hope he does more than that in the summer.

  40. ozgunner10 says:

we’re all looking for the signs mate, we’re all looking for the signs

  41. rico says:

You know me too well Adam..

So Fabianski starts in goal then Brad?

    Hi emma..

fred, I thought the last time they finished above us was back in the 80′s, sure they haven’t pipped us under AW have they?

  42. Adam says:

We must confront those bad feelings and nip them in the bud I say. :)

  43. Joywedsjeff says:

Thanks Emma. Nonso, is that what ‘your Oga at the Top’ told you.

  44. Bradster says:

That’s according to the Telegraph Rico. Gotta reference my sources before I get told I’m making it up. ;-)

  45. Adam says:

I like to think so Rico. But I doubt it. Curry and chips are a curious combination.
KJ will be back for Round 2 soon. That’s what I’m looking forward to. :)

  46. rico says:

Totally off on a different subject. The supermarkets now have English Asparagus for sale…

    My favourite :)

  47. Joywedsjeff says:

Adam leave KJ alone. Can’t wait for his appearance. C’mon KJ show up.

  48. Adam says:

I saw it yesterday Rico and bought some for tonight. I shall gorge myself in celebration of our glorious win. :)

  49. rico says:

    Brad..

But very nice Adam, especially the Chinese ones….

Well I am out this afternoon, the inlaws have made it to 50 years of marriage, got to go and ask them how they managed it ;)

Hopefully back before the final whistle…. But you all behave ;)

  50. ozgunner10 says:

i can’t imagine how Wenger could start with anything other than the BM starting 11 could he? Barring injuries of course

  51. rico says:

Going to get some today Adam, it really is delicious isn’t it and such a shame the season is so short…

  52. Adam says:

Mrs Adam and I celebrate our Molybdenum Anniversary next week Rico. Nobody understands how she has put up with my sickening behavior for so long.

  53. rico says:

He’s already said no injuries Oz…

So yes, should be same 11….

Really hope Podolski is fit though, be better to see him coming off the bench than Gervinho….

  54. rico says:

What the heck is Molybdenum Adam?

But, I do understand why some wonder……

  55. Joywedsjeff says:

Have fun Rico… Be sure to share the secret.

  56. Adam says:

It is close to Unobtanium on the Periodic Table Rico.

  57. rico says:

Thanks Jeff, I will be mainly keeping an eye on teletext, and trying to nod at the right times when others are talking….

  58. Adam says:

It is easier to get hold of than to have an Avatar pic on HH, that’s for sure.

  59. rico says:

    ‘Unobtainium on the Periodic Table’

Now I am really lost ;)

  60. Bradster says:

Yay, can’t wait for my dose of positivity with a spoonful of listen here son down my throat.

  61. Adam says:

Bradster. Stick around and it will be forthcoming.
I am listening to the Sibelius violin concerto as I write. I think it might be my favourite and so good as a build- up to the game I think.

  62. rico says:

    That’s why I’m going out really ;)

  63. Bradster says:

I was wondering, Martinez must see some magic in Miyacchi as he wants to loan him again even after all the injuries and op now.

  64. rico says:

    I suspect he’ll get him too Brad….

Must go now, back later this afternoon…

Have a good day, up the Arsenal and be nice ;)

  65. ozgunner10 says:

catch ya later Rico – have fun

  66. Kingston says:

It’s the going rate these days, particularly when considering the prices paid for the like of Henry, Wiltord and Reyes some time ago now. Their transfer fees would easily be in the £20m bracket these days. Plus if he can spend £10 plus on raw talent (Walcott / Ox), surely £20m plus is not impossible for more established “top top (quality) players”?!

    Thoughts?

  67. Joaquim Moreira says:

    a clear goal for Everton?

  68. ozgunner10 says:

    did look ok to me

  69. Bradster says:

    What a goal

  70. Bradster says:

I’m glad Fellani is suspended for a few games. I think we need all the help we can get, Everton and Liverpool are on form this season.

  71. ozgunner10 says:

agree Brad – on both points

  72. frednerk says:

    Brad
    Fellani missis the spuds game

  73. allezkev says:

    Transfers…. Yawn…..

    £50 million on two players?!

Yeah, sure, of course, that’s what Arsenal do…

We have in excess of 4 months before the Summer Window opens
In the meantime the Press will continuously print a whole raft of nonsense transfer rumours aimed at causing discord among Arsenal fans…

    People, it’s all a fcuking wind-up.
The Press are a bunch of scummy vultures desperate to pick over the perceived carcass of Arsenal FC…

If you believe those degenerates, then you’ll believe that the moon is made of cheese… ;-)

  74. allezkev says:

    Btw, Diaby, :-)

  75. ozgunner10 says:

    allez – haha

  76. allezkev says:

Anyway, I’m looking forward to the Europa League next season.

The away trips to Red Star Gulag, Cut-Throat Istanbul, Lokomotiv Montenegro and Torpedo Tirana have definately caught my eye…

  77. Hi Kev, Btw Arsene took your advice yesterday. :-)

  78. allezkev says:

Bonza Oz, you finished the grouting then…?!

Well mate, there’s always the kitchen.

    That’s always a walk in the park…

    No hanging about now… ;-)

  79. Joaquim Moreira says:

Arsenal: Fabianski, Jenkinson, Koscielny, Mertesacker, Monreal, Arteta, Diaby, Cazorla, Walcott, Oxlade-Chamberlain y Giroud.

  80. allezkev says:

Nasher, greetings from a wet and windy West End…

Yeah, he always listens to me mate.

We know not what we do, er, well something like that. :-P

  81. Joaquim Moreira says:

allez, we must reserve first for the first game before the group stage. Benfica, maybe

  82. Joaquim Moreira says:

Subs: Szczesny, Vermaelen, Gibbs, Coquelin, Rosicky, Ramsey, Gervinho

  83. allezkev says:

No no JM, you got that wrong mate.

Benfica will be in the CL, with the big boys.

Arsenal will be taking on all the little Portugese clubs like Maritimo, and possibly Sporting. :-D

  84. Joywedsjeff says:

Who’s the ref for our game… Hope he has not drunk too much like lee probert.

  85. Joaquim Moreira says:

Sporting … eheheh they can be relegate…
They are like totts: an aristocrastic club, with many funs, the media with them, always can be champions but at the end they will be the 4th, the 5th or worst.

  86. Joaquim Moreira says:

however Maritimo will be nice… you can visit Madeira Island!
    Everton 2-0 …

  87. Bradster says:

Shew, that’s a lazy midfield and only Ox with pace. More negativity from me.

  88. ozgunner10 says:

up to fifth go Everton, amazing with that squad really

  89. Lewis says:

Good day all. Anyone know any good streams for the game?

  90. DutchGooner10 says:

    Afternoon Peeps of the Gunnersphere,

Bit of a splitting headache today. (Maybe telling on today’s match, kidding Jeff, nice upbeat post)

Woke up this morning feeling like giraffe with its neck tied in a knot. Stiff strained above the shoulders till my cranium. Don’t expect elaborate talk, or elongated for that matter. LOL

  91. agirlagunner says:

Boo!! Is this your debut post, jeff?? Well done!

JM, two of your teams exited the CL last week. I’m sure you’re in a good mood.

    Hey, Shopping Buddy. Howdy??

  92. DutchGooner10 says:

HIGH DEFINITION LIVE STREAM SERVICE. WAIT FOR 30 SEC TO START. CLOSE CHAT IF YOUR CONNECTION IS SLOW.

    ENJOY. COYG!!!!

  93. Joywedsjeff says:

The starting eleven have to be up to the task today. The bench is crap

  94. adam says:

DG. That won’t work on the Mac.

  95. ozgunner10 says:

here’s to us guys – boy do we ever need this one

  96. Joywedsjeff says:

    Yes AGAG… Thanks

  97. DutchGooner10 says:

Sorry Lee was a bit late today.

Hiya Rico, Boo Agag, howdy Jeff, Bradster, Joaquim, Kev, Lewis, Nash, Oz, Scott, Fred, Emma, Adam, Steve, Steve P and all the rest reading…….

  98. ozgunner10 says:

hiya Dutch mate – the reds will clear your headache mate ;-)

  99. DutchGooner10 says:

Adam seriously? Have you tried on your tablet already?

  100. Wavy says:

Why no Rosicky? What has he done to so upset the Arsen cart? Sick note starts, but for how long?

  101. DutchGooner10 says:

    Oz afternoon mate.

    Go Aspirins!!!!!! Hahaha

  102. DutchGooner10 says:

    Ahhhh darn you Adam. ;)

See how my mind runs on low fuel. Got it – High Definition and your Mac.

  103. Joywedsjeff says:

Shut up gary weaver… He is talking about arsenal’s glorious failure vs spurs humilating success.

  104. agirlagunner says:

    I was kidding, JM. :D

Dutch, yous should eat your veggies, you’re always falling ill. ;) Or take WATH’s cue and drink GG. :) :)

    Hello, all! COYGs!!!

    Hiya, Adam. :)

  105. Joywedsjeff says:

Not closing down quickly? Where is the work rate

  106. Joywedsjeff says:

How many touches did swansea take there?

  107. Lewis says:

Lazy performance so far. Swansea much better on the ball.

  108. allezkev says:

Agag, you shopping goddess you, I am good…
Thinking over some more shirts, but I need to save.
    A quandary buddy…

Dutch, 20 pints of egg-nog will solve the headache…
    You’ll be unconscious…. :-D

  109. Gunnerdna says:

    MA08 and diaby???????????????????

  110. allezkev says:

I suppose that the idea behind picking Diaby, is that he is fresh, unlike Rosicky…
And if Diaby breaks down, as seems likely, then AW will have Rosicky to bring on.

We can’t complain about a lack of rotation and of Wenger over-playing certain players.
And then complain when Wenger does rotate!

  111. allezkev says:

    Blimey Saints 2-0

  112. tsghtsGH says:

Emma at 11:07 am. I can’t disagree at all. RAmi… or Rami Shabam the goalie.lol

    btw good afternoon fellow gooners.

It is only at Arsenal that TW14, SC19 and Ox can walk during games and expect to be loved by the fans. Lazy players. AW has to take the blame there…

    COYGsss…….

  113. Gunnerdna says:

This afc team is fucking useless.

  114. tsgh says:

Good point Ak re 3:31. People forget TR07 was rusty on Wednesday….

The Jovetic news should get Dev’s pulses racing. A proper no.10 to orchestrate our attack…

  115. agirlagunner says:

Haven’t been shopping, either, AK. :) Although, I did get some new perfume because we won at Munich. ;)

GDNA, we’re not too bad, now. Still lacking that all-important goal though.

  116. Joywedsjeff says:

Walcott needs to leave the pitch… I’ll take gerv now

  117. tsgh says:

    Afternoon all,

Emma I can’t disagree with your post at 11:07, Emma. Rami is like Rami Shaaban reincarnated.Error prone and lazy, Nkoulou is superior :D

  118. Lewis says:

    Diaby is pointless.

  119. Joywedsjeff says:

If we take diaby and walcott out of this match we will score goals

  120. Kev: Spot on with your 3:31

  121. Gunnerdna says:

diaby and MA08 is worst than denilson.

  122. tsgh says:

… and a good post Joy.Is this your first one?

  123. Joywedsjeff says:

    Thanks tsgh… Yes it is

  124. ozgunner10 says:

wow like a training session some of this stuff

  125. tsgh says:

Its only at Arsenal that a manager will tolerate only 5/6 players defending every match whilst the others watch themselves on the big screen… its a job with the lack of off the ball effort. I think a defence made up of Maldini. TA06,Franz Beckenbauer and Lillian Thuram will still struggle with the lazy bunch in front of the back 4…

  126. Lewis says:

    Agreed TS.

  127. Joaquim Moreira says:

    yes i am agag.
Our solution for today is Gervinho ;-)

  128. tsgh: Word up with your 3:52

  129. tsgh says:

Nice Joy… very good subject you covered. I just think SAF,Mourinho, Huddink and Van Gaal put a potential player’s work ethic above skill/talent whilst the AW, Cruyff, Loew place skill above worth ethics when choosing to sign players.

The Kaizer Beckenbauer even admitted he stopped being a manager because the type of football he likes to play will not win him titles in the present era…

I like the fact that Jürgen Klopp has evolved in his short managerial career whilst Heynckes went 15 years without winning a trophy including managing at RM says it all above philosophy…

  130. One of the reasons behind millions around the world watching the BPL, because you can’t just walk-in and walk-out and, expect to kick the shit out of your opponent. Are we expecting Swansea City to just roll over because we’re Arsenal???

  131. Bradster says:

I suppose take a point away to a decent side and fight another day but can we afford to?

  132. agirlagunner says:

Hiya, ginge. Howdy?? I’m getting nervous watching us.

  133. Bradster says:

    What a waste

  134. tsgh says:

I Miss, longtime! How have you been?

    Agag the lazy bunch…

  135. Bradster says:

    13 mins still for Diaby

  136. Lewis says:

    We are painfully average.

  137. Bradster says:

That’s it Diaby, jog back and point for Jenks that he has 2 men to marky

  138. tsgh says:

    Hi Miss… I meant… I should say lady… lol

    I am feeling smooth today… :D

  139. agirlagunner says:

Walnut is so frustrating to watch. I’m well, ginge. You? If Swansea go on to win this, I won’t be surprised.

  140. Bradster says:

I would agirl, they’re doing as well as we are in the final 3rd.

  141. Lewis says:

    Is giroud on the pitch?

  142. Bradster says:

    Subs time.

  143. Bradster says:

I wonder wot odds you get for the 70th min subs bet?

  144. Bradster says:

Yeah, a decision that goes our way for once.

  145. Lewis says:

    Get in there nacho!

  146. tsgh says:

I am not bad at all..

My Mrs wants to get one of those wedge trainers which she dissed 2 months ago… lol.

I was going to say that is women for you but I am scared of the ladies on here… :D

  147. tsgh says:

Walnut is selfish… and because of that he is not even scoring anymore.

  148. Lewis says:

Arteta loves fouling in dangerous areas these days.

  149. Gunnerdna says:

    two captains don’t make 1

  150. Bradster says:

Wahaha, subbed for an injured left back. There’s a message for you.

  151. Lewis says:

He was very poor today huh brad.

  152. tsgh says:

    selfish lazy Santi… lol

  153. Lewis says:

Since gerv came on we’ve looked much better up top.

  154. Lewis says:

Finally he scores! Well done. The forehead has landed.

  155. tsgh says:

Ramsey is rubbish. Whenever he plays we always lose… did Gerv miss that. Even Stevie Wonder could have scored that…

  156. Bradster says:

Wenger needs to sit him down and explain that either he plays wide right or not at all.

  157. Gunnerdna says:

    top 444444444444444444444444444spuds we r coming……lol

  158. tsgh says:

Lewis Yao Gerv is very frustrating but he works hard and puts in an effort. Arsenal’s issues over the last 5 years has been due to lazy players and non-committed players pretending to be injured post January each season…just my humble opinion

  159. Lewis says:

Well played lads. Much better second half.

  160. Bradster says:

Wow Fabianski and defence, 2 clean sheets. Please no one praise Steve. :-)

  161. Gunnerdna says:

    well done lads, Jenks MOM.

  162. Lewis says:

Agreed TS, he gets in a lot of good positions. If his finishing was better he’d be a very useful player. Hopefully he can kick on after that.

  163. agirlagunner says:

We have a Chesnut and a Walnut. And they both have a starting place. Ick.

Ginge, the ladies on here are tough. :D

    Hi, Bradster!!

We won, we won!! And the Scummers lost!

  164. Adam says:

Two words rarely found adjacent to each other in the English language – Gervinho Scores.

  165. Adam says:

Agag. A bottle of pink champagne tonight m’dear? :)

  166. Bradster says:

    Hi Agag,
Yeah, we sure needed it. Now let’s hope our boys warm the bench again in the internationals.

  167. tsgh says:

Gerv will suddenly look WC when he has a year to go on his contract like all the imports… we will then have the pundits telling us why we did not sign him to a 10 year contract a year before… lol

  168. ozgunner10 says:

well done lads that will do

  169. tsgh says:

‘arry blinking and twitching… lol 3-2 lose to Villa

  170. tsgh says:

Hi Oz. Not a bad week thus far…

  171. tsgh says:

4 points behind the scum. When they play tomorrow we will still have a game in hand…

  172. rico says:

    Everybody happy then?? ;)

Evening peoples, good victory, shame about England’s start in the rugby….

  173. rico says:

    How did Fabianski play guys?

  174. emma says:

That is The Arsenal we Know. Good win boys. TW14 will soon find himself sitting alongside TV5 and Szezesny. Fabianski had nothing to do today. Cazorla fantastic. Gervinho finally scores. Bossielny was superb. Lead the line brilliantly. Defence was rock solid. I love Jenks

  175. DutchGooner10 says:

Agag I was afraid I’d get labeled ‘Sicknote’ sharing my rough night sleep. Left the window open, misjudged the fresh air as temperature dropped considerably. I feel like HH’ perma-crock, very Diaby-sque if you like. :P

  176. Joaquim Moreira says:

Gervinho was the man of the match.
My prognostic at half-time was right.

  177. rico says:

Just read back, so we didn’t play very well, especially in the first half…

  178. rico says:

emma. You can’t, I loved him first! ;)

  179. emma says:

rico – At least we can share :)

  180. allezkev says:

    Wenger out…. ;-)

  181. emma says:

rico – We played well in the first half. We only needed to be patient. It rained heavily in the first half. Ox was unlucky not to have scored. Volleyed on the bar twice. Diaby was off pace though

  182. Joywedsjeff says:

Phew… Did swansea really not have a shot on target? Guess they lacked motivation like bayern? Walcott must start the next match on the bench… He had the nerve to stare at le prof when he saw his number go up.

  183. rico says:

Kingston, welcome to HH, really sorry you were stuck in moderation…

  184. emma says:

    Interlull looms :(

  185. rico says:

    emma. I bagsie mon-fri ;)

  186. rico says:

Thanks for the updates Ak :)

Wish one had gone in for Ox emma, would have really lifted him….

  187. tsgh says:

It was a very solid performance. The swans also play very well in second half of games as we do so to be able to win in the 2nd half is very promising. 2 clean sheets in a week away from home, deserves credit especially for a manager who is clueless and is not talking to his assistant manager who is deemed to be far better. ;)

  188. Wenger Out, you’ve lost the plot. :-)

  189. Joaquim Moreira says:

    Swansea had shots on target.
Fabiansky hadn’t much worked today but I remember one corner he was completely out of the goal.
Arsenal won without art. Was the best team in my opinion but we can’t forget he played last Wednesday and we are not in the start of the season

  190. rico says:

Good to hear – how was Diaby??

  191. DutchGooner10 says:

Barclay’s Premier League Table (updated). Tab on the club names for their upcoming fixtures list, simple squad stats, their recent results over last 6 played and much, much more…… All instantly by one click. Enjoy.

  192. rico says:

Hi Dg, how are you feeling ‘sicknote’ ;)

  193. Joywedsjeff says:

JM, they had shots at goal not shots on target.

  194. Joywedsjeff says:

JM, they had shots at goal not shots on target. At least can’t remember any.

  195. Joaquim Moreira says:

The key game will be M.United. If we win we can be in the four first positions, else not.

  196. allezkev says:

Hey Nasher, give the job to Warnock… ;-)

  197. agirlagunner says:

Even Gdna is happy. :P rico, another clean sheet for safe-hands Fabianski (he still had a few flappy moments though.), Lol.

Dutch, hahaha. You’re the Diaby/Rosickly of this blog. :P

Adam, I quite like that idea!

    Sooo many happy Gunners!!

  198. rico says:

Bloomin right JM, and we don’t want the old badger winning the PL at our ground….

  199. rico says:

Hi agag. Flappy moments, not what we’d hoped ;)

  200. Gunnerdna says:

Rico the last 2 games are like the first 3, is SB allowed to talk again. Breaking news Van P is off the pace, just met a spuds fan, asking me where did I get my afc jacket to buy, fucking rude..lol

  201. DutchGooner10 says:

    Hiya Rico

Much better thank you, the Aspirins won and I took a steaming hot shower at halftime. Now on Japanese dinner. Still bit muscle knotted around/up the neck. That will pass.

Agag how about some Asian massage? (Folks, no jokes on ‘happy ending’ please. LOL)

  202. Kev, WATH would do a better job than Warnock. Plus HH will have a kickback.

  203. DutchGooner10 says:

    Kev

Howdy me old cabbie. Where you among the travelers today?

  204. agirlagunner says:

They have great masseuses in Bangkok and Bali, Dutch. :D :P

Intersnooze upon us again, emma???? Eurgh. I’m so happy Kozzer is back. TV5 has to buck up his ideas.

  205. Joywedsjeff says:

The greedy badger would have won the league before they come. They need just four more wins after today and we are their sixth fixture

  206. rico says:

I think so too Gdna. Has AW finally learned to listen to his understudy?

Glad to hear that Dg :)

    Back shortly, hungry

  207. DutchGooner10 says:

    Agag

No mention of topographic names starting with the capital B, please. Those are prohibited on HH since last week. Bradford, Blackburn, Bayern, Bangkok and Bali all fall in that category.

  208. Adam says:

    Evening all.

  209. potter says:

Did Wenger go on that scouting mission leaving Bould in charge for a couple of days |? Seems to hammer home the importance of clean sheets when you have a team like ours which is always able to get a goal.

  210. rico says:

I hope so Jeff, couldn’t cope with that, mind you, who is to say we won’t batter the gits!!

  211. rico says:

How rude of me, evening all….

  212. rico says:

He must have Potter, went to seal a deal for that freebie striker according to reports…

  213. DutchGooner10 says:

    Kev you monkey

I had to go through a Martha Stewart experience to find out what eggnog was. You will hear from my attorneys soon. See you in court. LOL

  214. rico says:

    Next fixture…

    AFC v Reading

    Swansea v Totts

    Could be interesting..

  215. rico says:

    Evening Adam…

  216. Joywedsjeff says:

Night all… Thanks for your support. I believe we will not only qualify for the champions league but wiil also finish above spuds. That said things must change in the summer. I can’t take a season like this again.

  217. DutchGooner10 says:

    Rico / Potter

Apparently we let our bid run dry on Wilfried Zaha to scoop for this Yaya Sanogo averaging one goal a game for Auxerre. Seems worthy of a gamble imho (after YouTube scouting him). Although it puts skyscraper question marks above Campbell’s head.

  218. DutchGooner10 says:

Evening Adam how’s the city trip planning going?

  219. rico says:

Night Jeff, I await your next post ;) Thanks again for today’s….

  220. rico says:

    Only because he’s free Dg…

We should have sealed a deal for Zaha, he’s a Gooner and we know what we get from those…

  221. stevepalmer1 says:

Just watched the twelve man team United win 1.0 at home to Reading, with Refereeing like this they must win the league, if they could take their own ref with them abroad they would clean up

  222. rico says:

    Sp, wouldn’t they just….

  223. stevepalmer1 says:

Its criminal Rico, and the pundits agree on everything.

  224. DutchGooner10 says:

Yaya Sanogo video / sorry for the musical lyrics ladies.

  225. rico says:

Oh I know Sp, even when they announced the results, for us it was ‘thanks to two late goals’ we won, who gives a toss when we scored them, a game is 90 mins and at least we didn’t nee a ref’s help to score them….

  226. agirlagunner says:

Hello, SSP. :) That is why it was soooooo funny to hear the Mancs complain about the officiating when they played Madrid. I mean, seriously?? You lot get all the favorable calls; and the one time another team was favored, your fans whinge whinge whinge.

rico, how was the party? :)

Dutch, how long are you online in a day? :D

  227. rico says:

    Pretty good Dg …..

  228. potter says:

Long been the case that things won’t change until Ferguson departs .

  229. DutchGooner10 says:

    Rico

I agree, seen Zaha play. Looked future stellar on my screen. Not sure why but team balance youth/experience could be one reason we’ve pulled out.

  230. rico says:

    Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz agag ;)

  231. rico says:

The sooner that day comes the better Potter.

Maybe down to the Walcott deal Dg?

  232. DutchGooner10 says:

    Agag

Why you’re asking? Okay, I confess……… I never skip a beat of the pulse. My fingers are scarcely lifted from the buttons. ;)

  233. stevepalmer1 says:

Hi Agag, Your soooo right :)
Dutch, he looks quite tastey, Wenger will knock that out of him.:) I thought he was supposed to be all gangley. he looks like he can handle himself, and maybe a swop with that winer as well.

  234. stevepalmer1 says:

    winger :)

  235. DutchGooner10 says:

    Rico

Good call re Theo’s extension, our budget is pie-chartered on the length of the full contract period.

  236. rico says:

Dg – I also still believe that TW’s contract was purely about getting a good price for him in a years time….

  237. stevepalmer1 says:

Playing like he has, we wont give him away. :)

  238. agirlagunner says:

Hahaha, rico. Which reminds me… it’s time to zzz zzz zzz.

Good noght, friends. Something to be happy about for a change.

  239. DutchGooner10 says:

SteveP evenings mate. How’s the new live stream working for ya? Pretty crisp, isn’t it…

Already been mentioned, but wouldn’t you just serve Theo his eyeballs fried with a cocktail-toothpick? Had the nerve to stare gobsmacked at the sideline, knowing his ‘royalness’ was on the big screens. Twat.

Off for a few minutes. (Parental advice from Agag)

  240. DutchGooner10 says:

    Nite butterfly.

  241. stevepalmer1 says:

I got my wires crossed somewhere Dutch, thought the game was on at five . don’t know where i got that from but missed the game. Gutted . But i’m sure the stream was blinding :)

  242. rico says:

    Nighty agag, rest well…….

  243. Adam says:

    Evening all-again.
DG. It’s looking like Amsterdam in April or May. Will you be that way? I got a pretty good French feed today.

  244. stevepalmer1 says:

    Nte Agag x

  245. rico says:

    Evening yet again Adam ;)

French Feed, did you enjoy it??

  246. rico says:

I’m thinking most have gone to bed now…… ;)

  247. DutchGooner10 says:

    Adam

I might be able to travel to Amsterdam come May. Keep me posted on the agenda.

On the stream: thought you were joking this afternoon. Did my previous stream service (Ronaldo7) work for you? If it did I will be throwing it in next time.

  248. DutchGooner10 says:

    SteveP

If you can’t catch MOTD tonight, I’ll be posting extensive highlights tomorrow.

  249. rico says:

Dg, you really are the ‘highlight hero’ and the ‘link hero’

    Bless ya :P

  250. allezkev says:

Sorry Dutch, I had a run of jobs.
Finished now, relaxing at home and looking forward to MotD…
    You better now mate.

  251. rico says:

Me too Ak, and Footie first… :)

  252. stevepalmer1 says:

Thanks Dutch, got it on record :)
AK your supposed to be slowing down at your age Mate not accumulating vast wealth for your old age. :)

  253. allezkev says:

Egg nog, Dutch, ha ha ha.
How does that translate to Flemish???

    You ever drunk a ‘snowball’…?

  254. allezkev says:

I’d love to watch Football First, Rico, but i’m not as wealthy as Wath and Adam… ;-)

  255. allezkev says:

    Evening Stevo, ha ha.
I only do it as i’d get bored sitting at home mate.
I don’t usually look forward to MotD, but I am tonight. :-)

  256. stevepalmer1 says:

    Yeh me too :)

  257. DutchGooner10 says:

    Kev

Stop contaminating my grey mass with Martha Stewart. ‘Snowball’ he says, probably Martha on Adam’s crack. You do know ‘snowballing’ is junkie talk for cooking cocaine on a spoon? LOL.

You working the treadmill to pay for next season’s ST? Hahaha, miss ya mate.

    SteveP

The cream is at the start and end. You can skip the lethargic bit in the middle. Sorry, forgot spoiler alert….. ;)

  258. rico says:

    Ak… Me neither..

  259. allezkev says:

    That’s me done.

Fabianski, safe hands, I like that Agag.
Go easy on them cards Shopping Goddess. ;-)

Night Rico, Stevo, Dutch and all…

  260. rico says:

I bet Linekar/Hanson or any other knob on Motd think of a reason why we were lucky Ak….

  261. rico says:

    Night Ak…

In fact Nighty all, Dg, Sp and all…

Sleep well, no doubt you all will, especially when 3 points have been chalked up…..

    Til tomorrow all…. :P

  262. stevepalmer1 says:

Nte Rico, i’m off as well nte all :) move over Rico

  263. allezkev says:

    Egg nog and lemonade Dutch, that’s a snowball… ;-)

You just rest that grey matter amigo.
We all need you, you’re our ‘link-man’… :-)

    Gone now mates

  264. rico says:

:P Sp, mind the hot water bottle

  265. DutchGooner10 says:

Nite Kev, SP, Rico, Adam….and those reading

Me done as well. Night folks.

Kev you and me will be downing a ‘snowball’ when I cross the pond. Promise.

  266. DutchGooner10 says:

    Rico

Native American Indians spoke of ‘fire water’ as reference to whiskey. Hot water bottle, my ass. ;)

  267. rico says:

It will keep my ‘ass’ warm Dg ;)

    Gone now…..

  268. DutchGooner10 says:

    Sleep well Rednose…..

  269. NashuaGunner says:

Good night Rico t’morrow is another day.

DG10, good night and sleep well.

  270. ozgunner10 says:

All about getting what we can anyway we can now and have to leave it to the football gods again and hope its good enough. 2 good results hopefully have lifted everyone although i was concerned at half time as many were but the lads got their win. Congrats to Monreal, well done son. The defense looks changed in their positioning and mentality, wonder what has happened there? Much more solid

  271. The BearMan says:

Very tidy performance by Arsenal. Ok! There were a few mis-passes, but the defenders were not guilty of the usual school boy errors. I was also please to see the lads attacking the opponents goal, yes we missed several, but I prefer that to the 101 passes then loosing the ball.

Arsenal finishing strongly will serve to put the pressure on our noisy neighbours. If Wenger was away for the defence to practice, I hope he spend lesser days in the week on the training field.

  272. Scott from Oz says:

The general consensus everywhere seems to be that suddenly Steve Bould has had his way with our back 4.
Sorry, i do not buy that at all.
The biggest difference is a simple one- our guys are defending from the front, through the midfield and finally at the back.
Too often our defenders defend, and that is it….very little assistance comes from our midfielders and front guys.
The first half v Swansea had me worried, because we were not defending well through the midfield, but this changed in the second half and we were by far the better side.
Though Swansea had no shots on target, they dominated us in the first 45 minutes, and whether it was a last from Wenger or Bould, or both, our guys switched on and got over the top of the Swans, and thank goodness.
There is absolutely no reason we can not go on a winning run now and even have a top 4 spot before we face Utd, but beting them would be the cherry on top!!
Nobody, but noody, can teach guys to defend in a matter of days.
What can be done in a short time is the mentality of players can be changed dramatically, and that is the difference, in my opinion.
    Morning all.
Have a great St Patricks day!!

  273. Adam says:

Morning Scott. I don’t think they necessarily dominated us in the first half myself. Swansea always have a lot of possession. It’s their style, but they didn’t do much with it. They knock it this way and that with the sole intention of opening a gap in the centre of the opposition’s defence that Michu can slide into. Wenger knew that we couldn’t go charging after them early as we would possibly run out of steam later in the game. We did make some errors though and some misplaced passes which gave them opportunities.
I noticed that after an hour they tried to step it up, probably thinking that we would tire, but we had managed our energy levels well and Wenger’s substitutions worked out ok. Personally, I actually find Swansea one of the most boring and un dynamic teams to watch. But that’s just me.

  274. Scott from Oz says:

Hi Adam, and yes, you are right…dominating us in position isn’t the same thing as being dominant.
I like the Swansea style of play, but as with ours, unless you have very classy players, it can seem pretty neutral(searching for the right word) at times lol.
We did seem to get stronger as the game went on, and that holds us in good stead for the rest of the season.
Another 3 points and hopefully this time next year we will be saying it’s another 3 points closer to the title :)

  275. Adam says:

    Agreed mate. :)

  276. Adam says:

Apart from liking the Swansea style that is. :)

  277. Scott from Oz says:

    Possesion, even lol

  278. Lee says:

Lets hope the chavs & the spud’s Thursday night games really take their toll on their performances today!

  279. Lee says:

I’m off snorkelling over a reef….gotta go! COYG!!

  280. Adam says:

    Lee. You jammy bastard. :)

  281. ozgunner10 says:

arh its a tough life Lee :-)

  282. Scott from Oz says:

    Hi Oz.
    Get suffed Lee :)

  283. Lee says:

    I’m still here….

  284. Scott from Oz says:

    Cheeky bastard lol.

  285. ozgunner10 says:

    hello mate aright?

  286. Scott from Oz says:

    I am good Oz.
The little fellas had a good win yesterday.
They went down 3-0 inside 5 minutes, and were 1-4 at half time.
Copped their first (very gentle) rocket for they year, and won 5-4.
Sean scored all 5…..one lucky won, 3 dribbling through the pack and one long range (for a 7 y.o.) rocket.
Little Jack, our downs syndrome fella, had a cracker compared to last week and nearly scored one for us this time lol.
Thoroughly enjoyed wacing us beat Swansea as well, so good results all round!
Hope your weekend was a good one.

  287. rico says:

    Morning all..

Lee, that sounds like a tough day ahead, try and struggle through whilst some of us are surrounded by snow…. ;)

  288. Scott from Oz says:

Rico, my faith lives on…for a few more days, at least :)

  289. rico says:

    New Post up….

  290. rico says:

It does Scott, it does… :)

  291. ozgunner10 says:

wow great come back mate, give him a high five from WA!!
