And no, it’s not a good one is it but who honestly expected any different outcome yesterday?
Of course I hoped, I prayed, I stayed positive in my thoughts right up until Clattenburg blew the final whistle but it wasn’t meant to be.
I’m not going to write a minute by minute blow of the game, I know we all watched it, we don’t need to re-live it do we?
Sadly, the same old thing did us, the inability to take our chances in front of goal, and without surprise, our inability to defend.
We could very well have won yesterday, and as much as it would have given us all a better start to the day, a more bearable day in the office and a smug grin on our face if we saw an old mate who is a Tottenham fan, reality is, a victory would just be short lived because other than bragging rights, a victory would have meant very little, long-term.
Of course, the club will tell us that we need top four to secure Champions League football as it
earns the club lots of money attracts top class players, well we don’t sign that kind of player, so why worry about trying to attract them?
Yesterday’s result may have done us a favour.
It may stop the cracks being papered over, it may make Stan Kroenke think about his pennies and all the empty seats he viewed on his last visit. It make him finally realise that fans want more, especially those who will fill his wallet by committing to next seasons season ticket purchase.
Those empty seats could though be a huge indicator that fans won’t renew, not this time! No amount of transfer spin fed to us will change fans view, not this time surely.
Too many times now we have been fed empty promises and enough is enough. Unless of course he allows/demands Arsene Wenger to finally spend vast amounts of money which will make this squad competitive and does so at the earliest opportunity.
Just thinking about parting with such amounts, must surely bring Kroenke out in a bad rash.
We’ve had money for a while, the latest financial report was no great shock to most, we saw it coming. I know I did!
Since Stan Kroenke took majority control in 2011, he’s done more harm than good when it comes to our squad. Yes, the club have made a few quality signings, but they needed to be added to what we had, not in place of those we sold.
Just think for one minute, add Nasri, Fabregas and van Persie to this current squad and how good would we be?
I know they wouldn’t stop us from conceding goals but reality is, coaching and a purchase of a proper defence minded midfielder would sort a lot of that out wouldn’t it?
But no, Kroenke allowed them all to depart because of one reason or another, probably money and we are now paying the price, we have done for a while.
To get us back on track, Stan Kroenke will have to pay the price, literally but I’m not sure he’s ready to sanction such spending.
Maybe it will all get a bit too much just thinking about spending that kind of money and even he did, I’m not convinced Wenger would spend it.
What if it all gets too much for Arsene Wenger if we fail to secure a top four place, would he walk away?
If so, Kroenke will have to appoint a new manager, he will suddenly have to face a man who will demand cash for players, and not cheap ones either. A man who won’t be quite so loyal I suspect, one who will tell Sky Sports and other interviewing idiots the truth, unlike Arsene who shields his boss..
Is Stan ready for all of that??
If this middle eastern story is true, Kroenke will never have a better chance to make so much money for doing so little.
If we have to suffer abuse from the Tottenham fans for one season, but by the summer we are owned by a consortium/owner with money and ambition, then it will all have been worth it wouldn’t it?
On a final note, no mater what a North London Derby means to us all, why do fans have to resort to abuse during a game. Throwing banana skins at Bale and taunting Adebayor about the 2010 gun attack on the Togo team while they were at the Africa Cup of Nations by singing:
Shot in Angola, it should have been you.
Well it’s not nice is it….
That’s it for another day, try and have a good one…..
