Good Morning Gooners,
Well there is not much gossip today to write about…
Yesterdays post about Victor Wanyama caused a bit of a stir with a number of Celtic fans with many suggesting he is worth far more than the newspapers valuation of £7 Million. Most believe he is a hard tackling no-nonsense midfielder who would slot into any Premier League side and make them a much stronger unit, especially ours. In fact one fan said he is just what Arsenal need to make us a real force in the Premier League.
So, if Arsene Wenger really is scouting this player and he makes a successful bid, it seems that we should not be disappointed, not for one minute. Suggestion is that Yann M’Vila has agreed terms with the local neighbours so if that is true, the defensive midfield options are one down with not too many left to go.
The RvP saga goes on, but it seems that one place he wont end up is Manchester City as yesterday Roberto Mancini admitted defeat in his attempts to sign him. Like us his club are really struggling to offload a few players but can’t. That’s not because they are rubbish and no other club wants them, it’s all down to the silly money they are paid, an amount that most other clubs can’t match.
Van Persie? No, I don’t think he will come here.
No I don’t believe him either!
Time is ticking by, twenty five days remain in this transfer window and whoever wants to sign our captain best get a move on, just like Robin is today with the rest of the squad as they head of to Germany. In the meantime, Wenger is reported to be eyeing up Olympiakos striker Kevin Mirallas to replace our captain if he does eventually make a move away.
Mirallas can play wide or up front and last year he stole the headlines for his club last season by picking up the league’s top scorer and player of the year awards.
Again it’s all guess-work, just as The Daily Mirror are doing today. There is an article this morning which suggests that Arsene Wenger is making the right signings, the ones that could see RvP backtrack on his decision not to sign a new contract, if you are interested in reading it, it’s here.
Hopefully Arsenal will finally confirm the arrival of Santi Cazorla today and we’ll get to know more about what is happening with Sahin..
That’s about it for the day but to end with report which puts the whole will he or won’t he saga, the transfer rumours, in fact the whole world of football into perspective.
That is the tragic news from Romania where young Nigerian striker, Henry Chinonso Ihelewere died during a pre-season friendly yesterday between his club Delta Tulcea and Romanian Liga III side, FC Balotesti.
The 21-year-old collapsed after being on the pitch for just fifteen minutes. Doctors of both clubs battled to resuscitate him for about 30 minutes on the pitch without success.
Thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family.
RIP young man……
