Will we get a third boost? Wenger in for M’Vila and pay-rise for Songinho…

With the success of a fully fit Robin Van Persie and Tomas Rosicky in mind, it would be excellent if we could enjoy a treble this season…

That is, to witness a fully fit Abou Diaby firing on all cylinders and contributing to the team effort in attaining 3rd spot.

Hopefully both Abou and Francis Coquelin will soon be added to the 1st team mix, with a view to being considered by Arsene Wenger.

Arsenal have eight games to get through before the end on the season, that’s twenty-four points up for grabs!

Every single one of those fixtures will be ultra competitive as the season reaches it make or breaking point.

A  fresh pair of legs, maybe even 2 or 3 pairs, could swing evenly fought games our way during the run-in and they could be the difference between finishing 5th, 4th or 3rd…

Arsene Wenger has spent the last few days, keeping a very low profile. his players have not been indulging in their usual habit of Tweeting, save for supporting comments for Fabrice Muamba.

To me, it shows a welcome level of focus on the job at hand and something I hope all the staff keep up until the final game on May 13th.

I want to see my club, my team, my players, doing their talking on the pitch.

I want my to hear my manager staying away from controversial comments and remaining humble before games.

Low profile is the watchword.

No big talk before games, no boasting, just stay calm!!

Transfer tittle-tattle continues to rumble on, with no comment being Arsene’s policy. He is allowing the speculation to flow, unchecked because I suspect that the majority of his targets, are not those that have been routinely touted in the Press/Media.

Arsene has his eyes on reinforcements, but he most certainly won’t alert Mancini and whoever is in charge at Chelsea this coming summer, so that neither of the Petro-Dollar clubs can gazump him in the final straight.

We shall get a myriad of stories and rumours, linking us to zillion different players over the next 5 months and most of those stories will have their origin in the imagination of some lazy journalist or an agent. Each and every one of them, intended to engineer the sales of newspapers, boost internet hits on some scabby website or increase interest in some Tom, Dick, Mario or Harry, footballer.

It’s the same every year and all it does is sow discourse, disappointment and discontent among the Gunners faithful.

We really should be wise to what is coming guys and gals.

Sure discuss rumours, speculate about transfers, suggest line-ups, systems and whatever else rocks your boat, but don’t take all the media crap too seriously, and don’t be too disappointed if 95% of the links to Arsenal, prove to be red herrings.

The speculation, the misinformation, the lies, damned lies and Press transfer gossip, but let’s not forget we already have a great squad of players, we just need them to stay fit more often….

It’s all part of the rumour game and The Daily Mail have another this morning, they suggest that Wenger is definitely after M’Vila but he’s not to replace Alex Song as the latter is set to be offered a bumper pay-rise in a new contract.

    Morning all,

Another mighty fine post AK :)

Not sure we believe any of the rumours in the paps anymore, most are just old stories resurfaced, all because the paps have such little news but need to sell papers :)

But, it’s all good fun reading them

I know I sound like a broken old record but I truly don’t believe that we need too many additions.

Looking forward to the return of Coquelin more than Diaby, sorry but I don’t think the latter will feature much this season….

  2. jimbo says:

alrite rico. hopefully the telegraph know what theyre talkin about , this mvila fella sounds good to me,just what arsenal could do with , altghough the emergence of coqulein could be good nx year, still…its always good to see new blood and mvila is defo a arsenal type player. as for diaby i never really rated him , (own goal against manu springs to mind), even away from that his temper is shit and his attiude for me is rubbish, we need more ray parlours !!!!!! (the king of highbury in my eyes), 100 % fighting for the cause, which i have to say we are defo seeing more of in the team over the last month. like i said b4. get 2 strikers in and a centre mid and we have a chance if we keep this momentum up, which i believe we will. peace.

  3. kc says:

    morning all

  4. rico says:

    morning jimbo,

lansbury, there’s your modern day Parlour, just hope Wenger doesn’t let him go…….

Diaby is not top of my list either, the 4-4 against the geordies stays on my mind, but many think he has something about him so if he stays fit, maybe we’ll see….

    Morning kc

  5. jo cool says:

    Morning all..
dnt realli see why we need m’villa..is he gonna play alongside song?? if so then what happens to arteta, wirlshire and coquelin??..with diaby, ramsey and rocisky we already hav enough midfielders…this arsenal teams only need jus about 2 quality signing and nothing more, the squad is already big enough..

  6. Lee says:

    Moaning Housers!!
    Good post 47!
Good luck Abidal for your transplant today!!

  7. jimbo says:

i dont rememeber diaby EVER having a match wininng peformance for us.. thats the problem right there

  8. rico says:

Morning Lee, I echo that for Adidal…

  9. devilgunner says:

Good morning Guys and Chicks of the Everincreasing Gunners’ Faith.

Good post Sir AK….done from the eyes of a true supporter.

Today I have some jokes for you…..probably you have heard them already. But I chanced upon a paper handed to me by a friend…..here goes.

What is the difference between a Manure fan and a vibrator??
A manure fan is a real dick.

Which ship has never managed to enter Liverpool?
    The Premier Ship

Why did the Post Office recall their latest stamps commemorating Man. Utd?
They had pictures of Manure Players on them…and people couldn’t figure out which side to spit on.

Santa Claus, the tooth fairy, an intelligent Liverpool supporter, and an old drunk are walking down the street together when simultaneously they each spot a fifty quid note. Who gets it?
The old drunk, of course; the other three do not exist.

  10. Adam says:

Morning Rico and all. Let us not get sucked into the folly of thinking that, as we are doing well at the moment, we don’t need too much extra. Always strengthen when things are good I say. Bring on Vertonghen, M’Villa and Podolski and even a mid thirties goalie. Plan for the worst and let the cream rise to the top. That’s enough cliches for one morning I think.

  11. rico says:

    Welcome joe cool

if we signed M’Vila, it can only make us a stronger force, only Song is an out and out DM, if he gets injured we are snooked.

Hopefully we will be in all four comps next season, we need a stronger/deeper squad to comptete in all of them.

But, i’m not sure i believe the story anyway, his price would be hefty…

  12. devilgunner says:

If M’Vila comes than that means that Diaby will never be the same again. It means that he will never recover. And that is a pity because he had tremendous promise. Shame its all gone to pot thanks to that lunatic idiot.

  13. rico says:

    Morning devil & Adam

    like the jokes :)

We don’t need any more like Cliche Adam ;)

  14. Adam says:

On the point of merriment. A wag who sits behind me told me that Fabrice Muamba is wearing a T shirt that says “Pray For Liverpool”. Not a sentiment I share but an indication as to their present plight.

  15. rico says:

Wenger maybe looking to let Diaby leave – this league can be brutal as Eduardo found out and because of one idiot he could very well be struggling ‘mentally’ with the English game.

Would it be better for Diaby to be playing in a less physical league? It’s done the world of good for Eduardo…

  16. Jekyll says:

Wenger said just a few days ago that the return of Jack and Diaby would strengthen us next season. I would tend to believe that means he’ll be buying no midfielders over rumours of M’Vila.

Diaby has been taking up a valuable squad space with no contribution for a long time now, it’s damaging the cause. It’s not as if he was some consistent world beater when he did play, he was a liability as much as anything.

  17. Adam says:

Let’s not forget that Ben Arfa was brutalised by the appalling De Jong and put out of the game for a season but seems to have made a good come-back.

  18. Lee says:

    ABH or GBH, I think it’s called……

  19. rico says:

Jekyll, what Wenger says and what he actually means/does are often gulfs apart, we have found that out all too often during trasfer windows…

  20. rico says:

    Mental strength Adam….

Rambo seems to have it thankfully…

    agree lee…

  21. rico says:

See the FA want Fergie to win the PL, Fulham denied a last minute penalty last night….

  22. rico says:

Off out with Fido before it gets too hot, back in a bit…..

  23. Jekyll says:

rico, true enough but as he tends towards inaction in the transfer market if he can, I’d say historical precedence suggests he’ll do little or nothing, especially in midfield where there are the numbers if all fit.

  24. devilgunner says:

There is a situation which I think that no one might be considering at this moment in time. After the transfer from Highbury to the Emirates AW and the club had a choice. Either pay through their eyes for new players and increase their debt or else be cautious and keep floating and have strong financial foundations with enough cash reserves until the club is in a position to bid for big players.

Up till now I feel that the club has opted for the latter situation. And I have a feeling that this summer will see a different attitude regarding players. If you compare the purchases done in the last summer transfer window to the previous ones you can see that we got players who improved our squad and put it up a level or maybe two. But still its not enough. Therefore now the foundations of a team are ready and AW is maybe ready to embrace new signings which will make us stronger.

However what Jekyll has said still holds for the moment so we simply have to wait and see.

Just to point out that AW at this stage is at the same stage that Sir old red nose was in prior to EPL domination by Manure.

  25. Wasiu says:

Morn’ all, these are some of the reasons why i dont envy managers. AW has a tough decision to make regarding integrating his brilliant youngsters and making big signings

  26. Lee says:

    Rico, for you………

  27. Scott From Oz says:

Ok guys and gals,I have one thing to say,and you’d all better take note…
I am full of French food,French wine and French beer,so ignore everything I say tonight…..unless of course you think it makes sense.
    Those bastards can cook.
My boy ran in and told the Chef he knew how to speak French.
The chef didn’t believe him,so he said Arsene Wenger,Thierry Henry and that fat greedy little shit!!!!!
The Chef replied……..so you do know French, you pronounced Samir Nasri perfectly!!!
How are my fellow Gooners tonight???
I am loving how much I am reading of Spuds players declaring their low patch of form is over….we are back,is the claim.
I suppose two draws in a row is a recovery of form for such a low grade club lol!!!!!

  28. Lee says:

    what you eat Scott?

  29. Scott From Oz says:

I have no bloody idea Lee.
Something with massive prawns, pesto and other stuff.
I recognised the FRENCH fries, and the Profiteroles went down a treat.
    Kronenbourg isn’t a bad beer!!!!!!

  30. Lee says:

Kronenbourg is the way forward mate!

  31. devilgunner says:

According to reports Song is on the verge of signing a new deal.

So some of you might ask……why not RVP first so that the rest follow?

I think that the club is securing the others leaving RVP as the last one. They want to offer him a bigger contract than the rest and if they were to give him, say, 120k than players like Theo and Song would want the same or thereabouts. That is why they started with TommyV, then Djhourou and Rosicky. Now its Song and then next in line is Theo. RVP will be the last one in.

What do you all think about this???

  32. Scott From Oz says:

I’ve tried hundreds of beers from around the world, but this one surprised me.
France is hardly a contender for best beer producing country of the world!!!!
    Very nice.
You poms make the odd nice one!!!!

  33. Scott From Oz says:

Devil,I think the club realises that resigning Song and Theo, then signing Podolski and the like is the best way to convince RVP the club is progressing.

  34. Tj says:

Please guys, if we sign mvilla, where do u place coquelin? I want to believe he is next in line to song. Its gonna be a waste of money and i believe wenger is not gonna buy m’villa.

  35. Steve of Chiang Mai says:

I would prefer Vertongen to M’Villa simply because he covers more positions. Cant really see Wenger splashing 15+M on a DM when he has Song, who he rates as the best in Europe and Cocquelin waiting in the wings. Simply newspaper rubbish when we are travelling well – I mean “hey everything is great” doesn’t sell too many papers.

To be honest with Jack, Rosicky, Ramsey,Arteta, Song, Diaby, Cocquelin Frimpong and Lansbury all vying for 3 spots I just can’t see any room. The boss has suggested Ox will play centrally within a couple of years and we have Aneke and Ozyakup and Yennaris all coming on and half a dozen likely lads in the juniors.

Diaby is a highly talented but unlucky player in my opinion. Consider the reserves game recently where that plonker Brad Jones was treading all over his ankle (I’m from Oz so fully qualified to bag him). The 20 min cameo against Liverpool, a game where we were struggling to go forward, reminded me how good he is.

Jimbo he might not have won us any games lately but anyone seeing his goal against Aston Villa (I think) two years ago know he has the capacity to be a game breaker. (Also remember how so many people were suggesting we sell the injury prone Van Persie 18 months ago)

  36. Jekyll says:

devil, I think it’s difficult to argue the players we signed last summer put us up a level or two, considering we lost Nasri and Fabregas and the replacements are not on their level, though Arteta is decent. The season we’ve had also doesn’t suggest we’ve gone up a level or two as we haven’t competed for anything at any stage this season, whilst we did last season.

I also don’t think the club are waiting to offer RVP a deal until after they’ve sorted everyone else out, I think it’s been offered but he’s delaying until end of season, as he’s said.

Also a bit confused by the AW – SAF comparison as SAF hadn’t had any success yet at that stage whilst Wenger is 15 years in and had a load of success during the first half of his reign. You speak as if AW only started a couple of seasons ago or so.

  37. Le Foxe says:

I agree with Rico – not convinced the team needs to go on a massive shopping spree this summer. For me, the key is to offload the likes of Bendtner (glad he is scoring, should mean a few extra million), Denilson, Almunia, Squilaci etc etc.

That said, bringing in an extra DM like M’Villa means that not only do we have competition for that role, but should we lose CBs again, Song could drop in there and do a better job than Djirou. Podolski would be a good signing, and possibly see us bringing in a mid-30s keeper as someone else said earlier.

All we are seeing at the moment is the team gelling, competition for places meaning people are raising their game and players shaking off their fragile status. If Wenger does go out and secure Podolski and M’Villa before the end of the season that should mean we have a settled squad come August.

Read the interview with Jenks – how awesome is it that we have some real passion in the team. Players that are starting to really understand what it means to don the shirt. For the first time in quite a while, I am feeling optimistic!

  38. rico says:

    Afternoon guys and gals….

Welcome Tj, sorry for the delay in letting you on…

  39. allezkev says:

    Afternoon Gooners.
    Afternoon Rico.
    Thanks for another great sub~edit.
    Evening/Morning Down Under.

  40. rico says:

Afternoon AK, had nowt to do :)

Really good post, what a difference this season could have been had we not suffered so so many injuries?

To lose all full backs at one was a shocker…..

Just like our cricket batting innings

  41. allezkev says:

M’Vila’s reported price has fallen from a high of £25million to the £17million reported in the Press.
    Personally i don’t see Wenger paying £17million!
If he didn’t bid for Cahill when his price shrunk then why bid for a player, who is good, but is he £17million times better than what we have???
In my view, Coquelin is gonna be a massive player for us.

  42. allezkev says:

    Hi Rico.
    Quiet on the streets again.
Spoke to one of the Bolton coaches.
Muamba is getting out of bed but get tired very quickly.
    As for him playing again?
He said that Fabrice has 2 years left on his contract, so it seems that Bolton are taking a long~term and sensible view.

  43. rico says:

Wonder why his value has dropped AK, is his contract soon to run out?

I don’t see AW spending that much either, but ;)

If we keep on getting injuries, Coq will be be our new ‘Grimandi’, just better…

  44. rico says:

Good news on Fabrice, he has all the time in the world to recover, i hope he takes it…

Not good about it being quiet, best go home

  45. allezkev says:

I know what you say about Diaby, Rico.
And i’m not his number one fan by any means.
But having seen how RVP & TR7 have blossomed following an injury~free run of games, it made me think again.
M’Vila is a great player. And i’d love us to get him. But i simply don’t believe the rumours.
Agents love to use our name to spice up interest in their players.

  46. allezkev says:

    Rico… :-). :-). :-)
    I wish i could…. :-)
Gotta do a bit. Lata boss.

  47. rico says:

I know AK, we’ll soon see, not long until the madness begins eh ;)

    Chat later…

  48. madgunner says:

M’vila over Song every day! I see a lot of you guy’s point to us not needing a DM midfielder because of Song. Song is many things but he is not an all and out DM. M’Vila is and a class at that. We have so many times been caught out on a break because we had no one to break up the opposition play, someone like Makelele who M’vila reminds me of in so many way’s. He is a very intelligent player already at 21 and would solidify our defense so much better than Song. Just imagine Kozzer and Verm with a true DM sitting in front of them! it would mean that both the CB could occasionally go on a forward forage, something that both Kozzer and Verm do very well. It would also free up Jack from some of his defensive duty’s to go further forward and start dictating play. Him and Rosicky/Arteta/Gotze? behind the front 3.

  49. allezkev says:

    In~box Rico….

  50. rico says:

    Thanks AK ;)

  51. allezkev says:

Madness. Yes Rico, your right about that.
All the same, we love it.

  52. rico says:

    We do love it :)

  53. TT says:

M’Vila all day long! He is a DM and Song is not. He is just utilized in that position. M’Vila is a true DM in the mold of someone like Maklele. Just Imagine M’Vila sitting in front of Kozzer and Verm giving the added protection and breaking up counter attacks. he would also give Kozzer and Verm the chance to make some forward runs which they both do very well. both are very god on the ball and it confuses opposition [layers when you have CB turning up in midfield or attack. Anyone remember Verm against Newcastle? He is a very intelligent player and at 21 will only get better.

  54. devilgunner says:

Does this mean that we will not get a fee for him??? When does his contract expire?? I expect that he could get us around 2 to 4 million. Are AFC mad enough to allow him to run down his contract or do they get a fee for each year of his contract?

“São Paulo’s on-loan midfielder Denilson has agreed to extend his loan-deal for a further twelve months on the same turns.

Denilson, 24, has come to the fore this season in Brazil, having initially struggled to adapt to the change in pace and refereeing standards.

Denilson has now agreed terms with São Paulo concerning a longer stay and the Brazilian side will now approach Arsenal about keeping the midfielder until June 2013.

“Our conversation was that we have every interest in continuing as we are,” said João Paulo de Jesus Lopes, vice-president of São Paulo. “We want to renew at the end of the contract and he has said he wants too.

“He [Denilson] will speak with his representatives who will contact the English club. There is no rush because he is here until the middle of the year.”

    What do you all think???

Righto…….off for a game. Its against the bottom team so we should not have any worries. But then again……this is football.

cu later at around 4 more hours.

  55. rico says:

TT – I differ re Song, he’s a DM but he just likes to attack ;)

But, still love us to sign M’Vila…

devil – AFC haven’t agreed the loan yet though have they, according to that article?

  56. TT says:

rico the most important attribute for a DM is not size speed or technique…..but intelligence. Having the ability to know what is going to happen and in some cases even before the opposition knows. Song cant do that and a DM that likes to attack as much as Song is not a true DM. We tend to look at his assists and goals and overlook the times when he is not there to shield the defense. A presence of a good DM will blunt the attacks of the other team in more ways than intercepting the passes. like Gilberto did so brilliantly a good DM will fill the space where the opposition striker wants to go and therefore denies him the space he needs. I never see Song do that.

  57. rico says:

He has in some games TT, but agree he likes to go forward a bit too often and exposes the defence, but then it’s a good job he has at times as he’s created the winning goal.

I’d still rather a ‘no nonsense’ beast in midfield though, one who shuts down everthing before it gets to the defence…

But, can you honestly see AW paying what M’Vila would cost us?

  58. TT says:

As a matter of fact yes I can see him paying that. one thing that Wenger values over technical ability is intelligence. M’Villa has that in abundance, football intelligence can make an average technique player great. our Achilles heel for the last few years has been defense. Not the ability to score goals and now when we have 3 good CB’s a good keeper and LB and RB positions are covered the last cog in the wheel is a good DM. Add that to our midfield and our creative players will play with much more freedom and that will put added pressure on the opposing team. in fact I would argue that we need M’vila far more than we would need Hazard or Gotse.

  59. rico says:

For me the solution and better option is to sign Jan Vertonghen, he can play DM, and cover at the back as and when required..

£17 million for M’Vila, just can’t see AW breaking his transfer record on him, yes I’d love him too, and get Vertonghen and Podolski and Jussi but….

The only thing that gripes me about Song is his clumsy tackles in dangerous ares and his sometimes sloppy/casual passing to the oppo.

Where would M’Vila leave Coquelin and Frimpong??

  60. TT says:

Where they would be left nobody knows….but we can’t wait for young players to mature, we need them ready to play in the Prem. Jack is one of the few players in recent years to be able to do that from the start. Ox may well follow him but as for Coq and Frim they are either ready for the position or not. if not buy a ready made player. And Verthongen would be everything we have done wrong in the past. Buying players and then playing them out of position or buying players that are versatile, good players but brilliant at nothing.

  61. rico says:

You have shocked me about Vertongen..

I’m just trying to see if from Wengers point of view, Coquelin is ready, he’s shown that and many fans really can’t wait to see him pushing Song for a place.

JV plays both defence and DM for his club and country, imho that wouldn’t mean we’d be playing him out of position, it would mean we had a player who is equally as good in both positions…

  62. rico says:

sorry madgunner, all firts comments go into moderation and i didn’t see you in there….

I wonder how many afc fans have actually watched M’Vila play more than a handful of games??

How do we know he adjust to the PL??

Tbh, if we are to sign a DM, I’d much reather it be Fellaini….

  63. TT says:

Not out of position but whom would you put out of the team for him? We have enough of versatile players as it is and why buy another one when you can actually buy a specialist for a position?

  64. TT says:

I have seen him play a good few times rico and every time I see him play I get more and more impressed.

  65. TT says:

And I am not easily pleased….;)

  66. rico says:

I’m not a huge fan of Merts TT, we will hopefully be in all four competions, we’ll need more at the back than what we have, signing a player like JV will allow proper rotation/rest without disturburbing the play too much…

  67. rico says:

TT, fair point re you watching him, I stand corrected there ;)

But, the PL is very different, i’d much rather Fellaini who we all know and is very very good :)

  68. allezkev says:

Gotta TT. I only saw M’Vila when he played against England.
But if he is as good as you say he is, then one of the financially doped clubs will get him.
Petit arrived as a full~back. He didn’t do bad.
TH14 arrived as a winger. He did ok.
But i know what you mean about a Jack of all trades etc.

  69. rico says:

Gotze has signed a new contract at BD – Good ;)

  70. allezkev says:

Btw Gotze has signed a new deal at Dortmund.

  71. allezkev says:

    Snap. :-)

  72. rico says:

AK, but is JV a true ‘jack of all trades’ – i would beg to differ ;)

  73. rico says:

I’m glad AK, we don’t need that speculation all summer ;)

Anyway, if he wants a move, BD have just ensured that only Citeh can afford him ;)

  74. allezkev says:

    True true.
How many positions must you be able to play?
    LJW plays only one… :-)

  75. allezkev says:

    He’s still very young Rico…
But i never thought we would get him anyway.
Two years from now and if he continues to improve he’ll be a £45million player.

  76. rico says:

Let’s not forget we are after Belhanda :)

  77. rico says:

But that’s just it AK, Wenger likes to sign players who aren’t just a ‘one man band’ – i think it was devil who commented about that here a while back.

Your earlier comment shows that too, so many that he has signed are able to play in many positions….

    JV is perfect :)

  78. rico says:

I don’t think we need him AK, we have plenty of creative options, now we need to sure up the defence and get at least one goal scorer…..

  79. rico says:

Off to get dinner, catch you in a bit…..

  80. devilgunner says:

And I am back. Open mouthed and still in shock. But in 7th heaven.

  81. devilgunner says:

Today my team has broken a personal record. A 14-1 win. Never in my life have I experienced anything like it. It quite even in the first half. We were 0-1 down after 10 minutes. Then we got a lucky penalty….the defender fell and hit the ball with his hand…1-1. Then till half time we scored 1 more which was quite a good worked goal. 2nd half started and the man in the middle stepped in. He sent off one of their defenders and I am still scratching my head to try and find the reason. It was a normal routine foul which did not even merit a yellow let alone a straight red. And from a direct freekick we made the score 3-1. The other team lost their heads and we kept scoring. Eventually we finished the game against 9 players.

Never in my life have I experienced a 14-1 score. Pity some of the goals were not distributed in all of the other draws we had.

So we still remain 2nd but a good long way from the leaders. We do not have a hope for the league due to the many draws we have had.

Off to have a shower now.

  82. rico says:

Yeah devil, good for your boys :P

    Evening to you…..

  83. stevepalmer1 says:

    Evening all,
    Good advice Sir Kev,
Keep our noses to the grindstone and concentrate, give them no news what so ever let them turn up to a game and watch if they want to know anything. We need a low profile and keep playing like silent assasins.let them worry about us.

  84. devilgunner says:

yes Rico. Good for my boys an me. However I am still in shock regarding the result. Now its off to bed…..hoping that Bolton hold the scums to a draw.

  85. allezkev says:

Cheers Sir Stevo. You must be busy mate.

  86. rico says:

Evening Steve, and you post is up tomorrow, just to keep the theme going ;)

  87. allezkev says:

14~1. So it was a narrow win.
    You just scraped by. :-)
    Offski

  88. rico says:

  89. Joaquim Moreira says:

    I’m watching Benfica-chelsea now

  90. rico says:

Hi JM, totally agree – Jussi :)

  91. rico says:

Just seen the ‘story’ about the Chavs wanting Laurent Blanc as their new manager :)

Wonder if he’ll follow in AW footsteps and build a youth side

  92. rico says:

    Righty-ho

That’s me done for another day, catch up tomorrow at some stage…

    Nighty night all……

  93. Scott From Oz says:

Rico, you do know Jussi is married, don’t you?
I am on to you lol.

  94. Scott From Oz says:

    Morning all.
    Goodnight to most.

  95. allezkev says:

    Morning Scott.
Scott, Rico only has eyes for Robin Van Thighs.
Now we need a Chavs win tonight and a CL s/f straddling their visit to Ashburton Grove.

  96. Scott From Oz says:

With Gotze signing a new deal, does this mean Wenger will switch attention to the player he has always actually wanted in Hazard????
The guy with more X factor about him than any young footballer in the world.
I’ve voiced my opinion on his apparent shopping of himself around…….I think its just crap, and given the circumstances, the only possible course of action he can take.
Gotze has been the man of the moment for a few months at best,Hazard has been in Wengers crosshairs for a few years.
Should we,could we all really believe he’s suddenly forgotten about Hazard?
Be honest in your thinking though and answer though…….would anyone really be devastated if we got neither player??
We have an abundance of talent on the wings and in the midfield.
    Our backline,now fit and healthy,is a very,very good unit.
Where have we been lacking, and I am not talking about when injuries take hold………striker!!!!!
Even when all are fully fit,we have one goalscorer.
This is the single position we truly do need help in,and this should remain the focus of attention.
    Podolski,or a player of similar quality,is a must.
I will agree that Vertonghen would be a fantastic buy, because of his versatility.
    A goalkeeper……..Ricos man on a free would do,and sell Fabianski,Mannone and Almunia.
I quite like Fabianski, but he wants to play top flight football, let him.
So three purchases…..Podolski,Vertonghen and Ricos himbo,Jussi.
Twenty five million or so…….not going to break the bank, all quality players, but not buying players for the sake of buying players.
All fans need to accept the fact we’ve had a woeful run with injuries, but with moat players fit, look how well we are travelling.
All this plus Jack to come back.
Think about it……we would have a pretty great squad.

  97. Scott From Oz says:

    Morning AK.
Oh,and congrats to Devil on the big win.
    Chelseas got nothing AK!!!!!
A little spurt always occurs with a newanager, buy its still the same group of overrated, overaged tossers.

  98. Lee says:

I concur Scott, Wenger’s number two is as important as a world class striker.imho!!
Hazard would be a coup but if I put my hand on my heart, we won’t spend the transfer fee for him….. Be nice though!!

  99. Lee says:

Benfica have got a Portuguese Rory Delap… :)

  100. Lee says:

    Mata hits the post…..

  101. Scott From Oz says:

Do we need him though Lee?
If we did sign him,I’d be ecstatic, but if we don’t,I won’t be upset.
He’d be an upgrade…he is that good.
Get that Podolski for starters….the rest will flow on from there.

  102. Lee says:

Yid extra time would be nice…..

  103. Lee says:

Be a luxury signing….we don’t really do them!

  104. Lee says:

    1-0 chavs….

  105. Lee says:

    Made by Torres!

  106. Scott From Oz says:

But never actually scored by Torres lol.
The signing of Hazard would just keep the Wenger bashers quiet, and yes,he’d definitely add quality but which player will lose out?
Anyway,as normal,we await the transfer window with aniticipation and without knowing what the helll will happen.

  107. Lee says:

    Good night Housers!!

  108. Scott From Oz says:

    See ya Lee.

  109. stevepalmer1 says:

Sorry sir Kev, yeh been a bit busy, the sun comes out and the phone starts ringing you know the score, i switched off to watch the chav game, probably catch you all tomorow nte nte.

  110. devilgunner says:

Good morning Guys and Chicks of the ever increasing Gunners’ Faith.

NICO Yennaris is excited about leaving his comfort zone at Arsenal to join Notts County.

The England youth international, 18, has spent 11 years with the Gunners, having joined them when he was seven, and he lives close to their training ground.

But he is now staying in a hotel in Nottingham, after making the first loan move of his career to Meadow Lane until the end of the season.

He made his debut for the Magpies in a goal-less draw against Scunthorpe, replacing suspended Notts captain Neal Bishop in central midfield.

“I’ve been at Arsenal for a long time so I really feel at home there, but it’s good to come out of your comfort zone sometimes to learn and experience new things,” he said.

“Coming to Notts is a good opportunity for me to do that, play games and hopefully improve as a player.

“I’m really looking forward to the challenge.”

After making his full debut for the Gunners in a Carling Cup tie against Bolton last October, Yennaris made his Premier League bow as a substitute against Manchester United only two months ago.

“You can’t ask for a better debut,” he said. “To play against one of the best teams in the country was a great feeling.”

Yennaris is highly rated by Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger and Magpies manager Keith Curle felt the promising teenager made an impressive debut against Scunthorpe.

“He was a bit nervous at the beginning, but once he settled down he gave a good account of himself,” he said.

Good. It seems we have another player who will definately go on to be a 1st team player not just a squad member.

  111. rico says:

    Morning all….
