Best performance this season? DVD time after battering Tottenham?

Let’s get straight into the game, no faffing eh!

Totts kicked off and within two minutes the worst fear became reality when Saha put them ahead, thanks mainly to a huge deflection off Vermaelen. The defence was all over the place, Gibbs had let Saha run free to get on the end of an Adebayor pass… Thomas tried to get a tackle in but just helped the ball loop over Szczesny

Wake up call?

Soon after, we had a shout for a penalty as Gibbs was bundled over but no surprise when Mike Dean dismissed the call…

Another penalty shout by us followed as the ball appeared to hit Parkers hand but this time, Dean was right to deny us as it hit the chest of the Yid Tottenham man..

We may have been 1-0 down but the players heads were up, well up….

Robin had our first real chance but his shot went just wide, we had a lot of the ball and created a few half chances but Tottenham were always looking dangerous on the break, we had to be careful not to concede a second so early on..

Bale then got the better of Sagna down the left and whipped a cross into the far post which Kranjcar sent over the bar.

Round about the twenty-minute mark, a moment of magic by Robin, Sagna takes a throw-in, straight to our captain who turned and half volleyed a shot on goal which took deflection and went inches wide of the post.

A goal was coming, you could feel it….

Rosicky was the next to go close, so very close with a super glancing header from an RvP corner, great save from Friedel. Tottenham then went close on the counter attack through Walker but his shot went wide.

Modric was the first in the book, followed shortly after by Koscielny for a late one on Kranjcar and Scott Parker for a naughty tackle on RvP on the edge of the penalty area.

Then Mike Dean stole the show by awarding Tottenham a totally undeserved or justified penalty.

Bale decided to be the latest candidate for the GB Diving team by earning a spot kick. Szczesny was deemed to be the man guilty of tripping Bale over with his hand but no booking and no sending off, yet that was a clear goal scoring opportunity!

Replays clearly showed that no contact had been made and Dean made yet another major feck up in a game involving us…

Up stepped our old boy, 2-0 and thankfully no great celebration! He thought about it though….

How would we react was the question on every Gooners mind I am sure, would we sink or would we start swimming?

On thirty-five minutes, Theo headed a stray ball ahead of him, he ran on to it and the route ahead of him was clear to drive on into the penalty area but instead he panicked and tried to find RvP far too early and a great opportunity went by.

At this point, many shouts from fans were no doubt was about getting Theo off, get Chamberlain on, Theo is rubbish etc etc etc….

Justified? Maybe, Right, well you know the answer now….

Five minutes before half time, we started our comeback, RvP had a shot which hit the post and came back to Arteta, the latter crossed into the area and Sagna of all people headed home, great goal and 2-1.

Within minutes, RvP made it 2-2 with a beautiful curling shot which left Friedel stranded, having picked up the ball on the edge of the penalty area and losing his marker. Genius, pure genius!

We were swimming alright and we were in control, shame the half time whistle had to blow…

Before it did, Arteta found himself in Dean’s book for a late one on Modric!

Harry made a couple of changes for the second half; Van der Vaart came on for Kranjcar and Sandro for Saha.

Yossi had the first chance of the second half with a well placed shot towards the inside of the far post but Friedel made a good save. He didn’t miss his second chance though from another break which found Sagna on the right, he crossed along the ground where Tomas and Theo were lurking but the Czech got there first and flicked the ball over Friedel, a superb classy finish and we were 3-2 up…

He cares.....

Walcott was the next to have a chance but his shot went just wide of the far post.

Sandro goes in the book for a dreadfully late tackle on our captain!

Next of note was a moment that I thoroughly enjoyed watching. ;)

Rosicky had the ball, played if forward to RvP down the left, there was no-one one minute, the next there was Theo who had sprinted from the half way line into the penalty area, RvP played the ball into his path, a great first touch, followed by a suspect second but boy did he finish well?

So does he.....

4 – 2!

Just in case any fan thought Theo was lucky, within minutes Alex Song played the ball to Theo, who held his line well to beat the offside trap, and finished with pure class, stunning.

5-2 and back in 4th place.

With fifteen minutes to go, Jenkinson makes his PL return, with Gibbs going off, Rosicky played a wonderful one two with Theo but the latter saw his shot go wide, we’ll forgive him for that one as it was on his weaker foot. ;)

Just before eighty minutes, Theo made way for Chamberlain and Arry brought on Dawson for King..

The ‘olays’ were loud and clear as we just kept the ball, it was such a wonderful sight wasn’t it?

Just one last moment of magic to mention and that was of course form our captain as he jinked by three of the Totts players in the middle of the park and no matter what they tried, RvP came out with the ball – Happy feet!

And these two certainly do.....

Then a moment of madness by the already booked Scott Parker, a nasty tackle on Thomas Vermaelen saw him off for an early bath!

Actually, do swamp dwellers bath?? ;)

Gervinho then came on for Yossi.

Just before the final whistle went, Sagna wanted to make it 6-2 but his shot from miles out went flying over the bar.

Did he care, did you care? I know I didn’t….

Game over and we had beaten our not so loved ones down the road.

Ok, the first half, one man stood out for me and that was Theo Walcott. He was dire, nervous and totally out of depth but, his second half performance was darn good and his finishing was sublime.

He could play central when he finishes like that. ;)

Other than that and the moment of defensive madness for their first goal, we were stronger today, a lot stronger mentally in my opinion.

We were winning the defensive ariel battles, the midfield battles and we created chances, plenty of them and taking five against that lot was pretty special.

Just had to chuckle when Parker went off , many an Arsenal fan waved a red card at him, no doubt those were ready for Arsene Wenger had we lost – but we didn’t and that idea backfired.

Aren’t we all glad it did……..

Finally, we have all given Arsene Wenger a bit of a hard time over recent months but yesterday, credit has to be given where it’s due.

He started with Yossi and Rosicky as we needed experience and both had really good games, he took a bit of a risk on Gibbs who is only just back from injury and it worked but most of all, he didn’t panick after Theo had a shocking first half.

He stood by them all and they repaid him, and all of us fans!

Well done Arsene, you got it spot on yesterday, and so did the players you have faith in!

I’ll leave it to you all to rate the players, me, well I rate them all very highly after that result, in fact from the moment Sagna got our first goal, I’d say that was the best performance of the season.

Who thinks we should put together a DVD? (Just kidding of course)

Not Tottenham, that’s for sure…….

Have a good day all, I know I will……….

“Rosicky had the first chance of the second half with a well placed shot towards the inside of the far post but Friedel made a good save.”

It was Benayoun that had the chance….great post by the way.

Feel free to check out my post on the game in my blog.

    Morning all

    e106, nah, Tomas i’m sure – i’m going to check ;)

hope you enjoy it devil ;)

  6. Osi says:

well written. Back to earth until new St. Tteringham Day. Wenger is great professional and pragmatist who always reign in his emotions as well as our emotions as fans. He never panicks; he even thinks the boos as jokes.

I thought Rosicky was amazing yesterday and so was Song, Sagna, Walcott and Van The Man. birlliant stuff, football is back to home.

  7. Matt J says:

High 5 – 2 all the spuds out there!!! THE KINGS OF THE NORTH LONDON !!!

  8. rico says:

Morning Osi, thanks – they are much easier to write after games like that :P

We can hunt them down now, surely…..

3rd really could be up for grabs…

  9. lee says:

    Still smiling….morning all!!!

  10. rico says:

Morning Lee, hope there are a few Totts in the office ;)

  11. lee says:

I see bale is not being buried by the press for his blatant dive…..ho hum! cheating fck!

  12. UpTheArse says:

Best Sunday in a long long time, hanging today though! Thought the whole team were brilliant, Spuds didn’t deserve either of their goals and had it not been for that disgrace of a ref the Score line would reflect the game even better. We absolutely battered them start to finish, RVP was magnificent!

  13. Scott from Oz says:

    Great day.
Seriously struggled with weariness all day,but got home, watched a replay, then the EPL highlights show and cheered each and every time we scored.
I raised a question(on the previoust topic though) ,so give me some thoughts.
Alex Song….if he plays well,we play well.
    He goes missing,we go missing.
Does he simply reflect the sides attitude on a given day,or is he more influential than we think???
A round of applause to all on here….the banter during and after the game was electrifying!!!

  14. lee says:

    i sit 2 desks away from John Pratt’s son……SWEET!!

  15. BLEHUR says:

Thats all your gunner get this season, so make the most of it, We just didnt turn up yesterday, you didnt play well Spurs were just poor.
Next youll be thinking your going to win the Prem…..In your dreams.

  16. Merlin96 says:

    Yup.
You can see that fierce concentration of Sagna when he came in from the blindside, headed in that goal, ran to it, collected the ball and ran straight to the centre circle, no celebration, no smile, just pure focus to get the game started…..

you can feel the terrible anger bottled inside Sagna when he ran back to the centre circle with the ball….

Guess that 0-2 scoreline is a superb wake-up call to get the TEAM going..

Go and watch that DVD again..

    Oh yeah..this saying:

    We defend as a unit;
    We attack as a unit;
We are always talking to each other.
    Philippe Senderos,
    Bernabeau Stadium, February 2006.

  17. Scott from Oz says:

Osi,don’t leave Koscielny out….he was his usual brilliant self.

  18. rico says:

Its the totts Lee, they are fast becoming the new manure ‘everybody loves them’ – their players won’t be highlight for be cheats…..

  19. UpTheArse says:

Have been looking forward to this post!!! We’ve gotta go and do the same to the Scouse next weekend, they were very lucky to win yesterday and looked very beatable, especially if we can play like we did against he spuds. I think 3rd is doable!

  20. Merlin96 says:

    Scott,
1st half – where is Song?

2nd half – all-action man, everywhere on the pitch.

  21. devilgunner says:

Good report Rico. You managed to play the game in any readers’ head. Now produce a DVD…….from 4-4 to 5-2.

Maybe Rosicky will do get the contract for around 2 or 3 more years and help Aaron through it until he can take over. HE WAS SUPERB YESTERDAY

At my place of work and at the club I coach there are some spuds. I have already had enough today to last for a lifetime. More like that till this evening and it will last for eternity.

  22. Osi says:

Rico you know I was very optimistic yesterday before kick off and went to restaurant to match. Then suddenly, Tottenham have 2 freaky goals resulting from some poor defending from our part. For once my optimism was gone and I was blaming everyone; the arse players, Tottenham divers, and con ref. Then a teenage boy next to me told me that Arsenal are going to win 3-2, dont worry. He said he never supports Arsenal but today he has feeling the match would be won by Arsenal. at end he was right we won. I’m very happy.

We can finish 3rd but only if.. big IF.

  23. Osi says:

“Arsenal are alive more than anybody thought before the game.” Arsene Wenger

    Best quote this week

  24. Potter says:

Nice to hear the vilification of Bale’s diving in the media today ……………………….Not.

  25. rico says:

Hi UTA, from the moment Sagna scored, i thought they were all brilliant….

Morning Scott, you have a point about Song, if only he could play well every game eh…

Lee, then keep smiling at Mr Pratt jnr

  26. Osi says:

Rico you right Koz was also superb albeit one small slip that initiated the first goal.

I never thought I was gonna say this, but we missed the Big German big time.

  27. Osi says:

Rico , can you tell me any DM in the world who can make assists like Song does in PL this season. How fast his development has been?

  28. rico says:

    BLEHUR..

    Didn’t turn up???

You did, you were just totally outplayed and couldn’t play your game, give credit where it’s due for once, not even with the help of the deflection and the ref could you hold on…

Battered good and proper and we didn’t need help of the ref unlike your lot seem to when playing us!!

  29. Mohd Isa says:

The gunners did no t engage in endless passing in front of defenders. Notice the high ball from Song for Walcott’s 2nd goal. This time it was a one pass by passing a posse of defenders..
Now if the gunners play like this ie economy of passes and harass and harry the opposition, there is no reason the 4th spot cannot be clinched.A word of warning. The hdl is a recipe for the likes of quality teams like MU/MC and others. If every member of the team attacks and defends as a unit, anything is possible,

  30. rico says:

    Thanks devil,

personally i’d keep Rosicky as a squad player, his experience and determination was awesome yesterday and seeing his reaction after we scored and he scored just shows he really cared about what that game meant to the club and fans yesterday.

You can’t buy that and if he sticks around, he can pass that down through the reserves. Wouldn’t keep Yossi though….

  31. stevepalmer1 says:

    Morning all,
How you must have loved writeing that one Ricolicious, i could feel your passion coming out , I’m sure you like many Gooners had doubts befor the start i know i did, but i like many prayed that if we were going to make a fight back for this season it would be against our arch rivals, i sent over 20 texts out to my Spud mates and had 3 returns, LUCKY, YOU FOUND YOUR PHONE THEN, AND YOU WERE MAGIC TODAY BUT WE’LL SEE IN MAY. had it been me my phone would have been on silent. A great display from the lads i must admit, and well done Arsene i have been hard on you lately, i know you have been ill in bed for a few days, so i assume some one else has taken them for training, so you now know what to do delegate son.

  32. rico says:

Osi, you and me both at 2-0, mind you, my friends soon realised it was best to leave – they were gone just after KO

I was quietly confident but at 2-0 i just couldn’t see us getting a victory, we had chances but they weren’t coming off but when Sagna got his goal, game on and from then on, although we were no doubt all a tad nervous, there was only one winner….

Talking of DVD’s, wasn’t VdV cack when he came on :)

  33. rico says:

So typical of the Arry loving media Potter

I think Merts would have struggled against them tbh….

  34. devilgunner says:

Now after the euphoria and electrifying atmoshpere back to business.

All the team was superb from the 5th minute onwards yesterday.

    However………..

We need to concentrate the whole game. The defence was all over the place for Saha’s goal and there was a great gap between Song and Kozzer with Tommy trailing behind and the ball was played perfectly into the space. It was poor play from our defensive department. Even the ref was placed poorly behind although that did not stop him celebrating like the monkey he is (Sir SP’s credit though….he pointed it out in yesterday’s post). The scum were quick to exploit the gap and with Saha and the togolump up front occasions were definately going to be created.

Theo needs to have more faith and also be more calm. He plays greatly when other teams attack us and maybe that is why he is better as an impact sub. When players are tired to chase back and believe me, the scum were so crap that Walker played much more than his usual self yesterday and thus tired easily.

We need to allow Thomas Rosicky the freedom of playing in the hole regularly. Cesc was a great player but whenever Thomas played it was rarely in the hole. In the last games Thomas was given the chance there and AW can do no better than to play Thomas there and alternate him with Aaron. Aaron can learn and at the same time not much weight is put on his shoulders.

Sir SP pointed out the absence of AA. I had felt the same but since a player is gone its a 50/50 situation. However his influence may not have been on the pitch. Going back to the Manure loss one could easily read RVP’s WHY??? That means that in the dressing room he may have created factions and the players could not gel well as a result. AW moved him on and suddenly we saw two things rear up their head. One was the teamwork was transformed overnight and secondly and more impportantly RVP scored only once out of the high 5 we got against the scum. The defence, the midfield and the wings also got in the act. Again its a 50/50 situation and I might be wrong.

Those who criticise Chesney should note that he was perfectly placed for the scum’s first goal and throughout the match. He is still young and therefore mistakes will be made. But you can be sure that he learns from them. So that makes him an untouchable. But we do need a better bencher like Jaaskelainen to help him and also play his part.

As Scott Hoppity Hop has rightly pointed out whenever Song is up for it we batter teams. Song or not, the defensive midfielder position is today’s most important part of the team. That is why we need another player of the same calibre there. We have Wilshere, Coquelin and Frimpong who although they are injured give us the right edge. Buying another will not help. These four together with Ramsey, Arteta, Rosicky and Diaby can give us a balanced midfield. But Song, Arteta and Ramsey need a rest. They are played out.

However we play its a great feeling when we batter the scum from the slum.

  35. Osi says:

Yesterday was a Day; the day our Noisy neighbours come with a hope
They wanted a double over us

They had drums, in form singers and a guy dressed in black with a whistle in one hand.

They wanted to go back to LillyWhites with a little sarcastic Song:
In Arsene We Trust type Song

But, we had a Stubborn kind of guy who mastermind a happy ending
Yesterday was a Day we wanted to Sing One simple Song

‘Wait for another season for a double over our soul’

Yesterday we had a purpose; we dressed up in uniform
we dressed up for the big party
We lined up a group of artists ready to perform
Driven by our leggy well wheeled Van
With all Arts and Mozzart in the middle
We knew our Song is perfect
We knew we were ready to celebrate another St. Totteringham’s Day

  36. devilgunner says:

Yikes…..we have our first scum supporter who can read or write properly.

    I am overawed.

Now you listen Blehur, ENJOY IT WHILE YOU ARE UP THERE BECAUSE IN MAY YOU WILL BE SHITTING IN YOUR PANTS HOW COME FOR THE UMPTEENTH TIME IN LIVING MEMORY YOU HAVE MANAGED TO BALLS IT UP AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN.

SCUM go back to your SLUM

  37. lee says:

Still like the earlier quote “best yid team in 50yrs worst Arsenal team in 15yrs!!”
Shows how shit they really are….

  38. lee says:

morning Devil….stop beating around the bush!! ;)

  39. Osi says:

rico they missed the best part of the party, it looked the ambiance in the stadium was great. the camera at one point was on a guy a fan who so amazingly supportive of team; a guy with a never day attitude. It was when Sagna scored I think. He just looked so trusty in the team’s ability to come back.

  40. devilgunner says:

This is for you Blehur…….how much did you pay Mike Dean for his celebrations????

  41. devilgunner says:

    Beating around the bush??????

I AM BEATING THE BUSH MATE. And enjoying every single minute.

Like Lee said and I agree……that comment “best yid team in 50yrs beaten by the worst Arsenal team in 15yrs!!”…….. takes the best quote of the century.

  42. devilgunner says:

Lee…..Good to see you smiling mate. :)

Hope you are feeling warm again.

  43. Osi says:

Spurs fans we don’t need to wait May to show our happiness, we have every right to be happy and enthusiastic; we’ve just beaten you by 5-2; we scored 5 goals against your best team in your history; we have just witnessed our worst team in 15 years spanking you so badly; we are in fourth place; we closed the gap between you and us. So many reasons for celebrations.

  44. stevepalmer1 says:

Morning to all you happy Gooners. Have to go out, keep the celebrations going, its a pleasure to read your comments COYG’s

  45. lee says:

Thanks Devil….lots of scum in the office, makes it even sweeter! Busy basking in the win still

  46. Scott from Oz says:

If we win next week,we will be 4 lousy points behind Spuds…….
It pains me to even think it,but go Utd!!

  47. rico says:

Great comment devil – and i didn’t give a thought to what impact AA could be having on the rest, if he’s been lazy in training etc, that in itself can upset fellow players…

    Nikki b was the same…..

  48. Wavy says:

Thank goodness my heart won and my head lost yesterday. Marvellous. Another Chelsea morning’ – after!

Just a thought – I wonder how much the comments of Petit and Ljunberg had a part to play in galvanising and motivating the teams’ efforts yesterday. I’m sure Wenger did his Churchillian best and probably Pat R too but scathing comments from past stars were bound to play a part. At last a performance we can all be proud of- long may it continue.

Of the chasing pack I noted that Liverpool failed to beat a Championship side, even after 120 minutes what chance do they have of a 4th place finish? Not a lot I think!

    Happy Days!

  49. lee says:

oh dear, sky sports 1 on in the office at the moment!!….re-run of the game!! BEAUTIFUL!!!

  50. devilgunner says:

Wavy……..wonder how much the comments of Petit and Ljunberg had a part to play in galvanising and motivating the teams’ efforts yesterday. I’m sure Wenger did his Churchillian best and probably Pat R too but scathing comments from past stars were bound to play a part……………

………that is why it is important that we have ex players running the club. Even on board level. They transmit the power and feeling for the club down to the under 9′s. Beckenbauer at Bayern is an example. We need an ex player as a chairman plus one or two board members. Even on the coaching staff, especially with the youths. The club will be in much safer hands.

So if you wonder how much their comments had a part to play I would say ……… 1 million %

  51. Rokabox says:

    Moooooorning HH,
still hung over of joy and ecstasy.
what a game, what a come back, missed all the banter on the hh though,

all the players deserve a big round of applause for their effort after the welsh monkey great dive, team GB should be alerted there is a gold one here for London2012.

Agree with what said about song, his performance affects the team, he was very determined after we conceded the 1st goal, and you could see he was roaring on the deflated players, well hardly roaring but you got the picture.
All the midfield played extremely well with a lot of passion. and to add the icing on the cake, wenger didn’t mention his ” mental strength” catchphrase after that.

    happy days!!!

  52. Billboy says:

Damn. You stole my comment about a DVD.

Roasted Chicken and spuds for dinner last night. Lovely!

How totally unsurprising that the media ignored a blatant dive by Bale. A darling of theirs just couldn’t do such a thing. FFS, what are they like?

Got to go out and meet a Spurs mate. We were supposed to meet up at eleven but I asked him if he could make it five to.LOL.

  53. devilgunner says:

Careful Billboy. Do not take lasagna as starters. Otherwise the chicken will not be delicious.

  54. Potter says:

    It’s not a chicken .I am from Norfolk , I know a TURKEY when I see one.

  55. Scott from Oz says:

We really need to back this effort up at Anfield.
Actually,we will talk about that later.
Let’s wallow in the splendour of victory for a while longer.

  56. rico says:

Sky Sports in the office Lee, enjoy :)

Got the gas man here :(

    He’s a chelsea fan, shame, rather hoped he’d be a tott!! ;)

  57. devilgunner says:

I have to be honest. Even at 5-2 up and feeling euphoric I was telling dad that I hope we do not fuck it all up in the dying minutes. I was telling pa that I was not feeling at ease until that clown in black blew the final whistle.

We have ballsed it up so much in the past that it will take a long time before old woulds are healed.

And also……I am one of the AW bashers. I liked him as a coach but the events of the last few years have made me question some of his decisions. And I will continue to do so.

The game yesterday went a good way to healing old wounds (like the 8-2 mauling) and doubts but others linger on. Every win against the scum from the slum is enjoyable and to batter them is unsarpassable but one swallow does not make a summer and AW has a lot to prove from now till the end of the season. Stealing 3rd place from that lot would make it sweeter but it does not atone for the 18 points we lost against weaker teams who we should have beaten easily. Add 18 points we lost carelessly to the amount we have and see where that puts us………….a point ahead of shittie.

  58. Billboy says:

    HI Potter,
I thought Turkeys were big. This looked like a puny little bantam puffed up by the shop manager to look a lot better than it really was.

  59. Scott from Oz says:

Devil, one swallow doesnt make a summer, which is exactly the reason I support Wenger.
People are too quick to forget what he’s done over such a long period of time for the club.
Anyway, they must go on with it.
I agree that it would have been bloody ordinary for them to score a late one.
Even though we didn’t,we certainly were much more likely, and it easily could have been 7 or 8.

  60. Billboy says:

Shouldn’t trust those spivs, I remember flash Harry from the old St Trinians films. Showing my age. Is it five to yet?

  61. alan b'stard M P says:

Good effort. However still only 3 points but enough to place us above Chelski on GD. Spurs only 7 points in front of us. Let’s hope they can bugger it up a couple of more times and let’s hope we don’t

  62. alan b'stard M P says:

a draw between totts & Manure will be good, so long as we keep winning

  63. rico says:

    Hi Billboy, Rokabox and alan…

devil, that made me chuckle, i was sat thinking we need another, and the score was 5-2 – only at 89 mins did i rest easy, even though deep down i knew we were going to win – they had nothing to threaten us with …

  64. devilgunner says:

Agreed Scott. That is the pity that we did not go for the 6th, 7th or 8th. It could and most probably should have meant an end to the scum from the slum. It would have dealt them a major blow from which they would never recover.

Regarding the swallow its there I do not agree. We have been going with this for the last 6 years. Good players going out, bad results, stubborness, lies and spin. Yes we do remember what AW has done. But we want honesty and transparency. We want winners. We do not expect 50 or 60 million signings. that would be outrageous. But we do want hard working players. Give me Parlour any day of the week. He may not have had the skill of some of the players we have now but he more than made up for it with his determination.

So Scott, AW did a lot to AFC, but for now he has to prove himself again that he is up to reviving the fortunes of AFC.

I wish him every success and maybe a whole season of Played 38 Won 38. But YES he has to prove it again and again. Dont we all do so in our life everyday?? He is not different to us.

  65. devilgunner says:

Where the hell is Sir AK today??? He should be here to celebrate!!!!!

  66. Tody says:

Ha jokes- enjoy your day girls, you’ve got to have something to cheer about. RVP 50% of your goals- wow. Now, if he goes walkies in the summer…………I don’t even want to think what will happen to you girls. Anyway, 7 points adrift. Like my arse mates used to say- where are you in the league? That’s good enough for me. Looks like we could have saved Wenger which might not be a bad thing after all. Oh yeah and finally, all you two faced fans- ‘walcott is sh*t bla bla’ then a standing ovation for the guy. Fickle comes to mind. I wonder how empty that stadium would be if you were in 10th- you arse fans are the same as the chavs. Anyway, I can’t hang about on here too long so just know if you reply to me I won’t be reading it. Have a good day girls. See you in May, it will be your Europa day!

  67. lee says:

Devil, apparently AK was last seen wearing his 1970′s Arsenal shirt in a curry house in Kent!!

  68. W.A.T.H says:

You might like this…… See Frim at the back going dilly….. At last a few players with passion….

  69. devilgunner says:

Hmmmmmmm. Must ave overindulged himself then and is suffering a curry hangover.

  70. rico says:

Devil, AK is off to the big city for a few days…

Welcome Tody, the only valid point you make is MAY, and you are right, that is what counts, we’ll wait and see who is in Europa shall we, I know I will before ‘bragging’…

Right now though, all that matters is that we spanked your lot good and proper, and considering you sit 3rd, you certainly din’t play like you deserve to be there!!

  71. rico says:

lee – re your 11.14, just love that…

Morning Wath…. good old Frimps, what a guy…

  72. lee says:

Tody, crawl back under your stone! Forever in our shadow!!

  73. W.A.T.H says:

  74. devilgunner says:

  77. lee says:

it’s the GG intake you want to know Devil…..

  78. devilgunner says:

Typical Yid….Tody. you dont even have the decency to wait for the answers. go and wipe the shit you are starting to fart from your arse seeing that you are already scared.

Did you see Rico? I told you that if you mention the name of the scum from the slum we would have them over here. I enjoy bashing a few heads.

  79. devilgunner says:

GG??? what is that? GORGONZOLA????

  80. rico says:

Ironic that MOTD started in Black and White, must have been just for the Yids, thats when they were last winning anything, in B&W …..

  81. W.A.T.H says:

Grey Goose Dev, I think I had a bottle and that was after several whiskeys as a few pubs didn’t have GG most depressed I was…

Alright Lee ;-) Hol Rd was bouncing after the game yesterday so 2 FP….. pretty festive all round really…!

  82. devilgunner says:

BDW guys. Can you find the answers for the following???

what do we celebrate in September 2013???

what do we celebrate in May 2015???

what do we celebrate in September 2019???

  83. rico says:

I knew it would get a few on devil, always does but can’t be arsed with them tbh….

Mind you, not as many as i thought, must be licking their wounds… ;)

  84. W.A.T.H says:

Vermin normally vanishes when you give em a good beating…..!

  85. rico says:

just watching the game again, just how good was Rosicky’s goal, made the pass to sagna, carried on running and the finish was just incdredible….

what a game that guy had…..

  86. rico says:

    devil ??

  87. devilgunner says:

You can rightly say that that was the best game TR07 has had in AFC colours. He was everywhere. Maybe Cesc was stifling him. His injuries holding him back. Too many square pegs in round holes from AW. We had Cesc, Nasri, Rosicky, Hleb, Ramsey. All play in the hole behind the striker. But EVERYONE bar Cesc and Ramsey were shafted to the wings so that they could come in. The result……getting overcrowded.

  88. devilgunner says:

    So here goes……

September 2013 is100 years from the opening of Highbury Stadium

May 2015 is 100 years from the last time we saw the lower division

September 2019 100 years in the elite division

  89. devilgunner says:

what will the scum from the slum celebrate in May 2013???

5-2 years since their last league championship.

  90. rico says:

    devil, nice stats ….

  91. devilgunner says:

I will make a small bet with you Rico. If St Toteringham’s day happens this season I guess that the day after you will surpass 600 comments.

  92. W.A.T.H says:

Dev, big weekend coming up… if they lose and we don’t lose the tide could turn and we could well indeed catch them, if they lose and we happen to nick a win then it could really be game on…! will their bottle go…? time will tell…. we need to fight for each other and play like we did yesterday from now til the end of the season…! Nothing but that is good enough…! All i ask for is commitment and to show fighting spirit..!

  93. lee says:

WATH, I thought you were going to start your “we will fight them on the beaches” speech!! ;)

  94. rico says:

You could be right devil, but we need a win at anfield before i even think about that day ;)

  95. rico says:

Wath, the mancs will batter them without Scott Parker ;)

Totally agree though, play like we did yesterday until the end of the season and we could get 3rd… Anything els and we could easily get 6th…..

  96. W.A.T.H says:

Can’t fight em if you can’t find em Lee….. ;-)

  97. rico says:

    No RvP for Anfield either…….

  98. W.A.T.H says:

I thought I gave a rousing half time speech yesterday Lee, you’d of been proud of me mate… grown men with tears in their eyes… I got a standing ovation in the pub….! ;-)

  99. devilgunner says:

The league is tight Rico. But yesterday’s win shows just how much this team can achieve with the right mentality and work as one.

We need to stick together. Do that and we dream.

Before that the small matters of the remaining 12 league games plus the champions league return at the Emirates.

  100. rico says:

You guys seen the breaking news about how much money we made in the last six months ……

Best they get on and spend some of it in the summer ….

  101. W.A.T.H says:

Who says no RVP Rico have you confirmed that ??? I thought it moved to 8 bookings after Nov…. ?!?!?!?

  102. rico says:

re tax – £49.5 million in six months prior to nov 2011!

  103. devilgunner says:

No RVP for the game at Anfield. That means that either Chamack or Theo will be centreforward. Maybe the OX will start.

  104. rico says:

    £115.2 Million in turnover….

  105. W.A.T.H says:

So all those figures from AST last week were pretty much spot on…!!

  106. devilgunner says:

Righto mates. I am off. Maybe later on today.

A great post Rico. And a big hug to you for that title.

cu ya all. been very nice today.

    Laters.

  107. W.A.T.H says:

Cheers Dev, take it easy mate…..

  108. rico says:

Ah, good point Wath, and it clears from the ist jan, so i am prob wrong – someone mentioned it here yesterday…

    Phew, huge sigh of relief…..

  109. devilgunner says:

off to ruffle some more cockerel feathers.

  110. rico says:

    Enjoy devil ;)

  111. rico says:

Thanks re the post devil, you enjoy your day ;)

  112. rico says:

Fulham have signed M. Diarra from Real Madrid, good signing….

  113. Billboy says:

    devilgunner,

I make that April 1915 for thelast game in division 2. 24th to be precise. A 7-0 win over Nottingham Forest. My Aunt Minnie never stopped talking about it as it was her first game! (watching, not playing – she was too young to play at only 11).

  114. W.A.T.H says:

Could be a cunning signing that of Diarra, used to be a top player, would have been good as back up for us in midfield as a hard man…!

    Oh well….!

  115. rico says:

Just what I was thinking Wath….

  116. rico says:

Arsenal Holdings plc – Financial results

    * Group profit before tax was £49.5 million (2010 – loss of £6.1 million)

    * Profit on sale of player registrations amounted to £63.0 million (2010 – £4.0 million)

    * £74.7 million of investment in new players and extended contracts pushed amortisation charges up to £17.3 million (2010 – £10.1 million)

    * The resulting profit from player trading was £46.1 million (2010 – loss of £5.9 million)

    * Turnover from football rose to £113.5 million (2010 – £97.6 million) with increases from match-day (four additional games played) and commercial income streams

    * Operating profits (before depreciation and player trading) from football increased to £15.2 million (2010 – £9.4 million)

    * Period of minimal activity, as expected, in the property business with turnover of £3.2 million (2010 – £22.5 million) and operating profits of £0.5 million (2010 – £3.3 million)

    * Group has no short-term debt and continues to have a solid financial platform from cash reserves of £115.2 million (2010 – £110.4 million).

Commenting on the results for the six months, Peter Hill-Wood, non-executive Chairman, said:

“We are proud of Arsenal’s record and consistency over many seasons and have the foundations in place, at every level of the Club, to ensure we remain a force in the seasons ahead.”

  117. lee says:

    wath/rico check your inboxes!!

  118. lee says:

“period of minimal activity” err…. every transfer window???

  119. rico says:

    lee, classic….

  120. rico says:

    * Profit on sale of player registrations amounted to £63.0 million (2010 – £4.0 million)

So we are a selling club :(

  121. rico says:

Rosicky has been ruled out of playing for his country…. good, now we need to get RvP to follow, stupid friendlies….

  122. rico says:

Im off out with Fido, back in a bit….

  123. W.A.T.H says:

That’s like the first game in about 18 matches we have won since Dean has been the ref….. He f’kin hates us…..!

  124. agirlagunner says:

Boo!! rico, I think this is one of your best match reports. ;) Great results equal a great write, eh? :D

I could watch this match again, again, and ever again. :)

Hi, Lee! Welcome back. Howdy?? Hola, WATH, bet you enjoyed that! Mind your poor liver! ;)

  125. agirlagunner says:

Mike Dean has always been suspect. Grrr.

  126. Merlin96 says:

    S*CUMS 2 goals?

I think the main culprit is Gibbs.

For the 1st goal, he was jogging back with Saha in front of him; and did not closed him down fast enough..as if he is out of breath after sprinting into opponent half.

Lack of tactical awareness as Gibbs simply lack that instinct to spot danger as TV5 was keeping to danger in front of him and expecting Gibbs to cover the left-flank behind him…

Just watch that replay which shown Gibbs jogging back slowly and was out of posiiton when S*CUMS’ attack satrted devleoping.

    2nd Goal?
Gibbs lacks upper body strength and was easily shoke off the ball by Bales.

    Walcott?
This boy needs serious iron pumping in the summer to buildup his upper body strength like Bales and get Bales’ physique as well!
I beleive the more you play Walcott in the central posiiton, the more rapid will be his devleopment into a lethal central striker like Michael Owens.

Yesterday match just proved what ails Walcott for the past 2 seasons:
    Lack of confidence.

DO you notice that in the first 20 minutes, Walcott behaved as if he was scared stiff to shoot even when half chance was presented to him…and always looking to pass or square the ball to Van Persie?

I think it was the first 15 minutes when Walcott was cleared to goal with Van Persie sprinting on his left….and instead of behaving like a central striker with a clear run at goal..he elected to look at Van Persie and attempted to square a pass to him..instead of following his natural instinct of a central striker by sprinting towards goal and to decide where to place the shot.

A confident Walcott with newly discovered self-belief and playing more centrally will start popping in goals regularly now.

There si where communicaiton and understanding between Captain Van Persie and Walcott are extremely important in the development of Walcott; with Van Persie chipping in plenty of assists for Walcott, plus adding more and more as a decoy to free up Walcott to run directly at defence.

This will inject a massive element of unpredictability into our attacks with opponents dare not put 2 or 3 defenders marking Van Persie with a lethal Walcott free to roam at right flank and cut into the centre with deadly effects as yesterday.

Now..if Rosicky, Benyaoun and Gervinho start chipping in the odd goals regularly…….

Then in this attacking 4-3-3, it will attain very closely the ideal ratio of goals tally of 40% to 50% contributed by attacking midfielders and DCM, with our lethal strikeforce contributing at least 40% of the goal tally.

Pray that yesterday was not a flash in the pan, with our senior players only turning up for “big games” and then revert to mediocrity in the very next game against Bottom half teams.

Thanks to all Football Gods that our very next game is against Liverpool which will certainly cause this team to maintain focus without any complacency.

Nothing like siege mentality and “back to the wall” feeling to galvanise this bunch of underachievers to come out battling, swinging and snarling to rescue this dismal season.

  127. agirlagunner says:

Great comment Merlin. I certainly hope yesterday is this season’s watershed moment for Theo. As fantastic as his two goals were, he has much to prove. Same goes for Chamakh; I do not know of a player who has been so shorn of confidence; he is no RvP, but he can do a job; he just needs to find his shooting boots.

Interviews of RvP and Sagna say everything. they knew this was a “fight” and that the Spuds were the “enemy”. Sagna’s unwittingly funny.

  128. Joaquim Moreira says:

    hello!
It was just 3 points. Nothing more. We need another victory at anfield with or without RVP for keep in faith and attack with motivation last three months of the season.

  129. agirlagunner says:

Hi, Rokabox. :) That sums it up quite nicely!

JM, you’re no fun! :P But you’re right, we need a return to winning ways and consistency and motivation are key. :)

  130. W.A.T.H says:

No JM is wasnt just 3 points mate is was stuffing the yids……………!!

Evening AGAG, don’t worry abt my liver it’s well lubricated…!

  131. rico says:

Evening guys and gals, thanks agag :)

  132. agirlagunner says:

Boo, WATH. No less than what we expect. :P Liver’s over-lubricated, I think. I hope you took the day off!

    Where is everybody?

  133. W.A.T.H says:

Oh i did indeed take the day off years of practice AGAG and experience tells me to always take the day off a NLD…… it wasn’t pretty last night that’s for sure copious amounts of liquids were consumed..!

  134. agirlagunner says:

Hi, rico! :) Enjoyed your walk? Still on a high, I bet.

  135. rico says:

    Flying agag, just flying :P

  136. rico says:

My favourite line in the post

Actually, do swamp dwellers bath?? ;)

  137. agirlagunner says:

WATH, is there ever a time when you don’t consume GG in copious amounts?? ;) :D

rico, now Theo must find that sort of authority every game now. ;)

  138. lee says:

thought it would of been busy busy on here today….the yids in the office can’t wait for me to go home…i keep screaming out at the top of my voice everytime it’s 5 mins before the hour, what’s the time yiddos?!!! Everyone joining in… 5-2!!!!

  139. rico says:

Totally agree re Theo agag, we know what he can do, now he has to do that more often, same could be said of Rosicky really and Song…

Great to see Sagna back to his best and apart from the first goal, Gibbs did pretty well considering how long he’s been out…

  140. W.A.T.H says:

I drink extra copious amounts when we beat the sheenies AGAG…..

    It’s worth it………….

Always nice to wind ppl up at work Lee….. Nice to put em back in their place…!

  141. lee says:

imagine if it had been the other way round….fck em, i’m letting have both barrels still, schlaggs!!

  142. agirlagunner says:

Lee, what an enjoyable day you must be having.

If their own performance does not inspire them, what will? Seen photos of Szcz hugging the ballboy after the fifth goal. You can see from the reaction of the young ‘uns (Pingpong, Lansbury, Wilshere) in photos and tweets that they know what NLDs are all about. :) :)

  143. rico says:

lee, that’s funny, both barrels indeed, they certainly wouldn’t hold back…

Thought it would be busier here too but i guess every gooner is on the spuds blogs today ;)

  144. rico says:

You know i still wonder whether Petit made his comments on purpose, comments which were followed by AW telling the team to ram Petits comments back at him…

Has AW and Petit been in contact? Is Petit going to be the man to replace Pat Rice??

    Just a thought….

  145. lee says:

i couldn’t bring myself to go on one of their bogs (deliberate typo)….i’d rather gnaw my own arm off!

  146. lee says:

lets hope he opens his mouth up ahead of the mickey mousers game! ;)

  147. rico says:

Nah, me neither, wouldn’t waste my time, i have nicked one of your pictures for tomorrow lee ;)

    very applicable typo…..

  148. rico says:

We need him to slate us before every game from now in, if it gets results like yesterday…

seriously though Petit as AW’s new assistant??

Not my choice, but does make me wonder, what with Paddy at Citeh and all that….

  149. lee says:

WATH and few others summed it up a while back, by saying we need proper Arsenal people around the club…TA, MK, DB etc!!!!!!

  150. lee says:

wonder how Rocky’s train journey will be tonight??

  151. rico says:

I agree – my choice would be Keown or Bould, get the arsenal back into arsenal…

get it back into the squad too, ram home just what this club is all about and how honoured they should be to wear the shirt…..

what i liked seeing yesterday was the way certain players celebrated the goals, especially the goal scorers themselves, they didn’t want to lose that game, not one bit!

  152. lee says:

i’m outta here catch you fine folk later… it is 5-2!!

  153. W.A.T.H says:

Why would any self respecting Arsenal fan go on a yid site….? I could not lower myself even to go and take the piss…!

Proper Arsenal people on the coaching staff and at least 1/2 on the board and a proper Arsenal man as President (figurehead) FM would be a great choice…!

  154. rico says:

wonderful i suspect, thought he’d be here today, and SteveP…

  155. rico says:

Laters lee, safe journey, ‘mind the gap’ on the tube ;)

  156. DutchGooner10 says:

    Goon afternoon,

Hiya Lee good to have you back witty and sharp. Bog: spongy ground with soil composed mainly of decayed vegetable matter. :P :P

Favorite of the day.. though it’s a nose finish with many ” Best team in 50 yrs beaten by worst team in 15 yrs.” Thumbs up.

    Hiya Agag, WATH.

Rico Slam DUNKING FUNKY post. Harlem Globetrotting worthy. Now, were was tonguetied Stan??

    Off for dinner. Laters faithful.

  157. rico says:

FM back at arsenal, now you are talking Wath….

You know, if Wenger got Bould/Keown in as his assistant and listened to them and they worked together and bought the right players, i wouldn’t care if Wenger stayed…

Sadly though, that is a massive ‘IF’

  158. rico says:

Hi DG, enjoy dinner and catch you in a bit….

  159. agirlagunner says:

Hi and bye Dutch! :) ;) Bye, Lee! rico “we need him to slate us…” Haha. Got the desired results. I don’t mind. ;) WATH, just tea for you today!! :P

    Good night, friends!!

  160. Adam says:

Hi Rico and all. Just back from a heavy day’s writing after a really amazing day yesterday. I never saw that one coming particularly with Benny and Rosicky in midfield. But a couple of points! Are Tottenham not one of the most dishonest teams in the PL? I have never seen such a bunch of over-acting, ref-harassing players in my life. Every tackle is followed by rolling around feigning injury and appeals to the referee for sterner action. Parker was a sending-off waiting to happen. His over the top stamp is his standard tackle and watching him trying to get someone, anyone sent off after the penalty was particularly galling. And of course there is Bale. I read today that he is the only PL player to be booked more than once for simulation this season and he was at it recently when I saw him at Man City. Hurling himself through the air in anticipation of someone touching him and sitting there, arms outstretched, prehensile simian jaw extended in a totally bogus and dishonest appeal to the ref and he was at it again yesterday. That was no penalty. When Glenn Hoddle says it wasn’t a penalty for Spurs then you had better believe it. But consider if Mike Dean had sent of Chesney like he could have. All because of appallingly bad sportsmanship of the most dishonest and cowardly kind. Even some Spurs websites have criticised him today and that says everything. But was it highlighted anywhere? I would like the FA to ban him for 3 or 4 games because he is affecting results and is a very distasteful individual indeed. If he was Spanish or French the papers would have pilloried him by now.

  161. rico says:

Nighty agag, another night of good sleep i am sure :)

  162. rico says:

    Hi Adam

Top comment – i still cannot believe how the media have not lambasted Bale for his dive, even gary neville said ‘he was looking for the penalty’ and he doesn’t care too much for us either…

i read a few of the spurs blogs last night and even their own fans said that they wished he’d stop diving…

Now that does say it all……

  163. DutchGooner10 says:

And the Oscar for best Script Writing goes to…………… Rico. *Standing ovation, close up, teary eyes, triumphant music, swinging spotlights, climbs the stairs on Jimmy Woo pins, swallows the frog, fumbles a speech paper*

I like to thank my woofie and abuse the opportunity; PEOPLE BUY UNSPRAYED VEGGIES. Thank you Hitchcock for teaching me the ropes. * :P thrusts the muscled golden nudity above her head *

  164. rico says:

DG, you been on the Vino ;) ;)

  165. DutchGooner10 says:

    Cabernet Sauvignon ;)

  166. devilgunner says:

    I am heeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!

    Evening fine folks.

Did any of you lot ruffle some more feathers??? Or better still castrated some cockerels?? You know…..turn them into EUNUCHS??

Has AW and Petit been in contact? Is Petit going to be the man to replace Pat Rice??

    Just a thought….

If AW does that I will be in stratosphere with delight. Just ask Sir AK what that means to me.

  167. W.A.T.H says:

Did that AGAG tell me to drink only tea….. is she demented….. Am on my 2nd bottle of red………… I’m on holiday AGAG one must drink wine its medicinal….!

As for monkey head Bale he fits in well with the vermin….! Utterly pathetic that the media have not slaughtered him for diving but ain’t that typical…!

  168. W.A.T.H says:

I take it you’d like Manu back at the club then Dev…..?

  169. DutchGooner10 says:

WATH most mental enormity has to be Dean’s celebrations at 0-1. Like Adam says he should be banned by the FA.

  170. rico says:

You like Petit then devil ;)

  171. rico says:

Hi SD – you don’t want Manu then ;)

DG, not only Dean, he is just one of quite a few….

Dinner calls, back in a mo….

  172. W.A.T.H says:

DG, as i said earlier Dean always tries his very best to stitch us up, can’t stand the prick…!

  173. DutchGooner10 says:

WATH at least it’s blatantly obvious for all to see now. It use to be by cloak and dagger in obscurity. Hate the mug as well.

    Rico Bon appetite.

  174. Lee says:

Can anyone help, I’m stuck on a crossword clue ; Jewish football team, 2 up 5 down….???

  175. SD-London says:

Apart from the celebration, and missed Bale’s dive , Dean had a good all round game.

  176. DutchGooner10 says:

    Try YIELDER Lee. ;)

  177. allezkev says:

    Evening All You Happy Gooners…

The media(papers) just don’t like us , they reported , featured, discussed and analysed how Spurs may be the next king of the north London derby all week.

But to my dismay this morning , our win didn’t even make the back pages.

    Who cares ? I don’t.
Come on you Gunners and put Liverpool to their place as well , just Remember the disgrace they gave us at the emirates at the beginning of the season.

RVP remind the other players as you reminded them of the Spurs beating us earlier in the season.

Give us something to remember and remind the media that we are fourth not by accident.

  207. Merlin96 says:

    Theo Walcott?

I always slagged him for being mentally weak, fragile, invariably fell down at the slightest of a slight shoulder charge or bodycheck and easily kicked out of the game.

He looked a Goner during the first 20 minutes, apprehensive, blind alley runner and simply lack a football brain to know “when to cross when he should shoot or shoot when he should cross”.

it was as if he utterly lack confidence and shirked his responsbility as a goal-getter to shoot more frequent at goal. As if the “boo-boys” had gone under his skin and prefer the safer option to always looking to pass on or square or cross the ball to Van Persie so that he can’t be blamed by the “boo-boys” for failing to score.

Theo’s thinking was “as long as I don’t shoot at goal, the boo-boys will not blame me for missing, right?”

In hindsight, after all this euphoria and exhilaration of winning 5-2, one must again quesiton Theo Walcott’s mentality and development.

What if the score is still 0-2 or 1-2 or even 2-2 when we all our chasing the winner?
Will Theo has the moral courage to shoot as he did for the two goals?

Or like he did in the first first 15-minutes when he was clean through, and instead of running directly to goal like a central striker, he behaved more like an attacking midfielder alwasy looking to square the ball to the ‘Lone Striker”? Just watch that DVD again and you can see Theo’s first instinct was looking left-ward to pass to Van Persie instead of assuming the responsibility to run flat-out at goal and attempt to score or to square the ball to Van Persie for a simple tpa-in inside the 6-yard box…..certainly not at what he did by running a few yards onyl and then attempt to square the ball through 2 or 3 defenders in line with him.

In retrospect, when we were leading 3-2, it gave confidence to Theo to shoot at goal; and to run directly at defenders as he can; just thta he is shor of confidence and his self-belief shattered by so many countless set-backs and niggling injuries for teh past 2 to 3 years……while concurrently trying to learn hsi role as right-attacking midfielder in an unsettled team changing players in virtually every game.

    One swallow does not make a summer;
Three swallows merely signal the advent of summer.

And now, we need Theo to move on and fulfil his potential in the next 2 games.
What bigger stage than to score at Anfield and goes on rampant against a “catenaccio” AC Milan side at Emirates then?

The making of Theo is when he single-handed dragged the game by the scruff of irs neck and turning a losing cause into a winner. That will settle all doubts as to to hsi potential and proved once and fro all that Arsene Wenger still has it in him to nurture and grow an apprehensive and tentative youngster into another deadly English striker, a 20+ goal-getter this season and 30+ goal-getter next season.

Let’s hope come April 2012, Theo Walcott had fulfilled his potential that Arsene Wenegr saw in him when he joined Arsenal in 2006.

  208. allezkev says:

Lee, thanks for the emails. I can’t download them [ pictures ] on this rubbish Samsung phone. But keep sending them. I’ll have a look when i get home Sunday night.

  209. allezkev says:

If Arsenal were to put Theo up for sale, we might all be suprised by the amount of interest in him and the clubs who may want to sign him?!
Theo is a bit of an enigma. There is, possibly, a great footballer inside him, trying to emerge from someone lacking in confidence. All i hope, is that he eventually fulfills his potential in an Arsenal shirt.

  210. allezkev says:

And on that note, i shall bid you all goodnight.
Don’t know what timezone your on Merlin?
But mine says time to sleep.

Morning Lee. Give those Yids hell mate. Make’em suffer. :-)

  211. Merlin96 says:

    Kev,
    Good morning!

    Rico,

    here is a tid-bit.

Ivan Gazidis, Arsenal’s incoming chief executive who takes up his new role in January is considering renegotiating the club’s kit sponsorship deals with Nike and Emirates as Gazidis believes that other clubs are getting much more money out of their kit deals.

Arsenal’s £6m-per-year shirt sponsorship deal with Emirates, which runs until 2014 and its £8m-per-year deal with Nike, until 2011 are much smaller than Manchester United’s agreement with AIG, which is worth £56.5m over four years.

Chelsea’s main sponsorship deals are with shirt sponsor Samsung, worth £50m over 5 years, and Adidas, with a £10m-per-year deal after paying Umbro £24.5m to end an existing deal in 2005.

Former managing director Keith Edelman, signed the long-term deals with Emirates and Nike at a time when the club was urgently trying to raise finance for its new stadium, for which airline Emirates has a 15-year naming rights deal.

Any news on our new shirt sponsorship contract as it seemed that our deal with Nike had expired in 2011!!!

    testing..testing the formating….

It is notable that from 2000/01 to 2009/10, the Top-10 football clubs are virtually unchanged and presumably by 2011/12 season, Manchester City will be ranked within the Top-10 football clubs in term of revenues. (Abu Dhabi City figure is from 2007/08 season)
A nice contrast amongst the Top-6 from 2006/07 to 2010/11 is tabulated below:
Revenues increase from 2006 to 2009/10 in €-million
    ………….. 2010/11 … 2006/07 ….. Increase
    Man U …… 367.0 …… 315.2 ….. +51.8 … +16%
    Arsenal ….. 251.1 …… 263.9 ….. – 12.8 … – 5%
    Chelsea …. 249.8 …… 283.0 ….. – 33.2 … – 11%
    Liverpool … 203.3 …… 198.9 ….. +04.5 … + 2%
    S*CUMS … 181.0 …… 153.1 ….. +27.9 … +18%
    Abu Dhabi .. 169.6 …… 104.0 ….. +65.9 … + 63%

This is a preview of an article I am preparing on the “underperformance” of PHW, Wenger, Gazidis & Co on not growing our commercial interests and brand-name globally.
