Arsenal Fans deserve everything they get! Finally, A player who puts Club before Country!

That’s it then, season over – well apart from the Champions League Final and I’m interested in that as much as I am watching paint dry!

Yep, I’ll watch it, in hope that neither side win 😉

Six seasons have now gone by without winning anything and it’s far too long for a club like ours, we all know that.

Next season it will all begin again, ‘Arsenal, who haven’t won anything in six years’ comments every time we play, and how we bottled the Carling Cup, how if we had added a quality centre half and goalkeeper we would have done so much better, how we faded in the last third of the season, blah blah blah…..

Well, now it truly is time to stop all this, stop feeding the media the lines they love to spout and there is only one group of people who can do that and that is the Arsenal Board, starting with Arsene Wenger.

I don’t think any of us hope in reality for a 50M player signing, Torres has been a good example of why spending that kind of money doesn’t always work. Yes, he may come good again next season and score 30 goals but he was bought in January and was meant to be the man to get the goals to win the Champions League and the Premier League, it didn’t work and now the manager who ‘bought him’ is out of a job. Personally, I think he was a Roman purchase, one that backfired badly.

In fact I think the most some fans have asked Wenger to spend on one player is £25M and that is to get Benzema, the striker seems to be the one most fans want us to sign. If I could pick one player to be our first signing of many, it would be a tossup between Gary Cahill and Ashley Young, hopefully we will buy both, and very soon.

So, back to the six years – Arsenal fans have stood by the club they love and by the manager who has been at the helm during those last six unsuccessful seasons but many are beginning to get restless.

Now is the time for change, the manager needs to change his ways in the transfer market, no Cygans or Silvestres, no Denilsons or Bischoffs, real players please, that’s all we ask for!

Personally, I am not precious about the name of the player he buys as long as whoever they are have heart, passion and commitment to play for our club and with pride.

We don’t need to sign players who demand a big wage; we need players who are prepared to earn whatever wage they are offered, players who will play hard and until the final whistle of every game.

No sulkers, no shirkers and no big egos thanks Wenger….

No, you go out there into the transfer market and finally buy players that Arsenal Fans deserve to see wearing the Red and White of the club!

Do that Arsene and finally the fans might just get what they deserve rather than having to suffer all the bad press about how we haven’t won anything for so long and how we lack ‘what it takes’ to be winners..

After all, it’s been six years of waiting…….

Finally, how good is to know we have a player who is putting his club before his country?

He cared that we didn't win......

It was confirmed yesterday that Jack Wilshere will get a good rest during the summer. Pearce had this to say:

I spoke to Jack last week and he explained that while he told me in March that he wanted to be part of the squad, he now feels he is not in the best condition to take part in the finals.

That is based on the number of games he has played for Arsenal this season, sports science data which Jack was presented with last week and concerns he has for his fitness looking ahead to next season.

We already knew Mr Pearce, but thanks for confirming it!

Well done Jack, he’s listened to Wenger, he listened to others but most importantly, he has listened to his body and realised that if he played during the coming summer he would probably miss the beginning of next season for his club, a club that means so much to him!

That’s what you get from a proper Arsenal man Arsene, a player who puts his club before his country!…..

Pre-season will see us travel to Malaysia in July to play in two matches  – the first is against Malaysia XI at the Bukit Jalil Stadium, Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday, July 13, kick off 8.45pm local time.  The second fixture is to be confirmed.

Asia here we come then, has to be better than Austria……

    Hi G4L,

Playing for your country is always special but playing for the under 21’s is surely a step backwards in his career and in any case, why risk his body..

I don’t agree about 6 years being too long for a club like ours, it’s acceptable, but what isn’t, is the way it’s happened.

It’s the fact that we SHOULD have won something during this time, we’ve had so many opportunities and fluffed them, and you never know when you’ll hit that period when it becomes impossible to win anything (though some would argue that this is our period).

    May 24, 2011 at 10:16am

Good comment G4L, but, since Jens retired we have always seemed to be a keeper away from winning, since Sol left, we have always had a weakness in the defence and since Paddy left, we have always played without a true leader…

Just little things like that make a difference between winning things and losing them. We have fluffed the PL twice, this season and back in the gallas sulk era…

    Morning all.

I will only believe that we are seriously with a chance to win the 2011/12 title if he abandoned his delusion on signing unknown French players and players from the French league, and expect ’em to play the English game like Vieira, Henry, Pires and Anelka….or Cantona and Ginola and Desailly, Gallas…

What he is getting nowaday is bottlers like Nasri, Chamakh and Squillaci, with Koscielny showing potential only but we will never know how he will develop next season.

How many will he intended to sign form this list:

    1 – Scott Parker
2 – Ashley Young (on last year of his Villa contract)
    3 – Jones (Blackburn)
    4 – Samba (Blackburn)
    5 – Cahill (Bolton)
    6 – Jakeilka (Everton)
7 – Hines (WHU)? Noble (WHU)?

We need experienced premiership players to help us overcoming that perennial November Blip when destriers are needed to slug it out on muddy pitch and trench warfare…not dainty circus show horses only good playing on billaird-flat and perfectly lawned grass pitches.

We need “Leaders” and a “Eric Cantona” catalyst to transform these bunch of talented youngsters with vast potential into a compact and hungry title-winning teams like Fergie Fledgings.

Captain Van Persie can’t carry the load alone…he needs help. Season end indicated Van Persie commitment to the Cause, hate to lose and fough to the very alst second. Perhaps appointing him as Captain brought out the Leadership quality in him, increased his work-rate and willing to be an example to the youngsters on the pitch.

Even if Fabregas stays, releiv ehim of the captaincy and the burden of leading the team which he cna’t do as he is not that type of elader that Arsenal FC wanted…but Van Persie is that kind fo Captain and leader missing since Cesc was appointed Captain just to make him sweet and stay with Arsenal.

    My wishes for 2011/12 season:
1 – Van Persie as Captain
2 – Fabregas remains and deep to help him to develop as a complete midfield general. Fabregas is superb as a deep-lying playmaker without 2 or 3 players marking him tight when he is high-up as an attacking mdifielder.
3 – Let Wilshere or Ramsey plays in front of Cesc. A fresh WIlshere and Ramsey can only improve from 2010/11 form.

4 – Get Scott Parker and/or another DCM, a no-nonsense hulky DCM that get in tough and dirty. Parker is that catalyst that will help in the development of SOng, Frimpong, Coquelin, Lansbury and Hendrson…and even Aneke.

5 – Get Jones or Samba or Cahill or Jakeila and 1 or 2 British CB to provide that “Biritsh Grits” to stabilise our defend.

Arsenal team is just short of 3 or 4 players to make it a great team in 2011/12 season.

Will Wenger’s philosophy in palyer transfer undergoes an extreme makeover this summer?

Hope for the best but fearing the worse.

Emirates Cup 2011 will see Arsenal joined by MLS side New York Red Bulls, who currently boast Gunners’ legend Thierry Henry in their ranks, leading French club Paris Saint-Germain and Club Atlético Boca Juniors – the most successful Argentine and South American club of all time.

We know of 2 players almost certainly leaving, dudnilson and Bendy with hopefully the waiter, Rosicknote and the hopeless Diaby.
I’d very much like (but don’t expect to see) Wenger to go for Cahill and Baines, Kevin Nolan and possibly (forgive me here) Darren Bent who does seem to have worked out where the goal posts are. 4 players with a bit of guts and guile that will work hard and compliment the more stylish players around them just like Parlour used to.
By the way anyone with a better alternative to the in form Bent is welcome to put me right. :-)

    Morning all,
I have been thinking about the transfer window, and have been reading your comments of who’s on the move and who you would like to come in. I would just like to point out the most important thing, and that’s the money side. Now you all know we are not a club with great transfer funding, and I would suggest, that would be the first rule of thumb. So before any buying we have to sell. Who have we got that would give us the kind of money to buy the players we need. The denilsons and vella bentners are not going to produce fortunes and only perhaps buys one mediocre player, which means we have to sell stars, Fabregas valued at £30to£40 million buys a very good player Van Persie £25to £30 million also buys a very good player, and that is the realities we have to look at, sell two of our best and probably get four reasonable players. After all you have to speculate to accumulate.

I doubt Wenger will buy a striker as he said he had compelte faith in:

    1 – Van Persie
    2 – Theo Walcott
    3 – Chamakh
4 – Vela or his replacement, a new buy???
    5 – JET
    6 – Benik Afobe

Time to rotate Theo and Vela back to centre with Chamakh and JET providing height.

I beleive Wenger is not that daft and prefer to concentrate on his defence and use the money to extend Nasri’s and CLichy’s contract.

He may have “promsie” Cesc that if he sticks with us for one season, then he is free to sign for Barca after Euro 2012….instead of wasting hsi time sitting on the bench at BArca in 2011/12.

And hey, let’s nto forget Hleb which Wenegr may snap up on the cheap and offer him 2-year contract as a squad member…a nice alternative to Theo…and to keep Cesc sweet by signing his best pal.

Arsenal’s Andrey Arshavin is a cut-price £7million target for his former club Zenit St Petersburg.

Arsene Wenger is prepared to listen to offers for the Russian midfielder, but Arsenal may be reluctant to take such a big drop on a player signed for £12m just two years ago.

Arshavin, who turns 30 next week, is the biggest name in an expected summer clear-out at the club, with Nicklas Bendtner, Denilson, Abou Diaby, Carlos Vela, Emmanuel Eboue and Manuel Almunia also set to go. Gael Clichy will be sold too, unless he signs a new deal.

Udinese are also watching developments on Arshavin, while Sevilla, Roma and Wolfsburg are keen on Denilson who admitted: “The next few weeks will be decisive for my future.”

Real Madrid like Bacary Sagna, but Arsenal do not want to sell their right-back, who was in the Professional Footballers’ Association team of the season.

    SOURCE: Daily Mirror

It seems that Arsene Wenger has lost patience with some of his under performing stars and is willing to cash in on their services in order to re-invest in his Gunners squad.

Andrei Arshavin has had an up and mostly down season and at times has looked disinterested, as a result the Russian lost his place in the starting eleven amid speculation that the 29 year old may be homesick, a claim that the attacking midfielder has denied on several occasions.

Interest from his former employers at Zenit may however appeal to Arshavin and given his age it may be a move that Wenger considers allowing.

Abou Diaby’s continued inconsistency has become too much for Wenger and strikers Carlos Vela and Nicklas Bendtner are no nearer regular first team football than they were twelve months ago.

Manuel Almunia has dropped one to many clangers and the emergence of Wojciech Szczesny has rendered the Spaniard’s presence in the squad somewhat redundant, not least as Arsenal are apparently keen on bringing a experienced keeper as a starting keeper to keep the impressive young Pole on his toes.

Brazilian Denilson has already stated his intention to leave the club and a move to La Liga may be more likely than a move to Germany. Utility player Emmanuel Eboue will be sacrificed after some decidedly average displays.

There doesn’t appear to be a huge need for Arsene Wenger to sell players in order to accrue transfer funds given that Stan Kroenke is reportedly ready to bankroll significant moves in the summer transfer market.

Latest rumors – nothing new, no brainer as it is a rehash and compilation of what were circulating around CYperspace.

Hopefully, it will be like 1998 where Henry, Pires, Gilberto, Lauren came on-board….

If going by that trend, from 1997/98 to 2001/02, we may need to wait FOUR YEARS before we can win a piece of silverware and/or title!!!

Gael Clichy tells Arsenal he wants to leave with Inter and Bayern Munich leading chase

The Gunners’ French left-back is ready to turn down interest from English clubs and make a £5.5m move to the continent with a transfer to the Italian giants most likely

    24 May 2011 12:00:00

By Wayne Veysey | Chief Correspondent

Gael Clichy has told Arsenal that he wants to leave the club with Inter emerging as favourites to land his signature.

Bayern Munich are also understood to be pursuing the left-back, while Liverpool and Manchester City have both made approaches for the 25-year-old.

Clichy, who has a year left on his contract, has already turned down a new deal from Arsenal and told manager Arsene Wenger he is ready to pursue a move to a new club. Sources close to the France international believe a departure is now inevitable.

Inter have made their interest in Clichy clear to Arsenal and held informal talks with the player.

The Gunners are demanding a £5.5 million fee for their longest-serving player and will not stand in the way of a move, given that Clichy can move for free in 12 months’ time.

Should the Champions League holders meet the Gunners’ asking price then a switch could be completed early in the transfer window.

Inter’s on-loan Japanese left-back Yuto Nagatomo has been a big hit at San Siro since January but Cristian Chivu struggled in that role earlier in the season and the Italian club are keen to permanently fill what has become a problem position for them.

Clichy, who can also expect a hike on his £50,000-a-week wages given the more favourable tax rates in Italy, fits the bill as a proven performer at left-back.

Bayern have let their interest in Clichy be known as they look to recruit a new left-back and central defender during the forthcoming window.

Gael force | Clichy has made 40 starts for Arsenal this season but wants a new challenge

There is a possibility that the German club could re-shuffle their defence, buy a new right-back and put Philipp Lahm back in the position he has filled many times for the national team. But it is believed that the desired option is to bolster the left flank.

As revealed by, the club have already had meetings with Benfica left-back Fabio Coentrao, but have now targeted Clichy as a back-up option, with Real Madrid also interested in the Portuguese star.

Despite missing Arsenal’s final three fixtures of the season through injury, only Bacary Sagna started as many league games (33) as Clichy this season, and only Laurent Koscielny, Jack Wilshere and Sagna exceeded his total of 40 starts for the team in all competitions.

His form has improved in the second half of the season, which has been enough to keep his understudy and heir apparent Kieran Gibbs on the sidelines.

One more french poodle deserting a SINKING SHIP.
Good riddance as he failed to develop to fill up Cashley Cole’s size 14 shoes.

Then Gibbs and Botelho will fight it out..unless Vermaleen is assigned to LB????

Robin van Persie has equalled the record of 18 goals scored in a season from January 1 onwards held by Thierry Henry and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Dutchman has been in prolific form since the turn of the year and his late charge took him to within two goals of the Premier League’s joint-top scorers – Dimitar Berbatov and Carlos Tevez.

The Finnish Football Association have confirmed that Arsenal have signed Carl Jenkinson from Charlton Athletic. A compensation package of around £1 million has been agreed.

Arsenal moved for Jenkinson two months ago, after he rejected a new contract with Charlton. The life-long Gooner quickly agreed terms with the Gunners, but the two clubs have been thrashing out a compensation package, as Carl is under 24.

A fee of around £3 million was initially debated for the right back, who can play anywhere along the back four or in midfield. Both parties agreed on a figure two weeks ago, and now the Finnish FA have confirmed the transfer, listing Jenkinson as a player from ‘Arsenal FC’.

You can catch a full interview with a Charlton youth writer about Carl in the coming days.

Good Kt, lets hope the gamble doesn’t pay off, mind you, from what i have seen of him he’s pretty good….

  69. K-TR7

    May 24, 2011 at 4:28pm

Rico he is definitely talented but the EPL is a different kettle of fish.he is pretty good at shot stopping but in this league he’ll have to deal with the likes of Stoke/B’burn who don’t shoot much.don’t also forget he is very young and being Spanish there is a pretty good chance he gets homesick when the likes of barca come calling.

Getting rid of clichy, rosicky, vela, bendtner and denilson would be the perfect start to the would also mean Wenger has serious amounts of cash to spend.

It’ll be a wake up call dealing with the bombs into the box from the likes of stoke blackburn wolves and a few others thats for sure.

19mil for a keeper and that young i would of thought Neuer would of been better value for the Mancs.

Do we sell them Nasri for 20mil…?

  101. Steve Palmer

    May 24, 2011 at 6:43pm

We could sell all of our team and replace them, but if Wenger persists with his style of play we will not change our results. our defensive players must be drilled differently, set plays are a major problem for us and must be sorted out. Our attacks break down on their goal area that also needs sorting out our midfield cannot thread a forward pass and our strikers seldom shoot, all signs of the system Wenger uses does not work

Hola, KT. I’m a bit surprised at this Giggs brouhaha. I find it amazing that it is any point of interest at all. Ryan Giggs? Who cares?

Like you’ve said rico, it is a little strange how Nik has been given chance after chance after chance, and Vela none so few chances, really. :(

I think Steve, our players should really just pass less and just go for goal. It is pass after pointless pass… We have become predictable and so easily contained.

    Gervinho in 2009… from Wikki…

Gervinho had been linked with a move to Arsenal. Gervinho reiterated his desire for a “dream” move to Arsenal, confirming speculation that Arsenal were interested in him. He said he would have to keep working hard at Le Mans and Arsenal would “open the door” for him [1]. On 21 July 2009 the Ivory Coast striker, moved from Le Mans UC72 to league rivals Lille OSC, for a €8 million transfer fee and signed a three-year contract.
