With Bungle injured, we’d be better off with Zippy than Flappy!! CL Squad announced.

If the headline baffles, go and google Rainbow, it’s a kids television programme from many years ago….

So Almunia is injured and Flappyanski is lined up to take his place for tomorrow nights game. Me, I don’t believe it, Almunia has been dropped after his woeful displace which is right. But, replacing him with a keeper who is equally as bad, beggars belief!!

Trust this lot to restore some pride?

Fabianski
Szczesny
Sagna
Clichy
Koscielny
Rosicky
Nasri
Vela
Denilson
Song
Sqillaci
Djourou
Wilshere
Arshavin
Chamakh
Gibbs
Lansbury
Eboue

In goal I hope we see:-

This……

But Not This!!!!!!

Have a good evening all……

No Mannone in the squad…??????????? Is this a sign that at long last Wengers glasses are beginning to let in some light..?

  2. W.A.T.H says:

Oh and I’d much rather have Zippy or Bungle over Flappy any day of the week month or year…!

  3. rico says:

I thought Mannone would travel WATH….

    Or George

  4. rico says:

Bungle over Flappy, but Zippy over both for me

Still think Bungle has been dropped…. just like last season..

  5. Red Arse says:

    Rico,

Is this the same chesney who couln not hold onto the vaulting horse and broke both his arms?

Sounds like just the GK we have been looking for.

Not chocolate arms, but RVP glass arms. :-)

  6. Arse&Nose© says:

    I thought Wenger said :

” he [Manone] has had a [set back] small issue [with] the [penis] “

  7. david ayres says:

where is diaby? he was training with the squad today

  8. rico says:

he’s not in the squad david, don’t know why yet

  9. W.A.T.H says:

RA, he dropped wieghts on his arms or something like that…. Def wasnt a vaulting horse. . . . . Hmmm ok I’m going to shut up now…!

  10. W.A.T.H says:

    Cos he’s crap Rico……………. lol

  11. rico says:

RA, but he’s made a good recovery, would rather see Flapianski?

  12. rico says:

WATH, Diaby? He’s not that good ;)

  13. W.A.T.H says:

So here we are then……………… Wonder if Mikes still busy shining up his new waiter or busy with his Shato moldyfeet

  14. agirlagunner says:

Boo! Off to read the earlier post! ;)

  15. rico says:

Boo to you agag, see you in a while ;)

  16. W.A.T.H says:

Whats all this “boo-ing” about then………? We getting ready 4 Flappy in goal 2noro night already… boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ;-)

  17. rico says:

Don’t WATH, I am dreading seeing him, I know we should get behind whoever wears the shirt and come kick off i will, but…..

  18. W.A.T.H says:

Well I do draw the line at boo-ing anyone in a red shirt, never have done and never will do and boy have I seen some drivel over the years but won’t ever stoop to that. I’ll give them what 4 but never boo. after the 90mins r up I’ll have my say but what exactly does booing a player achieve, very little in my opinion however I do understand that some see it as a right to vent their feelings when paying so much to watch the team these days and how else do you show your displeasure with a perfomance..? its a difficult one actually…!

  19. charybdis1966 says:

Rico, you normally talk sense, but this time you’re wrong.
Flappy is not “equally bad” he’s a hell of a lot worse than Almunia!
We’d be better off with an open goal rather than that plonker in goal.

We’d be better off with one of the Clangers in goal.

  20. Red Arse says:

    Rico,

I am back. WATH has been running me ragged between the two Posts. So we are staying here now are we?

WATH, we can go back and be as rude as we like on the old Post, because no one will know! :-)

  21. rico says:

WATh, I’m not for booing either, haven’t been to too many games but may shout a bit, but booing, never…

  22. agirlagunner says:

No booing anyone. Not even with who we have on goal. (sigh) Just closing the window of some crappy streaming with some foreign language commentary. I still feel bad about the match. (sigh) Maybe I shouldn’t have watched it again… I didn’t think it possible but It was worse the second time. (sigh) :(

  23. rico says:

Hi chary, good to see you, fair point, he is a lot worse, but neither are really ever going to good enough….

Soup Dragon would be ok :)

  24. rico says:

Hi agag, why did you put yourself through all that again….

  25. CM. says:

I was sitting behind Almunia in the first half and he was holding his arm n grimmacing after the pen and then throughout the game. you could tell he was struggling with it. So i do beleive it is a genuine injury. That said, even with one arm he’s still better than Flappyhandski. Would like to see ‘Don Vito’ or ‘Chesney’ given their chance. Flappy doesnt have a great deal of experience either, so why not try the kids. Worst case scenario: we still suck at goalie. So no difference!

  26. W.A.T.H says:

A pair of weeds between the grass would be good as well………… :-)

  27. W.A.T.H says:

I bet Rico still has big brother watching the old post RA we’d get away with nothing mate…………

  28. W.A.T.H says:

Spot on CM whats the worse thing that can happen… Hmmmmm yep Chez can only be as bad as flappy end of…!

  29. rico says:

hi cm, good to see you here, thats an old trick when youve just mucked up, didnt he geyt injured last season after a dreadful game?

    Chesney for me…

  30. rico says:

BB is definately in the House :)

  31. charybdis1966 says:

I’d go for Vito – he’s played for us in league and European games already and looked solid.

  32. agirlagunner says:

I don’t know either, rico ;) Masochistic tendencies, I think.

We can’t be worse off with the alternatives than we already are with Almunia and Fabianski. And if that Diaby knows what’s good for him, he’ll turn in a performance which he seems to deliver only when kitted out in France’s colors.

  33. rico says:

To be fair chary, i wouldn’t care which one of the two younger keepers he played, both show more courage and grit than the current two…

its not easy to be called ‘great’ in the lower divisions, but Chesney had a great write up from Brentford…

Mannone, I recall him best in the fulham game, oustanding and kept us in the game….

  34. rico says:

Asmo, thanks for your comment, but with that kind of attitude, please close the door as you leave…!

  35. rico says:

Diaby is not in the squad agag… maybe he has a niggle or something ….

  36. W.A.T.H says:

Mannone had a good game at Fulham but also got very lucky that his saves didnt fall to the feet of teh fulham strikers, the Blackburn goal at home was his fault way 2 far off his line and also he was shaky at spammers…….. 4 me he also aint good enough, Time for Chezy to put his class where his mouth is and show us he good as he says he is….!

  37. agirlagunner says:

Good. I hope he’s rested for a month at least since I do not want to see him play for some time. :x

  38. CM. says:

I’d make Szczesny sign a new deal before playing him personally (though I’m sure he wants to play before signing one) so I would go with Vito. As much experience as Flappy, and less howlers. And as Arsene said, “Vito deserves a chance aswell”… although he also said “Flappy is world class”, so pinch of salt there! haha.

PS. I grew up with Rainbow, absolutely loved it! Jane… phwoar! even as a littl’un I fancied her, haha.

  39. rico says:

Chesney certainly has a lot to say for himself, but i like that, he has attitude, a player needs that but he has set himself up for a fall IF it goes wrong….

I just don’t think it will go wrong, i just don’t…

  40. rico says:

    me neither agag ;)

  41. rico says:

CM – i only remember george, Bungle and Zippy, and of course Geoffrey :)

  42. CM. says:

Rod, Jane & Freddy where the ones who came on and did all the songs in the shows.

  43. rico says:

Blimey CM, your memory is good, i remember the songs being sung, normally after an ‘incident’ :) but can’t recall all the names – you are showing your age ;)

  44. CM. says:

and in terms of playing young keepers, Real Madrid have played Casillas as a regular since he was 18, so if Arsene beleives is Chesney enough, he should play him. But I think Arsene doesnt want to lose him on a free if he does take the gamble on him, as he’s been burnt a few times like that in the past.

  45. CM. says:

haha, I only just turned 24 two weeks ago! if anything makes me feel old, it’s supporting a team full of world class stars who are all younger than me! haha.

  46. oliver says:

hi all…just got back from dentist appointment. i am hearing diaby has been dropped – good.

let’s see who starts in goal. fabianski probably. but at least szczesny is in the squad. perhaps this is arsene’s way (injury) of moving szczesny up in the “pecking order”. he is certainly sticking with his established pattern and using the injury card as an explanation to drop almunia.

  47. oliver says:

red arse, if you are here, i did not think my weekend could get worse after saturday’s result, but sunday’s performance/result did just that!

  48. rico says:

CM – reports are that Chesney could play against the Chavs on saturday, not sure i think they hold much sustance as surely he would play tonight before then…

wenger needs to work his magic on chesney as he will go if he isn’t taken seriously…

Cripes CM, 24, I watched it the first time round :)

  49. rico says:

Hi oliver, no probs with the Gnashers i hope ;)

  50. oliver says:

hi rico. nope, all is good. need a routine cleaning but no cavs or other probs.

two days on, i am still of the opinion that the entire squad let us down, not just al. being who he is, he will get the brunt of criticism, but he pile on al at the expense of giving others a pass. at least al looked upset when the goals went in – did not notice too many others get angry or riled.

i cannot say for certain if diaby has been dropped – but i hope he has, this is finally a step in the right direction. there needs to be accountability throughout the squad. diaby has all the physical and technical assets to be a wonderful player, but his languid style, lack of intensity, and indifferent-looking demeanor make him a passenger more often than a driver. i am starting to wonder whether he will ever fulfill his potential – holding him accountable for lazy, i-don’t-give-a-**** performances is a good place to start.

lost in all the wailing and teeth-gnashing is that we need a result tomorrow night…

  51. rico says:

oliver – i think the same as you re almunia, wenger won’t say he’s to blame but deals with it in house but declaring him injured…

  52. rico says:

rooney is out for the mancs in their CL game….

  53. oliver says:

unfortunately, this is how arsene has always operated – handle things in-house, provide a “convenient” reason when someone is dropped. the problem is that it fuels the no accountability perception and frustrates supporters to no end. arsene can drop someone without throwing them under the bus: “almunia will not be traveling to belgrade with the squad. he took saturday’s result and overall team performance very hard, and we feels it is in everybody’s interests to afford him some time to work on some things away from the spotlight. i fully expect him to return stronger than ever.”

the above clearly says that al has been dropped – it doesn’t blame him for the team performance and result, and does not put the spotlight on his individual performance. but still makes it clear that he will not be our first choice for at least the next match. is that so difficult to do, arsene?

  54. Red Arse says:

    Oliver,

Let’s agree not to discuss the Jints! 10:29 at home! I was disappointed the game was not shown over here, but in the end I was glad.

Still the Yankees stopped their 4 game losing run and are nearly thru to the play offs. But in the 10th Innings! Wow! toronto tonight! At least the Mets won for you! :-)

  55. rico says:

oliver, you are again right, it was more than just Almunia, but he has been in the spotlight for so long because of his mistakes, it’s natural that he would have to bare the brunt – especially as the mistakes he made he should not have..

Diaby, who knows, it was his first game back so he could just be rested for what probably appears an easy game on paper – it won’t be though….

If we had to have one shocking performance all season i wouldn’t mind it being against WBA, what i cannot stomach is that it was at our home, The Emirates…

  56. oliver says:

funny you mention rooney, rico. i have not watched united much this season, but all account seem to indicate that rooney is a shell of the player he was last few seasons. do you think red nose would publicly say he is dropping rooney? or blame it on an “ankle knock”? arsene is not the only one that feeds supporters crap by over-covering for his players.

credit to jerome thomas for hitting an open net on saturday. now he is an authority on the current arsenal side. i respect the baggies for beating us rather easily at our own game – but i am disappointed to hear one of their players suddenly having an “informed opinion” on arsenal. a goal into an empty net will not change the fact that thomas is at wba because he was not, and never will be, good enough for arsenal.

  57. rico says:

I don’t think anyone really wants wenger to come out and rant, roar and totally slate Al, no person deserves that.

But to cover up poor performances with injury just makes everyone look silly…. i like the way you put it oliver..

  58. oliver says:

red arse, i have to run to a meeting in a few minutes, but tom coughlin’s status is now a legitimate question – the team is no longer responding to him, they are making stupid mistakes, and seem to have lost the stomach to fight back. it is only three games in, but the giants cannot afford any more performances as these past two. another factor is the jets: they are starting to look like the team everyone expected them to be – big win in miami last night – ny has always been a giants town, and they cannot afford to become an afterthought to the jets in the first season in the new stadium.

coughlin’s seat is as hot as it can be now. kevin gilbride should also be very, very concerned.

  59. Red Arse says:

    Oliver,

I think you are talking good sense. Saturday was not all down to Big Al, but his departure is now a self fulfilling prophecy.

For the fans to know that the manager recognises the problem and is addressing it, albeit in a diplomatic way, would release the stress valves (?)

The way things are going seems to be fire fighting or being reactive rather than proactive. Not a place to be! :-(

  60. rico says:

oliver, i hardly watch any other side to be honest, its only on here at home if there’s nothing better to be noise in the background ;)

Rooney isn’t injured though we all know that, Fergie doesn’t have to tell everyone why he’s not playing as we all know the reason.

I would have thought he would have gone to play in their CL match, as he loves ‘playing away from home’

  61. rico says:

    RA,

Its a tough call though, having playing sport all my life, i would rather a manager tell me i was dreadful when i was – it wouldn’t shock me as i would have known it myself…

For Almunia it must be horrid, he knows he had a dreadful time, he’s not selected for the next game and suddenly he is injured..

    Does that really help Almunia?

Hope he doesn’t get pictured carrying the heavy shopping bags if its a wrist injury ;) ;)

  62. rico says:

    Where did agag go??

  63. rico says:

In fact, where did you all go??

  64. K-TR7 says:

    Rico am around.

  65. Red Arse says:

    Rico,

I am here. My Firefox updated and threw me into a tizzy. Unnecessarily! :-)

  66. rico says:

Hey you two, i was just about to go…. but you saved me ;)

  67. K-TR7 says:

Rico i will send you another post before the chavs as they are sort of European opposition.i will include pressing, defensive structure and how song, den and diaby vary our play.i’ll also include big jack as he has become a first team member.

  68. Red Arse says:

    KT,

You seem to be sending so many drafts to Rico that I think you must have a little factory of elves churning them out! :-)

  69. Stef says:

    Hello HH
Two post today and I thought it was Tuesday already :)

hang over is a bit over good to see Diaby dropped he was the worst player on the pitch although there weren’t any notable team mates either.

    Nice posts over all.

  70. Red Arse says:

    Rico,

As there is just us three on the site, and three million reading it, I will let you into a little secret!

I am a v. good cook. I have just taken a batch of loaves out of the oven. The smell is driving me crackers and is making me even more hungry, and I have to go and tear into one. :-)

  71. rico says:

the more the merrier KTR7, i love reading them and learning… youve even got me watching an odd la liga game….:)

  72. Red Arse says:

Hi Stef, you arrive just as I am going! :-)

  73. rico says:

hey stef, two today for the travelling squad news….

  74. rico says:

RA, were they part baked? ;) ;)

  75. rico says:

you have a hangover too Stef, kt the other day, you today, is HH driving you all to drink :) :)

  76. K-TR7 says:

Rico i think Almunia and diaby have been dropped.i have also seen the rumours that szczesny may start at the Bridge but they are just that.

  77. rico says:

mentioned the chesney at the bridge earlier KTR7, but i don’t think anyone saw it….

its kind of interesting really, why on earth would you throw a young keeper in at the bridge and not play him tonight… you wouldn’t so i think its rubbish. no doubt the metro are thinking that flappy will muck up tomorrow and wenger is left with littel choice….

  78. Red Arse says:

    Rico,

No I make them to my own recipe, (which is the same as everyone else’s probably :-) )

It’s lovely, so I am off to do the rest of it justice.

    See you tomorrow! :-)

  79. K-TR7 says:

Aw is in a corner.he says he trusts the youth but he hasn’t given szczesny a chance.if he gets it am sure he’ll make the most of it.

  80. Red Arse says:

    BTW, Rico,

I saw your earlier comment re Chesney at the Bridge! :-)

    Nite Nite.

  81. rico says:

I love bread making too RA, the kneeding gets a tad boring, but i love the grainy loaves… yum yum,

enjoy, see you tomorrow RA – don’t forget the big lump of cheese to with the bread ;)

  82. K-TR7 says:

    If i need bread…buy one!

  83. rico says:

Best way KT, but it doesn’t taste as good ;)

  84. K-TR7 says:

So long as am satisfied rico i don’t care.i hope to learn to cook along the way similar to how you’re learning Euro footy.

  85. rico says:

:) KT, you will, and as you say, just as I am learning….

  86. rico says:

KT, I have to go for the day, see you tommorow on a day when we restore pride at Arsenal I hope….

Enjoy the rest of your day

    Nighty night all, stay safe

  87. K-TR7 says:

    Night all.
